CARICOM leaders call off retreat in Dominica

The planned two-day retreat for Caribbean Community (CARICOM) leaders in Dominica next week has been postponed.

During their 45th summit in Port of Spain last month, the regional leaders announced that they would conduct a two-day retreat to review various reports, such as regional governance and functional cooperation, in preparation for their upcoming mid-term summit in Guyana.

The reason for the postponement is still being determined at this time, but it appears that some expected attendees will not be able to make it.

Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, announced that he would be traveling to Barbados for a vacation with his family, during which he plans to discuss the future of West Indies cricket with various individuals.

“You know I have this assignment now to get involved in West Indies cricket, and I hope to start talking to some people there (in Barbados). I have made clear to all of us that we will lose the suits and ties and…we will be in T-shirts and jeans and shorts possibly focusing on some critically important issues of the community so that when we get to Guyana or even before we get to Guyana, we can put a number of issues in place and bring clarity to discussions and we’re hoping that that can become a regular feature,” Rowley said

The retreat was intended to review several reports, including regional governance and functional cooperation, before the next mid-term summit in Guyana.

Dominica’s Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt emphasized the importance of discussing tangible benefits for the people of the Caribbean Community, including trade barriers, global governance, and climate financing.

However, he did not provide specific details about the issues to be discussed at the postponed retreat.

Let’s call it by name. The other CARICOM leaders were ashamed to be seen associating themselves with Roosevelt Skerrit after news broke that the UK is now demanding visa from Dominicans to visit the UK because of Skerrit’s dangerous CBI passport sale. It’s like who wants to be seen in public with a known criminal? They know the fire they would go through in their country and to make matters worse they are all seeing the video of a FREE Dominica passport if anyone buys a house from those passport dealers of Skerrit in Dubai. Only in Dominica these foolishness happens and Skerrit is still PM

Why did it take CARICOM leaders so long to see that if they continue with Roosevelt Skerrit the UK and others will sanction them? CARICOM leaders just need to send Skerrit to Haiti so those Haitians could take good care of him for us. Isn’t Haiti part of CARICOM? Then send Roosevelt there

when you say that some members were not able to make it……..If the date was previously set then they should have already known who can make it……….and to pick another date that would be more convenient.

Global governance? Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerritt please, you have no effect, understanding, impact or bearing on global governance. You are not Barbados Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley! You and your corrupt bad governance in Dominica should instead focus on good governance. Try to give Dominica and Dominicans some good governance and put your country and all its people before your Labour party and your supporters only! History will be very unkind to you for that malpractice and your very bad governance.

Roosevelt has damaged Dominica beyond repair. He has uprooted ROSS, turned the parliament into a lunatic asylum, sold the national birds, now on the verge of selling the Botanical Garden.

Why would he want to bring all the Heads of CARICOM to Dominica? Only a colossal fool like the star boy of stupidity is capable of such thinking and action.

I more believe he is on the verge of selling you to Kim Jong Un, your next in kin. The Botanical Gardens in Dominica is the best I have ever seen in the whole caribbean. Why would he sell the Gardens and not you? You are of no importance, no significance in this country. Nobody knows you, nobody has even heard of you.

Why did he sell the national birds? No other head of even the most corrupt country in the universe has ever done such an unthinkable thing. Not even a ‘genius’ like you wth more degrees than a protractor can justify this insanity. Selling the national bird should land star boy of STUPIDITY in jail for the rest of his corrupt life.

Chair of CARICOM by default. Did he earn it on merit because of hard work? All the heads of CARICOM know star boy of stupidity is the weakest link among them.

Check out all of the heads academic prowess and juxtapose Roosevelt’s qualification with anyone of these men. Star boy of stupidity seems naked while the other are well clothed in their academic achievements.

This is typical Roosevelt. He is anxious to repair his bruised and tattered image by wanting to take credit for bringing the wholeof the quasi CARICOM Cabinet to Dominica.

What Dominicans desire most is an elevation in their ‘floor height’ standard of living. Imagine, at this time of year, hundreds probably thousands of young job seekers leaving secondary schools, colleges and universities are job hunting. The economy is still in its perennial anorexic state, so these young job aspirants will inevitably join the long, elastic unemployment line.

We are always ready. It is always the PMs of the other islands who are disorganized and never on schedule. They might be still shopping for a nice suit to wear in beautiful Dominica. Talking of abandonment, you do write like someone who has been abandoned for over 20 years, the precise time the Supreme Leader has been in power. Maybe they also want Lennox to be arrested and locked up before he comes uninvited and disrupt the proceedings as he normally does. Case in point – Guyana.

Star boy of stupidity is the master of procrastination. He has procrastinated exiting the kingly castle; replacing RUSM; rebuilding the public library; fully equipping the Margot hospital; revealing the whereabouts of the $7B from CBI; etc

You know i have a serious problem with CARICOM governments wanting to interfere with West Indies cricket!! Imagine a leader like Starboy of Stupidity, Skerrit, who killed ALL sports in Dominica, had Justina Charles and another lady from Paix Bouche constituency as Sport Ministers guiding West Indies cricket. Skerrit does not know the various colours of balls used in the various versions of the game, he most likely never touched a cricket bat, does not know the exploits of any great west Indian cricketer, he supervises a country which is decadance, etc, etc…Are those corrupt politicians trying to channel dirty money through cricket West Indies? I will ask Michael Holding!! But tell me if the stupid starboy will not kill cricket faster than he killed agriculture, killed the DLP constituion and all our institutions.
No wonder the clown was laughed at when he mentioned Rowley as his man to spearhead the future of West Indies cricket. Mano was also involved in West Indies cricket we!
