Yes, we need to vaccinate, but look around at all the other countries dropping restrictions and relying ONLY on vaccines and wishful thinking. That approach has failed spectacularly. We need to go back to the travel restrictions that worked for us. Ask the government of New Zealand, if advice is needed. You can’t run an economy without a healthy populace.

There are five reasons for everyone in Dominica to take the vaccine

1). It helps prevent you catching the virus. And it reduces how badly you will suffer from the virus.

2). It helps prevent you from passing the virus on to your family, your friends, your neighbours and your community.

3). If you don’t get vaccinated then Covid will continue to reduce the quality of all our lives in Dominica for many years to come. Obviously tourism is the main loss. But so is the cancellation of (say) World Creole Music Festival, Carnival, the ferry service to the French islands etc that ruined last year for so many people. And that was before Covid was rampant in our community.

4). Please consider the 6th Commandment. Thou Shalt Not Kill. How will you feel when you bring Covid into your community and it results in someone dying? So far 13 dead. But the end of this year the figure will be over 100 dead.

5). Yes there are risks in taking the vaccine. But they are microscopic.

Please stick to facts. Vaccines are beneficial, but here is no conceivable way to safely hold festivals during this pandemic. Not even if everyone got their shots today.

This idea that but for the unvaccinated, life would be normal is just spin. It led to the carrot and stick approach in which the CDC advised unmasking – with deadly results. Now the US numbers are worse than in 2020. People are adults, they can handle the truth: vaccines help keep us alive. Beyond that, we just have to wait and see.

How you figure somebody getting infected from a naturally occuring organism and dieing being the same thing as murder? Are you people really that out of your minds? So by that logic the people that sell fast food that cause people to have health problems that lead to their death are guilty of murder? When we going to start charging KFC, McDonalds etc. Lung cancer kills people every year but Hillsborough making bank on cigarrettes when we going to shut them down? All those accidents caused by drunk driving that take the lives of so many people. When we going to shut down the companies that produce alcoholic drinks?

Also does that mean that we should be doing something about China considering that’s where all this came from in the first place whether it was from a lab or just nasty people eating bats

Who the hell cares about Israel? I care about Dominica and the plight of its people. It is a scientific fact that vaccines greatly diminishes the effects of this darn virus so let’s stop looking for excuses for not doing the right thing.
    Take the vaccine and live.

This is a great question for the antivaxxers. Let them give us the solution to the mounting deaths since they have all the remedies for this deadly virus.

I just wish people like you would shut the hell up and stay out of our business. I know you are an employee of that Belfast guy. Get out of here.

Here is a question for the vaxxers – we had this virus for well over a year without these violent outbreaks and all these mutations popping up. Why is it that this started happening almost immediately after the vaccines were rolled out?

Why were we told months ago that the vaccines had 90%+ efficacy and that “breakthrough” cases were “rare” and are now being told that the vaccine cannot stop you from getting or spreading the virus but that it helps to mitigate symptoms.

Why are they already rolling out booster shots if the first vaccine was so effective?

Why are people who took the initiative of protecting themselves by getting the vaccine so concerned about others who haven’t? If your bullet proof vest works so well why do you care if someone else wears theirs?

We need more logic and less emotion. People die every day. It’s sad but that’s a fact of life. We cannot afford to lose what little freedom we have to TRY to prevent the inevitable

Everything but taking the vaccine to achieve the fable of herd immunity.. Where are the warp speed treatment options??

    • Ibo France
      September 27, 2021

I asked for the umpteenth time. Is Herd Immunity real or just a myth?

Israel should have already achieved herd immunity based on the percentage of its population that has been vaccinated. Astonishingly, the Coronavirus is causing havoc in Israel today by the shear number of newly infected citizens and residents.

Of all the countries in the world, not one has been able to achieve this apparently artificial milestone.

What is it Mr Ibo. I really like some of your articles but then I see inconsistencies. One day you advise to take the Jab next day you are against it. I don’t think the Vac can stop you from getting Covid as stated on previous conversations but there are benefits to being Vaccinated. Check the Data world wide most of the deceased were Unvac. 95%of those in the hospitals are Unvac. You seem to be a very intelligent human. Encourage your people to protect themselves. JUST SAYING…..FORGET a big country like Isreal. We are a as a mustard seed if placed there. Stop comparing

Mr. Ibo my favorite BLOGGER… Are you singing for your supper? Did you take the JAB. I like you anyway’ If you know it is poisonous why did you take it? I read you daily and I know you said you have taken it. WHY DID YOU if it is all bad. Why are you kinda discouraging people not to take it so concerned about HERD IMMUNITY…. Dominica my lovely beautiful Island is just a handful. Let us protect each other. Not with nice political words but facts.

Wow . Boy Everytime I get a new update more people dying. It’s a good thing when Covid was killing thousands of people everyday, Dominica did not have covid-19 let alone covid deaths. Otherwise by now maybe only Skerrit and Chinese would remain in Dominica as all Dominicans would be home.

Nothing much you can do after somebody’s died, apart from burying or cremating them. It would appear that our health service is now overwhelmed due to the high volume of COVID cases. Not sure if there are adequate ventilators or health care personnel to handle the situation. Evidence show that the vaccine greatly reduces hospitalisation once people get infected, yet Dominicans are reluctant to come forward for the vaccines. This will obviously result in a steep incline of COVID deaths as the DELTA variation continue to spread unabated. The government will have to consider mandatory vaccination if the situation doesn’t improve quickly.
