Trade minister cautions public to conserve fuel: ‘we have no control over the price’

Dr. Vince Henderson

Trade Minister Dr. Vince Henderson has urged the public to use fuel very judiciously at the pumps. He made the statement during a live interview on State-Owned Radio, DBS this week.

According to him, this is necessary because the country has no control over the price of fuel.

“We do not want to see the shortage of fuel, but also we have to take some level of responsibility and to do our best to conserve, to be as efficient as possible,” Dr. Henderson said. “But we also call on the public to ensure that you use fuel very judiciously, very wisely, so that you do not have to face the high prices at the pumps.”

He continued, “I can’t tell people what to do, but I can always urge the public to be very judicious in the use of fuel, because since we don’t produce any in Dominica, we have no control over the price.”

Additionally, he said the government is doing everything in its power to ensure that it works with importers of fuel.

“We have done well, we have seen the return of Rubis, we continue to engage all importers and the retailers as well and we are hoping even soon we can meet some of the requests that the retailers have been making to ensure that they can continue operating, so that Dominicans would not have to suffer from the shortage of fuel, because none of us wants to get back there,” Dr. Henderson explained.

He added, “We have some discussion going on with one of the importers of motor vehicles, so that we can possibly see the introduction of more hybrid vehicles into Dominica and that will definitely ensure greater efficiency.

I have always wanted to discipline myself in such a way that would prevent me from posting any comments about this guy, Vince and Roosevelt Skerrit. And I must say that I have succeeded. I have much better things to do. My thing is, let them do what they are bent of doing until they reach the end of their respective Ropes. And they are nearing the end.

To suggest that people use good judgment in using fuel, whereas it may seem to make sense it’s as every time these labor party clowns open their mouths!

Although Dominica is a small place, practically walking distance wherever one wishes to go, the problem is people have come to rely on public transportation they don’t walk from one end of a village to the other anymore!
They do not walk from Village to Village anymore.
And so, regardless of the price of gasoline usage and consumption will always be high!
If the clowns running the country are responsible for the importation of petroleum products in the country, knowing that any increase in prices handicaps the purse in many ways, he is trying to hold the public responsible for expected hardship when the pumps run dry.
Dominica could have gotten an oil refinery in the 1970’s, built there by Dominican born Frank D. St. Hiliar, but because of this stupid mentality “we doh want it” Frank took it to Antigua.
    West Indies Oil Company!

“We have some discussion going on with one of the importers of motor vehicles, so that we can possibly see the introduction of more hybrid vehicles into Dominica and that will definitely ensure greater efficiency.”

The design of a vehicle is as important as the means of power. Ninety five percent of imported vehicles are unsuited to Dominica’s climate, terrain and repair facilities. The solution is a design that recognizes these factors and to keep it simple.

Most Dominican have no other choice but to live frugally. Life in the country is as tough as bricks. Only members of the potbelly regime can Iive lavishly.

Vince your advice to the nation about conserving the amount of fue they use comes across as a desperate attempt to be relevant.

If you want to be really relevant, you could take a leading role in Cabinet to come up with measures and strategies for the creation of economic growth, poverty alleviation, youth empowerment and crime reduction.

By the way, why don’t you and your colleagues practise what you preach. THOU HYPOCRITE!!!

Here is more misery coming our way. If the CM had paid Venezuela for their fuel years ago, we still would have a fairly reliable source at a subsidised price. Instead him, the Rottweiler and the one with a new wick for every day of the week deceided to raid the vault at PetroCaribe to an extend that Venezuela had to write of as much as US$100 million. Every misery in our country bears the finger print of the Horrible CM. Isn’t it time for him and his cabal to be kicked out.

Ultimately they come to reveal their past lies. As if they didn’t once sell the lie that Petro-Cribe was indeed the shining hope of our fuel/electricity woes. As if Geothermal Energy had not once been sold as the great liberator of our fuel/electricity woes.
Are you people not seeing a trend of deceit? How long will this carry on?
I bet they never really feel the true cost of fuel in their pockets, they ride around for years on fuel paid for by the state. Joke’s on you lot! Watch you spending they say, but do they themselves reduce their wastage of state funds?

When you write such comment, do you have evidence or facts to prove the foolishness you are alleging, you must not just say things
to validate what you assume, having total disregard for evidence, which too may lead to ignorance on your part, as it regards PetroCaribe. The every misery you envision in our country with your silly assumption belongs to you. What you need is a renewal of your mind, so long.

Gary even an average grade 5 student can present better sentence construction than this confusing garbage you have deposited on this site. Like a crab, you emerge from your dark hole occasionally to cause mischief. You don’t respond to the headlines, you just senselessly attack other people’s contributions.

Your grossly substandard posts seriously water down the quality of discourse on this forum. Find a rum joint to vent your pent up frustrations.

Before you ask someone to tell you what you do not know, you first need to stop making assumptions about what you do not know or understand. You know there are two ways to be fooled, one is to believe what isn’t true, the other is to refuse to believe what is true, so long.

Yes Vince, a timely distraction from the news those journalists around the world are putting out against the very corrupt Roosevelt Skerrit and his gang of evil ministers. If and when price of fuel goes up we shall deal with it but now all eyes and ears are glued on what Skerrit has done to Dominica with his passport sale corruption. We the people of Dominica are now calling on Roosevelt Skerrit and his entire cabinet to resign forthwith!
