Tourism Minister Denise Charles has said that Dominica is expecting 30% more visitors than that in 2019 for the 22nd Edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF).
“I think this is going to be the best edition of the World Creole Music Festival (WCMF). We are expecting 30% more visitors than we had in 2019,” she said.
According to Charles, the ferry is full to capacity when it comes to travel.
“We have seen that all our airline partners are reporting that they are fully booked,” she said. “So we are just praying for good weather.”
She stated that ticket sales are going very well.
“We have an exciting line-up as you saw, and we have a lot of local participation considering that we had a two-year break and so I am very excited for the local artistes who will be performing,” Charles stated.
She continued, “We have a very well-put-together international lineup including Grammy-award artiste Burna Boy who many people are coming to see in Dominica for the very first time.”
Furthermore, Charles encourages Dominicans and visitors alike to participate in Ti-Vilaj Kwéyòl ‘Tout Biten Domnik, an activity leading up to the WCMF weekend carded for October 24-27.
“It’s going to be exciting, it’s going to be everything Dominica…from our music, the dance,” Charles noted. “We are expected to have a fashion show and I think visitors to the island are going to have a wonderful time in the [Botanic] Gardens.”
So what you expect those damn Diasporas that helped Skerrit steal the 2019 elections to do this time. Free plane / ferry tickets, free tickets to the festival, free food, free drinks , free sex whether man or woman don’t you expect all planes and ferries to be booked? I wonder if Mr and Mrs Weakham will be all over during the festival taking national pole
I am so disappointed that the ministry did not make arrangements with the airlines. We were seeing prices as ridiculous as $13000 US to travel from NY. Thankfully, I was able to make reasonable travel arrangement. However, if we are going to brag about having Grammy award winning artists, then let us make the entire experience more affordable and convenient for diaspora who are excited about coming home.
More rubbish from this nasty smelling wig-head woman; “expecting 30% more visitors than that in 2019.”
Well, it must be 30% more of a number, so how many visitors did she get in 2019?
Until you can say you had X number of visitors: i.e fifty thousand people in 2019; then your calculation would be 50,000.00 x 30 = 1,500,000/100 = 15,000 thousand more people will come this year or next!
So, once again she is simply farting out of her mind talking percentage, thirty percent of what?
State how many visitors you had in 2019, unless to can produce that number, shut up, because you don’t know what he hell you talking about!
Hello and good morning my people. Ms Charles you are going to have a thirty percent increase in attendance from 2019 so what’s the baseline you are working from. Don’t you know that Covid-19 started in March of 2019 so only a thirty percent increase isn’t much. Liat has two planes in their fleet so why don’t work on getting more flights to Dominica and Liat isn’t listing any flight leaving Dominica. Ms Charles all flight are booked but Liat and Inter Carribbean only have one flight a day. You are the Tourism Minister and that’s the best you can tell us. Where are the flights to Dominica not just for the festival but overall the months.
A lot of hype from her again. Ferry fully booked aircraft fully booked…! This woman thrives on vague statements and propaganda. I mean, how long is a piece of string? Why isn’t she telling us how many ferry’s with which capacity are expected. How many flights with how many seats are expected? That way we can do the math ourselves and get a pretty accurate figure. I personally would argue that things are not going all that well. Why otherwise would the government see fit to purchase 1,500 of those ‘valuable’ tickets? The other question, what are they doing with the tickets? Are they perhaps been put in those brown envelopes that usually contain 20 and 50 dollar bills.
