My communist breakfast

A cup of tea, some sugar to sweeten it and a leader who appears to be excavating the bones of Hitler himself. Now while I have no interest in politics it is getting to the point where politics is becoming a prayer. It seems like the people involved want to blast the air waves with various aspects of communism that our leader seem to portray.

America is in a state of crisis… GUESS WHAT!!! their economy is crashing and no one wants to collaborate with each other to achieve the stability and sovereignty that once ruled this great nation. They are in trillions of dollars in debt to themselves (owing various individuals and institutions, owing retirement funds including military and even Social Security), various foreign nations including China, Japan and the UK and they also owe oil exporters. China alone owns more treasuries than the US Federal reserve owns.

Honorable Roosevelt Skerritt is trying to develop our country and evidently he cannot accomplish this task on our tax money alone. He has to seek help from foreign sources. Most likely he went to the American government for help and they turned him down because they can’t even manage their own ridiculous spending habits. Even if he didn’t consult the American Government for help (I personally wouldn’t), it was a smart move because what would happen is that he would either be paying back a high interest rate or stuck in debt along with America.

Picture it like this if you owe $1,000 and all of your bills and other ‘useless necessities’ come up to $900 a month, then it will take you 10 months to pay back your debt. If someone comes and asks you for a loan of $200 that puts you further into debt. You would either lend them the money or set the interest rate high so that you make back the money that is sending you further into debt (inconvenience fee). Your other obvious option would be to say no, that you are over and beyond in your means and cannot facilitate a loan.

Therefore if America turned us down or our dear Prime Minister assumed that the interest rate paying back the Americans would be to high the obvious move would be to go somewhere else. This is where the Chinese, Venezuelans and Cubans come in. They give us lower interest rates and are able to give us more. It would be absolutely absurd to take a loan from FAST CASH with high interest rates when NDFD is more financially feasible. Yes it may take longer based on the resources available and the amount of people thinking JUST LIKE YOU! But in the end it is more beneficial for both parties.

While I am one who believes in a fair system even if communism seems to be the battering ram trying to break down everyone else’s free thinking, we are far from communism. Quiet people in truth are the people who can reserve their anger. Look at a mercury thermometer it reports the temperature normally on point, everyday regardless of whether it is hot or cold or if people complain it is too hot or not.

Honorable Roosevelt Skerritt is like that heavy metal liquid, in normal temperatures he normally does his job, provide jobs, generate revenue try to keep us from ending up like Good Ol’ America. IN DEBT!!! But sadly like mercury he is a bad conductor of heat, the more heat you apply to mercury the more it rises in that thermometer until it bursts through the top of the glass containment that it is refined to.

Hence the recent lashing out from our Prime Minister, when he said that “the only people that going to push me out of this thing is the people of Dominica that voted for me and more importantly the people of the Vielle Case constituency.” Seeing as this is a democracy and our Prime Minister is doing nothing wrong there is no reason to break the law and form a coup or take to the air waves and pry ourselves into his life on a constant basis.

I will admit that I don’t totally agree with everything that our PM does, no one totally agrees with everything someone says but this aggression against his every move is becoming a personal issue that does not have the country’s best interest at heart. The human brain is weird in the sense that as soon as something seems threatening or not in line with what you picture in your head we riot against it, when we get our way and realize hey things aren’t so much different from before we begin to regret the decision.

I suggest we stop poisoning each other with the useless political debates, the useless hullabaloo about our allies, and let’s go for nation building. When one government fails instead of slamming them at your next convention point out their flaws and how you would improve on it.

Peace my people, peace.

I grew up believing the propaganda of the West, communism was bad capitalism was good.
then Eugenia and the freedom party sold the Caribbean and the rest of the Caribbean to Reagan and America, results, Dominica had a brain drain, the whole Caribbean had a brain drain, their economies were destroyed.
Today America capitalist policies have come home to bite her,and the real hatred for black people is being demonstrated in the inability to come to a common consensus, because the far right, religious far right have decided to bring down the black man who dared to be president.
Sadly their are black people who can always be bought, and so they will do their best to bring down another black man who is doing his best for the island.
They did it to E.O Leblance until he resign in disgust and to protect his family. They did it to Patrick John, they used the young people and the black power movement to disrupt his government, then they used the civil service movement, then they used the FBI and planned coup, and staged it and threw him in jail for 15 years, and they got rid of the Workers party because Timothy actually knew about economics and was stimulating our economy.
Sadly today as a black people we don’t know how to work together, we are fulfilling the Lynch prophecy that jealousy is greater than loyalty to our selves.
I love both Britain and America for they created me, but one thing I have learn about the white race, they have one common policy for their countries, until they put a black man in the white house it was business as usual no matter which party was in power, but we as a people don’t understand,America does not care for us,neither does the Chinese, it is business.
Our Prime Minister is a statesman he is making alliances with countries who can help us financially, it is business. He has the wisdom to understand that. Time for us to grow up and stop being fooled.
He also have to make laws to protect the Dominican people from foreign interest.
We need to work together, break the cycle of distrust of one another.

