in the law you need attorneys on both sides. Your legal representative CANNOT work against your best interest. So yes, if are locked up your attorneys will always try to get bail.

The old saying if you live by the sword, you will die by the sword. We have too many guns on the streets of Dominica. I wish the police would do like in the 1980’s. Say what you want about the late Dame Eugenia Charles, her administration took on the the challenges of dealing ŵith the scumbags.

A man shot in his home at three o’clock in the morning at his home in Grand Bay a couple days later..
    Coincidence?
    A new trend?

Grand Bay againnnnnnnn! Eh heh I said it!

As a man with roots in Grand Bay I alway heard thats where bad men are made. Sadly, that has been improved to “thats where drug dealers called businessmen are made!’. I mean come on, how many murders can we link to that village in the pasy 5 years? Yet, the people seems to be content because they are not doing anything about it. Folks let no one fool you, is in that place that have guns and drugs and the police knows that but choose NOT to interfere because of politics. Like a Senior Cop told me earlier today; “let them kill each other its better for the island that the purge each other out”. Sad Sad Sad!

I wondered about that too. I know Grandbay but have never heard of a place there by the Name Berridos. I assume the editor means Berekua, which sounds similar.

ADMIN: Thank you for pointing that out. There was a typo that has since been corrected. Both Berekua and Berricoa are accepted.

PS. I hear he was the grandson of Marie Magdalene Baron of backstreet In Grandbay (or la rue derrière as we call it locally), who only passed away last month. RIP both of them.

I thought that people who live in a “democratic” society/country had the right to live where they want, say what they want, dress the way they want!!! But things have changed. Dominica is no longer democratic and that’s very scary. People now can shoot who they want, kill who they want, steal what they want, rape who they want, kidnap who they want and spoil who they want. Murderers could be living next door from us and we don’t know. This is Dominica today. The sad truth is that, it will get worse before it gets better. So buckle up. People don’t want to hear or to be told about God. Instead, they are blaming police, the prime minister, but they themselves are not involved in any criminality. The wrath is here. There’s something biblical concerning the killings of male/young men. This phenomenon results in gross poverty and misery. Did this young man have any children, parents and grandparents? We are all affected by these wicked acts one way of the other. The killer is a murderer.

See the trend? All of you contributors who are in one way or another critical of the victim, who by the looks of it is into nothing good, are receiving thumbs down. This here is our problem. Too many upholding criminals and criminal activity in the country. When I grew up in Dominica being a vieux neg was an embarrassment to your family, today these people are family heroes because they provide the meals. It’s all about filling bellies.

It is often said that a picture is worth a thousand words. In this case – sad, sad words that evoke memories of the rapper 50 Cent epic: “get rich or die tryin”. Last week (July 17) we read here on DNO of a case of Petite Savanne man found dead in bed of gun shot wounds. Today is another one in Grand Bay. When and where will this end? This is a time for sober reflection on the rapid growth on this new cadre of “businessmen” in Dominica.

Well, I do not wish to judge, but looking at the appearance of that guy; the way he is dressed, unless the jewels he sports are fake; you know fake gold, that is an indication of his lifestyle!

Now I know that everybody in Dominica do not sell passports for a living: so the question is where he got the resources from to decorate his person as seen in the photograph.

Anyway maybe he was another of Dominica’s billionaires, and did not pay his debtors on time!

The metaphor said all that shines (glitters) are not gold!

Well said but they wear 18K gold and he is no billionaire. The billionaire of the Power ball lives next to you. They are so stupid they kill and show off all these jewelry. I really don’t think it is attractive. The young girls go for that. The motor cycle which kill most of them. The guns and then all this. Dominica has become a cesspool for killings. Then you wake up and they are on bail for KFC price. The commonwealth is in trouble.

You know I cannot understand the logic behind a man committed murder; he was granted bail!

While still on bail, for the first murder; the case is not yet heard.

The one of the same murderer went out and murdered again, and court in the person of Thomas Astaphans sends the man out on bail again!
        This is unconscionable.

You know there was a so called late Dominica judge, born in Montserrat, his name was Volney, worked in Trinidad, he set a murderer free, the day the murderer hit the streets, he killed again on the same day!

Dominica is a fantasy land, where the rulers are wizards of Oz: Dominica, is nothing more than a dream, with no beginning and no end.
I mean it would appear that such decision to grant a double murderer bail is not based on any legal precedence, the judge involved was most probable inebriated when he made that decision.

If he kills while out on this time the blood will be on the hands of his clever lawyer, and the dumb so called judge!

Gangsta style, gangsta death, I know but how many homicides does this make in our country this year? Our society is evil and rotten.

Yes, what is the homicide count for the current year? This should definitely be published to forewarn the citizens as to the level of murders in the country. No surprise that the local news outlets always deprive us of details.

But with all the deaths via shooting with illegal and of course unlicenced firearms, isn’t it the responsibility of the police to get back to us with an update re the number of arrests that have been made and how many of those murders that are still being investigated? In most, or many countries, following such murders the police is often questioned by journalist at a press conference about the murder. In Dominica gruesome killings like those are seen as normal. It frightens me how heartless a society we have become, and how useless and incompetent the CDPF has become. So many murderers seem to be on the loose walking our streets. The police prefer to harass peaceful walkers on a Wednesday than to arrest this escalating gun crimes!! I will say again, many in top management of the CDPF deserves being sent home! They are useless!!

      I agree!

The current administration, the ‘police’ give us scant information about these gruesome murders. That is bad. What is even more egregious is that there is hardly any follow up of additional information about these heart-wrenching slayings.

Dominica is a diminishing democracy and has been reduced to a criminal paradise.
