Roseau, Dominica – Digicel+, through its back-to-school initiative, assisted six families with getting ready for the upcoming school term.
Working with the Welfare Division under the Ministry of Health, Wellness and Social Services and Wesley High School, Digicel+ was able to offer support to families from the communities of Portsmouth, Castle Bruce, Fond Cole, Pichelin, Canefield, and Belles.
Sixteen children, representing the total number of children among the six families, received complimentary backpacks filled with stationery, and each family received a $500 grocery voucher, cosponsored by J. Astaphan & Company Limited.
Digicel+ has also committed to further assisting two deserving students from Belles as part of its back-to-school activities. These students, who currently attend Wesley High School, will benefit from Digicel+ sponsoring their tuition and snacks for the 2023/2024 academic year. They also each received complimentary handsets and will have access to six months of home internet at no cost.
Victor Kovacs, Chief Executive Officer said, “One thing that impresses me most about Dominica is the commitment to education. Parents go the extra mile to ensure that their children receive the best education possible, and Digicel wants to honour that by supporting deserving families wherever we can. The children of these six families will go on to do incredible things and Digicel+ is elated to give back to the people of Dominica.”