What do you mean honest leaders???? Like Obama right??? Get with the program…if you want honesty, go to some Penetecostal Pastor…they know all about Honesty.

What is politically and diplonmatically right might not be honest…but Governement are here to provide the services and the security for the country to function.

The US shouldn’t blame Obama for all the stuff he promised and maybe only 25% got accomplished…then turn around an say he is dishonest…NO WAY.

There are lots of truths in this article and I’m saddened that the most influential ones in our society do not see it this way.
We need to wake up and smell the coffee. While everyone is misguided by the misconception that America is the answer, we need to face the reality. Just look around our region, what is America doing for us?
Grenada’s, Bahamas, St Vincent – where are their help coming from?
Even Trinidad and Jamaica recently signed deals with China. It is obvious who are the ones willing to help.
We need to adopt the notion, I scratch your back you scratch mine. Fidel understood this 50 years ago the USSR offered the olive branch, after America gruesomely oppressed more than 10 million persons with the embargo against Cuba. So what is taking us so long? When will we wake up and smell la café dominique? Unlike the writer of this article, I don’t listen anymore- these programs are nothing more than a vexation to my spirit and a becoming way of life that I refuse to live.

Do you follow regional news? Have you not seen all the postings right here on DNO about all the other C/bean islands who are also going to these same countries?

So is that the reason all these gov’ts are turning away from the US and embracing relations with the Chinese etc?

You are so ignorant!! The US’ idea of giving development money is to send down the IMF to dictate to countries how to run their economy.

“A cup of tea, some sugar to sweeten it and a leader who appears to be excavating the bones of Hitler himself.”

You see, this is where problems start. Hitler’s bones? Really? Do you know ANYTHING about Hitler, sir? Because if you do, I am shocked beyond belief that you think calling Skerrit a future Hitler accurate. Hitler was responsible for the extermination of vast quantities of people he did not like, primarily (though certainly not limited to) Jews, as well as the mass ejection of Jews from Germany; he also was a prime mover in a world war. Hitler attempted to turn Germany into an almost literal world power where a certain race, the “Aryan,” would live.

Sounds a little more extreme than Skerrit, doesn’t it!

This brings me to your title. Since you begin with Hitler in your first sentence, I am led to believe that Hitler was a communist. This is simply untrue; Hitler was in fact an enemy of communism. Communism and dictatorship are not the same. Most attempts at communism have been dictatorships baring little to no relation to Marx’s writings.

At very least, remove the first sentence, since it is an unpardonable mistake.

    • forreal
      October 10, 2011

humanist again you are missing the point, what the writer is trying to say that skerrit is going so deep,it like he is asking the devil for money to develop dominica,in other words he is not going to america for aide,in fact to it is america’s enemy’s,do you see what i am saying, that is why he mentioned hitler’s bones,he was drawing reference to all the criticism that skerrit is undergoing,he is putting his head in the lions jaw, read the article again.

      • Humanist
        October 10, 2011

Ah, so I’m missing the point when I point out two glaring historical mistakes and then tell the poster to remove the sentence containing the mistake. I see. I only told him to remove one sentence, but I have “missed the point” of the entire article. Wonderful. Misunderstanding history and writing out those misunderstandings to unintentionally confuse others is a GOOD thing. After all, Skerrit will soon start committing mass murders and will eject all people of a certain race out of the country and will proclaim Dominica a nation of one superhuman race, and all because he’s a “communist,” even though that stuff is not related to communism. Yep, good stuff there, indeed. Note again that I am referring to ONE sentence.

I think you have missed the point of my point. Like, for real.

      October 10, 2011

      @Humanist
very well said man. Most people are blatantly ignorant of pertinent facts, like the one you mentioned about the difference between communism and dictatorship.

You see the thing about ignorance is that it usually encompasses ignorance of the condition of ignorance. What I mean to say is that people who don’t know usually don’t know that they don’t know. That’s why you have uneducated, uninformed people spouting such inane garbage with such confidence.

Again I must say very well said.

      • forreal
        October 10, 2011

thinker you are confused yourself, this man is comparing skerrit with hitler, and you do not see that as ignorance, and all i am simply saying this not what the article is stating, the article is only drawing a referrence, not a conclusion, that the pm is like hitler, that is why i said read the article again, the article is referring to the fact that the prime minister is going so deep for help and where he is going for it,is like he is going to hitler.
