Dominica Police Force makes public request for settling of outstanding legal fines

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) is sending a strong appeal to persons with outstanding court-imposed fines, to settle those fines immediately.

This is according to Police Inspector Fixton Henderson in a statement released on Tuesday.

“The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force is appealing to members of the public who are in default of payments with respect to fines imposed by the court in the Commonwealth of Dominica to ensure that all efforts are made to pay those outstanding fines with immediate effect,” he said.

The number of persons with outstanding court payments was not revealed.

Why should the people pay in time if the government led by all you political masters either don’t pay at all or very late. What’s good for the goose is good for the gander!!!

Since when police making public statements to pay fine? But what is wrong with this country. I know that’s the job of a bailiff or the person’s responsibility to send out outstanding warrants when a fine is not paid but for the police to make such a statement is the work of Skerritt to pay workers. This is beyond madness. Laughable

Asking people to pay court imposed fines is not the job of the police. As Francisco correctly said, there ought to be a process to collect or punish those who fail to adhere to the court’s judgements and the police should be there to enforce the law.

What process? If you are fined by the court and no payment is made by the due date you can be taken into custody, so all the police is saying pay up to avoid inconvenience and embarrassment.

When people open their stink hole without knowledge, that’s how they speak. The bailiff deals with fines in private matters whilst the police deals with fines in criminal and traffic matters. I hope i said it simple enough so people like zandoli and where is justice understand.

DNO forgive my language but law in dominica is one sided. A police officer was issued a order to pay a civilian.. Up to now commissioner hasn’t paid the civilian on behalf of the officer. How corrupt can you be when the police is not adhering to the court order. I myself waiting for police.. Judge.. Jury… God is my witness.. I waiting….

I have no problems with this request. You do the crime, by right, you pay the fine (penalty).

My problem with this ‘law enforcement’ organisation, it does more harm than good to the psyche of the people. Here are the objective facts:
*The number of unsolved murders and missing people is unacceptable
*Much too high-handed in their interaction with the public
*There is an absence of Community Policing (A highly successful police organization depends on eye witnesses to solve crimes)
*The public has zero trust and confidence in the police ability to protect and serve them well

Take a nationwide poll about public confidence in the local police. Unsurprisingly, the result will be way under 5%.

      • September 7, 2023

The so called dishonest hotelier, was given the money by the UWP with a contract that was seriously flawed.

      • Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque
        September 9, 2023

Within the four years, the UWP served the country; Tony Astaphan allegedly claimed that the members thief so much out of the treasury, so much so that they left it empty!

However, when asks where they have the money; he exclaimed that the thieves in the UWP are so clever and know how to hide it all, where it cannot be found; and so he Mr. Tony would have to bring in some forensic experts capable of finding where the UWP snatch of thievery is hidden.

However; after more than twenty years, the forensics exports are still searching I suppose, without success!

Seven billion dollars is a pile of money; I doh know if Roosevelt deep pocket can accommodate all of that; which I believe it can; so when we rid the country of Roosevelt; Tony will have to hire new forensics exports to hunt down the Roosevelt Skerrit hidden treasures, since the former are still hunting for Edison James and the UWP hidden none existent thieving treasurer oui!

        Hahahahahahahahahahahahahah!

Dominica is always the the first for everything!
The bush-police-force or judicial system have been reduced to a beggar organization; in the first place the police force should not be issuing or asking people to pay their debt.
That is a court imposed sanction, therefore if the period of time the court gives the convict to pay the; has expired without him/or her satisfying the court, then a warrant should be issued and only then the police should become involved to seek out and arrest the one who owes the court, and take them to serve time for not paying the fine.

In Dominica people commit crime because they are poor and hungry, they no source of employment, no source of income, and if that’s what cause them to commit the crime in the first place, where are they going to get the money to pay the court impose crime.

Many may just prefer to the time jail, where their three meals per day are granted’ personally that’s the route I would take!

    Hahahahahahahahahahah!

Keystone Cops: Fictional, humorously incompetent policemen. The name has since been used to criticize similar groups for its mistakes and lack of coordination, particularly when showing traits of always carrying out the wrong tasks in the wring way.

Legitimate Police Officers: Serves to maintain law and order in local areas by protecting members of the public and their property, preventing crime, reducing the fear of crime and improving the quality of life for all citizens.

Quote: If you just make every effort to do the right thing, you’ll come out ok. It comes down to priorities and making good decisions.

Indeed my friend it seems to me that they have become a bush police force; s when I was a kid in our village of Wesley, there were some people who could not read or write; illiterate more than a duck.
Nevertheless, they could lecture the most highly educated person on law, medicine, or any subject matter; so people dubbed them bush-lawyers, and bush doctors!
As for the bush doctor thing, to this day there are plenty of them all over Dominica, someone someone has a headache, a bush will tell them: cut a large wild cold-tanya leaf, heat and wrap it over their head, wrap a towel over it, and that will stop their head from hurting.
Now in Dominica poor dental hygiene is a problem; lack of cleaning one’s tooth below the gum line the hard food settles against the nerve, causing painful headaches.
Diabetics are told to “drink bush” all they are doing is drinking the secretion of chlorophyll; the green pigment present in all green plant and cyanobacteria. (Review photosynthesis).

      • Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque
        September 9, 2023

I think I should elaborate on this a bit more: The bush doctors in Dominica have a different or sometimes the same bush that can cure every diseases. I agree that when our ancestors were brought to the Americas, as slaves, they brought along their African tradition.

But even in Africa the bush medicine did not work, their people are dying to this day if they do not indulged in modern medicine.

So, this bush thing in Dominica is simple a mater of ingesting chlorophyll which is responsible for the absorption of light to provide energy for photosynthesis.

Its molecule contains magnesium atom held in a porphyrin ring. Although magnesium is a chemical that the body requires, I doubt it can be used for the cure of every illness; it is a simple mineral, which serves nerves, muscles, and heart function too.

And I done, cause I dumb you see, I doh know nufing bout medicine, so I oh talking eh!

The public makes a request for the resignation of Lincoln Corbett for his involvement of the choksi matter. He is a disgrace to the integrity and discipline of the once respected institution. People like this cannot be allowed to continue to bring down the standards. If that is not done then I implore the public to be non compliant with any fines owed.
