Denny Shillingford of St. Joseph who was remanded into custody in relation to the fire at the home of the late G.O.N Emmanuel is now a free man, as the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) has filed a notice of discontinuance in the matter.
Shillingford who confessed to the alleged crime which occurred on December 25, 2010, was later charged in 2013 with arson. According to him, he set fire to the home of the former Chief Magistrate based on the directives of Earl ‘Seko’ Grant who was also charged with conspiracy to commit arson.
In his confession, Shillingford said he was paid in part to carry out the firebombing on Emanuel’s home. He said he was coming clean because those who instructed him did not stick to their end of the bargain.
Following the Preliminary Inquiry at the Magistrate’s court, Shillingford was indicted on a lesser charge of malicious damage. However, when the matter came for hearing on June 9, 2023, the DPP, Sherma Dalrymple informed the court of the notice of discontinuance.
Consequently, Shillingford walked away from the court a free man. He he was represented by attorney-at-law David Bruney.

As the saying goes, justice delayed is justice denied. The alleged perpetrator confessed to the act yet the judiciary permitted the matter to drag on long enough such that the victim wasn’t able to get the benefit of litigation. Someone once said that Dominica isn’t a real country, well here’s proof of that in this case matter and so many more which have been discontinued.
Another one again, were is justice for the victims? How can the country be safe with so many discontinued case what a mess.

Investigation revealed the same Asian who gave OJ the letter is the very same one who was Aljazeera man in Panama.That is what started the investigation…

Here is an arsonist who admitted to firebombing the house of a citizen walking free because of the discontinuance f the case by the DPP. The man confessed to the crime.
Now we have Messrs Linton, Fontaine, et al parading before the curt for six years and counting, no evidence of any crime, but the case goes on. Is Dominica a real country? ABSOLUTELY NOT! Dominica is on the verge of fast becoming stateless.

Without a doubt! Two things that are a common practice in dictatorship are:
1. The dictator uses the military ( armed forces)
2. The court (corrupt judicial system) is used to his whim and fancy.
The court jails opponents of the ring regime and the militia intimidates, oppressed and even kills those who are perceived as agitators for political change.
How much longer will this Roosevelt led despotism continue? Even after his death G.O.N Emmanuel is being victimised. Imagine that!
