One hundred and fifty (150) families in Dominica will be spared from the wrath of any major storm or hurricane during the hurricane season which is soon approaching.

This was according to Housing Minister Reginald Austrie during a site visit of housing units in Grand Fond and Delices earlier this week.

He said the buildings located in Grand Fond, Delices, La Plaine, Jimmit and other areas on the island were constructed to withstand a category 5 hurricane.

“We are now approaching the hurricane season and many of these buildings were built with the hurricane in mind,” Austrie said. “As you know that this part of the country received a serious beating from [Hurricane] Maria and we are ensuring that the quality of housing will be able to withstand at least a category 5 Hurricane.”

He continued, “Also here in Grand Fond what is unique about these buildings is that we have constructed within that building a hurricane shelter which will be able to hold anywhere between 50 and 60 people if it becomes necessary.”

Austrie added, “What we are ensuring is that over 50 families from Grand Fond can rest easy and sleep properly in the event that we are visited by a hurricane during the hurricane season.”

He said the 150 building units will be handed over within the next two weeks.

“All of the units will be inhabited or the residents will be indoors before the start of the hurricane season,” Austrie stated.

He said following that the government will move into the Roseau Central where three areas for housing were identified.

Meantime, Austrie indicated that in spite of the challenges the country is presently facing in light of the dreaded Covid-19 the government remains committed and continues to work.

He said staff from the Ministry of Housing were already instructed, “To go out there and to look at every single house in this country and to ensure that they are fit and prepared for the hurricane.”

No time for Reggie and his nonsense. Reggie, try to see what a doctor or someone can give you to help you sleep because I Know you not sleeping with that money Trump put for the arrest of Maduro because you know once Maduro is captured then you, Skerrit and others will become very interesting. My suggestion to you is help the US capture Maduro and get the $15million dollars, then sell out Alibaba and become the hero. But I know you can’t sell out Skerrit because that’s like selling out Reggie.

He forget the other half of the story, the houses will only be for Labour supporters, them criminals are just trying to detract the people from the current issue of neglecting a segment of the population who will not get help from the covid19 pandemic more crimes against the citizens of Dominica.

They have to ‘dry out’ first, otherwise they are not hurricane proof. Austrie told all you they will withstand a cat. 5 hurricane.

Guyana trained guerilla bull dog i would like you to answer the following questions under oath. Have you ever had venezuelans renting your house? If yes, did you pay taxes on revenue earned? Did you ever use funds from petro carib to have village Festival and buy materials for your personal use and for friends? Did you ever use proceeds from sale of petro caribe gas to campaign for labour party and political bribery? Did you use your political influence to get your kids in positions they were far from qualified for? What kinda punishment you would recommend to politicians or people who misappropriated state resources? Would you be willing to answer all these questions under oath? Will you be willing to make public all records and receipts for housing and petrocaribe expenditure. DNO These are not accusations just questions that we should be able to ask every politicians.

Silver Fox – Reggie is a Public Officer /figure in politics and in government therefore his business is our business put another way it is our business as long as Reggie is in government to question him and to have him give an account for the millions, if not billions of dollars and assets that he has been made to manage under his twenty year portfolio . Lennox has no gun to anybody’s head taking monies from them, we choose to donate from our free wheel. Reggie on the other hand has lots of access to State funds and assets so therefore we need to hold him accountable. In fact the IPO, Director of Audit, the Commissioner of Police and FIU if they are functioning properly would by now begin investigations into all the allegations against politicians especially those in office. Example It would be very interesting to find out the difference between their asset baseline when they entered politics to present day.
