The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is currently investigating the discovery of a body inside a vehicle and the drowning of a toddler in Colihaut. Inspector of Police Fixton Henderson reported that on Saturday, September 16, 2023, at about 3:20 p.m., the decomposed body of an unidentified male individual was discovered in a Rav4 vehicle which was parked on High Street, Roseau in the parking area between the traffic department and the youth development division.
Following the grim discovery, he stated the body was examined and pronounced dead at the scene that same afternoon by a medical doctor and is being kept at a funeral home pending an autopsy.
“The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed,” Henderson reported, further stating that the matter is currently under investigation.
Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation into the suspected drowning of a toddler aged 1 year and six months. Information is that on September 17, 2023, sometime after 12:00 p.m., the toddler was seen by villagers floating in the sea. Dominica News Online (DNO) was informed that he was then rushed to the hospital but attempts made to resuscitate him proved futile and he was later pronounced dead. DNO will continue to follow this story and report any new developments as the investigation unfolds.
