In a recent announcement, Ambassador Roger Nyhus revealed that the United States is extending immediate humanitarian assistance to the communities affected by Hurricane Beryl in Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. This aid was prompted by direct requests for help from the respective governments of these nations.
According to the statement from the embassy, following Hurricane Beryl’s passage through the Eastern Caribbean, Ambassador Nyhus identified a pressing humanitarian need, leading to the allocation of funding through the Red Cross to aid those impacted by the disaster in both countries. USAID has deployed disaster experts on-site to assist with damage assessments in the affected regions.
In preparation for the hurricane’s arrival, the United States reportedly positioned supplies in the area to ensure a rapid and effective response. These proactive measures have facilitated the prompt delivery of aid and assistance to those in distress.
“The United States and Embassy Bridgetown stand in solidarity with the people of Grenada and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines during this challenging time,” said Ambassador Nyhus. “The United States is committed to providing the necessary support to help these communities recover and rebuild. These are our friends, neighbors, and partners,” he added.
