National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore has called on Dominicans to be more tolerant of each other in the New Year.
He was addressing the Eighth meeting of the First session of the Eleventh Parliament held recently.
“I particularly, Mr. Speaker, want to call on Dominicans to be a little more tolerant of each other,” he said. “As we move into the New Year with a record number of projects meant to transform this country, now is our time to play our part and to be each other’s keeper.”
He continued, “And we have to try to solve our differences without resorting to violence, without the taking of human lives.”
Blackmoore said the police will continue to do what they have to do to intensify its effort, “but we as individuals, as community, as family, have to play our role…”
Furthermore, he said communities need to embrace each other more.
“Yes, the police have to step up in terms of ensuring that communities are adequately policed and police officers respond quickly to people’s concerns and reports, but at the same time we are individuals, as family members, as community can ourselves resolve our issues and practice some form of tolerance,” Blackmoore stated.
Meanwhile, he reflected on a rendition from Deryck “King Hunter” St Rose who asked for a gentler and kinder nation.
“We need a gentler and kinder nation,” Blackmoore said. “This country is too small to have this kind of bad blood.”
He went on to state that those who are involved in the political field, “those of us who are involved in radio and various forms of mass communication must simmer down our rhetoric.”
“If every time you put on your radio you are hearing negative stuff, that can impact on your cycle,” Blackmoore remarked. “It’s time for us to embrace each other and support the best party in the political history of this country, The Dominica Labour Party.”

After I wrote my first comment I thought I errord, and I fact-check and I confused Reagan and Bush.
Any quotation with the words “a geñtler, kinder nation,” are the words of the late Ronald Reagan, former president of the United States of America, in that same speech he describe America as a ” shining city on a hill” in the 1980’s in his first address to the nation.
That can be fact-check, in order to verify who first used those words which I know did not originate in Dominica.

*police officers shooting and brutalizing unarmed citizens
*widespread disarray among officers
*completely beholden to the governing political elite
*the vast majority of citizens have zero confidence in this mongoose gang called a police organization
Without proper law and order a country is doomed for failure. Dominica is in serious peril. The country is disintegrating before our very eyes.
