I have watch the photos of the accident and what have me baffled is inside the bus. Why are the seats all over the place? Taking a bus ride in this country is very dangerous. To me the road is not the problem its the drivers. One, the dont respect the road and pedestrians. Two, some of their buses are not in proper working condition and three most of these buses are uncomfortable. Sometimes, buses get minor accidents and because of comfort of the bus alot of people a severely injured because the seats have so much iron and other dangerous stuff exposed. To me, when these buses goes to renew their licence the should get a thorough check inside to have their passengers protected

Those bus drivers are criminals. Each time i have to take the bus, i am so afraid and pray…. Nus drivers have no respect, no conscious for life. Most of them need to stop do drive people. Taking the bus here is just a question of chance not being injured or killed.

:?: What’s wrong with these drivers, there’s no good roads to have such frequent accidents :?: This slave mentality island is full of people living reckless lives,so much foolishness and ignorance on that island!!!

Your comment: ‘that island’ implies that you have not visited Dominica in ages, so I will proceed to enlighten you.
The coastal roads are wide in certain areas and are larger than some roads within London.
The reason for this specific accident cannot be the road as it does not drive….
And many of the persons in Dominica do travel the same way you do…and are more than enlightened!!!!!

I do not know the circumstances of that accident but generally speaking riding in Dominica is very dangerous especially a passenger bus. I mean these drivers don’t make safety of their passengers a priority. So we have no speed limit, they driving drunk or charged, tires not good, police don’t care and frankly they are not equipped to implement safe driving, most of our drivers don’t visit a doctor so if they have high blood pressure or diabetes they don’t know and they don’t control it and many more issues that could put passenger’s, pedestrians and other motorists at high risk. But the sad thing is no one cares and sometimes some of these buses don’t even have insurance. Lord help us is country Skerrit say is not a real country.

All public service vehicle drivers should be exposed to Defensive Driving Techniques.

if those street lights were installed properly there would have been less injuries on this vehicle
the steal post are designed to be mounted at ground level so in the even of an accident the bolts holding them break at ground level causing less damage to the vehicle and reduced personal injury
but they seem to want to mount them on above ground concrete bollards so the safety built into the light columns are nullified because you end up hitting a big concrete block
    hence the injuries seen

Web boy Dominicans really something else. The man make a valid point about the poor emplacement of the streetlights, people disliking it. Them idiots rather hit a big concrete bollard and kill themselves rather than hit the metal that’s designed to snap off and prevent injuries or lesson them. That country really have tepid people in it.

If a motor vehicle hits a concrete block, the vehicle goes from what ever speed to zero instantly, while the vehicle stops the occupants continue to travel forward at the same velocity the vehicle carrying them was travelling at prior to the impact. This is the reason three point seat belts have been available in passenger vehicles from 1960..The seat belt mechanically connects you to the vehicle so when it stops you stop too …People use your seat belts, they are there for a reason. They save lives and limit injury.

The issue is that Buses should be at the Police for inspections of transportation vehicles every six months at MAX. These vehicles are on the roads with lights not working, bad tyres, bad brakes etc. They carry passengers with no respect for their lives and the police should change this to protect the public.

And they are all speeding on Dominica’s almost constantly wet roads to collect the next load of passengers ahead of the other buses!!

This is so unfortunate. I pray the medical people send the affected persons for thorough and advanced medical screening.

I hereby gently ask DNO not to post victims faces/identities on the news please especially in gruesome condition. It is very distasteful.

What’s the hell is going on with these drivers after each motor accident I hope the police is giving them abreathalyzer test? Those who fail should be disqualify from driving up to 1year heavy insurance premium, or jail just as they do in Europe and UK, job done.

The police are not equipped with breathalyzers. Only guns and ammunition.

You are so correct. What you missing is the phrase “to shoot, or take down the opposition at the request of cabalists”. We do have have some great not good but great caring officers but the force as is MUST be purged.

In Europe and I believe the U.S.A. And Canada too, drivers are also subject to on-the-spot tests for drug abuse. If you must enjoy your joint be my guest but be aware that it does influence driving ability, just like alcohol. Roadside testing in Dominica is long overdue.
