CARICOM congratulates Guyana on 57th Independence Anniversary

As Guyana marks its 57th Independence Anniversary, the country has been praised for significantly enhancing the regional integration process by its leadership to advance Agriculture, Agricultural Diversification and Food Security.

CARICOM Secretary-General Dr Carla Barnett sent a congratulatory message to the President of Guyana His Excellency Dr Mohamed Irfaan Ali.

The SG’s message reads:

  “Excellency,

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) extends heartfelt congratulations to the Government and People of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on the occasion of the Fifty-Seventh Anniversary of Independence on 26 May 2023.

Since Independence, Guyana continues to make significant developmental progress and is setting global standards for the sustainable management and use of natural resources.

Excellency, CARICOM is sincerely appreciative of the unwavering commitment actively demonstrated by the Government and people of Guyana to our Community.

The regional integration process is significantly enhanced by Guyana’s leadership to advance Agriculture, Agricultural Diversification and Food Security, for which you, Mr President, have the lead responsibility in the Quasi-Cabinet of the Heads of Government.

We continue to acknowledge the ongoing warm hospitality extended by the Government to the Community as hosts of the CARICOM Secretariat.

It is our sincere hope that the country will draw on the resilience and indomitable spirit that forged its Independence to propel you towards an even more prosperous future.”
