In the midst of the hysteria surrounding the outbreak of the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV), a young Dominican student residing in Beijing, hopes to assure the public that authorities are working to ensure the students’ safety.

The current outbreak of the novel coronavirus was first reported from Wuhan, China on December 31, 2019.

Since then, according to a situation report released by the World Health Organization (WHO), on February 3, 2020, there have been 17,391 confirmed cases of persons infected with the virus globally— with 153 of these cases occurring in 23 countries apart from China.

In an exclusive interview with Dominica News Online (DNO), the student (who wished to remain anonymous) revealed that Chinese authorities are taking precautions to preserve students’ health.

“The school has ensured that people who [have] left do not come back until the virus has cleared out… I live at the school, and the school is taking care of us—sometimes they give us masks, sometimes they come to clean or disinfect the room,” the student explained. “They [Chinese officials] pass on to the teachers at our school to tell us how to keep safe … I can’t really go out of the campus; the canteen has just opened so we can get our food.”

The student divulged that all students are currently under quarantine and are “forbidden to go outside, unless it’s serious.”

The student also noted that “one person, on behalf of the government of Dominica, has asked me how I’m doing.”

Due to the measures being taken, and the information available on the virus, the student said that they feel little worry about contracting the virus.

“The virus doesn’t really bother me because it’s like the flu. So, I’m not scared about the virus,” the student explained. “My family is worried about me, so that makes me a little afraid. I feel safe in school because the school is trying their best to keep us safe from the virus.”

The student went on to say, “I have hope that one day they will fight it. Right now the recovery rate is higher than the death rate… People with weaker immune systems, old people, and those who have other health conditions [are those] who are dying from it. We just have to take care of our bodies and try to build up our immune systems.”

Despite this, the student stated that they, the Dominican citizens housed at the establishment, would prefer to return home at this time.

In China, to date, there have been 425 deaths related to the coronavirus, with over 20,500 worldwide infected with 2 deaths outside China attributed to the coronavirus.

The World Health Organization (WHO) advises people of all ages to take steps to protect themselves from the virus, and to educate themselves on the facts concerning (2019-nCoV).

But that’s a positive for the government so why so much fear? What is that student afraid of why he doesn’t want to give his name or wants his voice heard? How does a news outlet like DNO even publish that and expect us to be comforted by that?

Fellow Dominicans, King David said to God pertaining to his existence in the body, which is about all of mankind

    @Pslam 139 Verse16, David said to God:

“Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, the days fashioned for me when as yet there were none of them.”

David is saying that long before he entered his mother’s womb, God had already planned how he would live in the body until his days in that body expired–what we call the passing.

I am not saying that we should all just sit around, without concern about what is happening around us, but it is God who planned our Life and what He has planned is what will come forth.

I just hate to read things like: “don’t let Chinese people come to Dominica to bring or spread their “coronavirus virus” among us.

People, is there any way we can learn to think positively? Does anyone think that there is a God of Life, who wants this Life in us, in all its glory?

Trust me no student wrote this koshonie.

This is just part of the usual make up stuff and lies that the authorities are known for forcing on us with hope to blind us.

When their backs are against the wall where public opinion is concerned, the authorities like to press some entity to make a public statement or they fabricate their own statement.

    Heights of deceit!!!!!!

ADMIN: This article was taken from an uncoerced audio interview with the student, the audio wasn’t published as the student declined to have their name be made public.

Anyone in their situation would. But at this time I don’t think it is wise to do so…unless they are quarantined for the two-week incubation period to ensure that they do not have the virus or some other method. But without that you are putting too many people at risk…and not just Dominicans – you are talking about everyone on that international flight who would be going home to their respective countries…so for now I think the best thing for them and everyone else is just what is happening now – stay at the school, build up their immune systems, clean and sanitize regularly and just wait it out.

You got it right on point! The Chinese are being very meticulous about stopping the spread and right now the propagation of the virus has decreased. It’s normal that the situation makes them anxious but it will be over.
Many flights have been cancelled to and from certain parts of the world; Italy under lockdown. So basically flying back home now would probably not be the best option. Dominican born so Dominican Strong!
