@DNO I can’t talk about MSC Seaside, but the stated numbers for AIDAdiva are plain wrong. The passenger capacity of AIDAdiva is 2050 at double-occupancy. When ALL additional (3rd and 4th) beds are booked (which never happens) the capacity is 2500. The stated 3256 passengers sound alot like AIDAperla which is a different ship.
So the statement Dominica would welcome over 8000 passengers is untrue, even in the very unlikely case of 100% occupancy (incl 3rd and 4th beds) on both ships.

8000 passangers…. NO TOURISM PRODUCT… 8000 people aren’t leaving their ship to travel on tiny winding roads to watch a 30 ft waterfall for 10 minutes

What this and other governments the Caribbean do is to give the capacity of passengers the ship can accommodate. They do not give the figures as to how many passengers disembarked, spend time touring on land, and an educated estimate as to how much money they spend.

This government distorts reality to mislead the unsuspecting into thinking that the economy is buoyant, and the country is much better than its neighbours. Lies, deceit and diversion are the mantra of this pappyshow, namby-pamby totalitarian government.

The most important question, how much money on average does each of these passengers spent in Dominica, remains unanswered. It’s not much for sure and if one considers the negative impact on the environment, it’s nothing… a no brainer. Sorry, it’s just another propaganda stunt that yields nothing!

  9. Hello
    January 26, 2024

So for people like me that can’t count to 100, how many of the 8000 passengers will actually come on shore, take tours and spend money here?
Does that compare us to islands like Antigua, St Kitts, etc which are in our economic space?
Remember it’s not just Skerrit’s clappers that read those information. Remember Skerrit told them he has health insurance, his family has, but what about you all, and they started to CLAP?
Tourism in Dominica is on its last leg. Go fix the route to many of our natural sites.
