The 16th edition of the DBS Radio, Felix Henderson, Ministry of Education, National Reading Competition was officially launched on Tuesday.
The competition is set to begin on April 15th, 2026.
The launching ceremony was held at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Global Campus on Tuesday under the theme: “Reading and Literature”.
“ Today, we celebrate the DBS Radio, Ministry of Education. Felix Henderson, National Reading Competition, a beacon of illuminating young minds, ages 10 and under, across Dominica, 16th Triumphant Edition,” Coordinator of the DBS Radio National Reading Competition Ronillia Williams said.
As coordinator of the DBS Radio National Reading Competition, she extended profound gratitude to DBS Radio and the Ministry of Education for their unwavering commitment.
“Over the years, both institutions have sustained, grown, and elevated this platform into Dominica’s premier literacy initiative for our children,” Williams stated. “Primary schools excel by selecting readers who embody their literacy focus. They are our true ambassadors.”
She told teachers that their guidance shines through children’s habits, forging cultural heritage in each community, and family traditions that bind generations with deep respect for reading.
Kierra John of Sineku Primary School won last year’s competition.
What polish does to the shoe reading does to the mind. Commendation is in order for the organizers and sponsors of this activity. Keep it going and growing.
We should have one for adults also. I’m most confident that Lin Clown alias Labour Powerless will own the rearmost position.
