A family from La Plaine is desperately searching for their missing relative, Anthonely Nelly Prosper. The senior citizen, who reportedly suffers from dementia, was last seen on Friday night. As the family anxiously awaits any information regarding his whereabouts, they are reaching out to the public for help.
Oscar Graham, Prosper’s nephew, provided details of the disappearance during an interview with Dominica News Online (DNO). According to Graham, his uncle was dropped off at his residence by a neighbour, one of his caretakers, on January 26, between 8:30 and 9:00, after attending church. The following morning, when the caretaker visited Prosper’s home to check on him, she discovered that he was not there.
Initially assuming he might have ventured into the village, upon her return hours later to check on him, she observed that his bed had remained just as she had left it the previous day. Worried about his well-being, she promptly informed the family, who, in turn, reported the situation to the local police.
Since then, a Domlec worker has come forward with a potential sighting of Prosper. The worker reported seeing him around 1 a.m. on Sunday near the entrance by three rivers, after finishing work in Rosalie. This information has raised the family’s hopes but has also intensified their anxiety about Prosper’s well-being.
The Laplaine resident in his early 70s, was last seen wearing a pair of green sneakers, short pants, and either a black or green coat. Given his condition and the urgency of the situation, the family is appealing to the community for any information that might help locate him.
The Prosper family is urging anyone with information that could lead to the whereabouts of Mr. Prosper to come forward. Those who may have seen him or have any information about his disappearance are encouraged to contact the La Plaine Police Station at 767-266-4675.
Hello and good evening my people. I am sorry to hear about one of our elders missing from my village. I hope some of the young men who seat by the cross all day would form a search party to locate our elder. Please start where he was last seen by the government worker because if he enter water he could get wash away into the sea. Time is of essence.
Domlec worker saw an elder man at 1 am by the river and did not attend to the man. He did not stop to think that is is unusual for an elder man to be in the area at this time in the morning. He could at least drive the man to the police station.
So why isn’t a community search set up. Contact St Nicholas Animal Rescue. They supposedly have a trained search and Rescue dog. Time is of the essence. I hope that he is soon found.
Hope he will be returned safe his family. Dementia is a very devastating disease. These patients need to be closely monitored. May God tender mercies be with him in this time of great uncertainty.
I feel for this family. My uncle has dementia and wandered off a couple years ago. Our family was very distraught not knowing where he was and worse yet, not knowing what his condition was, while he was away.
Fortunately, he was found, in a tartered state the following day.
Check the rivers. Get divers to look. He could have fallen. Get dogs to help make them smell his clothes. Hope he is found soon.
But what is happening in this country? Just last week i commented on the disappearance of a missing person, today i am reading of another? I will state the same thing. Are there people out there responsible for those disappearances? Have those political and lazy police officers been taking those reports seriously?
Can the police tell Dominicans how many citizens have been reported missing over the past 5 years?
It’s shameful and dam scary too, that in a small country like ours, we have so many reports of missing people, many without a trace.
