Sean Douglas crying over spilt milk – Eisenhower Douglas

Sean Douglas

Reference is made to an article by Mr. Sean Douglas, former Government Press Secretary. In that article, Sean sought to portray Prime Minister Skerrit and the Government as dishonest or wicked by, according to him, freeing his conscience and explaining to the world … the set of circumstances which culminated in his “dismissal” as Government Press Secretary after nine years of dedicated service.

The evidence is that Sean was not dismissed as the Government Press Secretary; rather, by opting not to sign the contract for continuing employment with the State, he de facto dismissed himself. The contract at reference was prepared under the authority of the Permanent Secretary, Office of the Prime Minister, in keeping with the underlying Cabinet Decision pertaining to his employment.

In any democratic society, a citizen has the right not to accept a contract when offered by exercising his/her Free Will. Moreover, nobody has a legal right to employment by the State whether in Dominica or elsewhere; after nine years of service in the same post perhaps it was time for Sean to move on.

However, as indicated by Sean in the said article, his disenchantment with Government began long before he vacated the post in August 2010 at Government Information Service (GIS). The tradition in such situations of disenchantment under the British Westminster System of Government, inherited by Dominica in 1978, is for the individual at reference to resign. Rather, Sean opted not to resign, a situation which resulted in him being “dismissed” or “sacked”, as was stated by him in the said article.

Those factors aside, our concern is with Sean’s priorities as an adult age 43, unmarried and without children. As RBD (Sean’s Grandfather) would often say, “a man who does not know on which side his bread is buttered is not fit to live”.

Since Sean’s departure from the employment of Government approximately one year ago he has been residing mainly on family property in Portsmouth and Hampstead. The question could therefore be asked what has been his contribution to the Family Business particularly in exchange for his board and lodge?

Moreover, for a period of approximately eight weeks beginning May 12 2011, Sean was in Martinique with his Uncle, Mac Douglas, who was ill in hospital there, and who continues to be ill albeit not in hospital. A void has therefore been created in the management of the Family Business, Arbeedee Ltd., arising from the absence of Mac.

It had been expected by several family members that Sean would have demonstrated a willingness and capacity to fill that void created by the absence of Mac, at least in part, particularly mindful of the fact that he had virtually lived with Mac, Manager of Arbeedee Ltd., for the preceding several months. Sadly, the evidence thus far is that development of the Family Business does not constitute a priority for Sean.

By contrast, when a void in management of the country was created on January 6, 2004 arising from the departure of Pierre Charles, Roosevelt Skerrit promptly took on that responsibility.

Notwithstanding his imperfections, or the fact that he is younger than Sean, a majority of Dominicans endorsed his leadership at the General Elections of May 2005 and again at the General Elections of December 2009. Today, the unbiased observer would admit that conditions in the economy and the society are significantly better now than in the 2002-2004 period.

Similarly, when the void was created in management of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) arising from the death of its then leader Hon. Michael Douglas in 1992, Member of Parliament (MP) for the Portsmouth Constituency for 17 consecutive years, the responsibility fell to Sean’s Uncle, Roosevelt (Rosie) Douglas, to respond to this challenge; and so he did. Further, the Foreign Policy of the current DLP led Government is broadly consistent with the ideals of Rosie Douglas; in particular, the establishment of Diplomatic Relations with the People’s Republic of China (PRC). However, governance arrangements for a country in 2011 cannot be conducted in a manner identical to what it was in 2000, or indeed in 1980, the year Eugenia Charles became Prime Minister. Such matters are dynamic and so the political directorate must adapt or perish.

In retrospect, it could be said that Rosie’s greatest legacy to the people of Dominica was his role in the return of the DLP to Government in this country in February 2000. Those who knew Rosie back then and earlier in his life would say that it was while making the transition during this crucial period that he abandoned the philosophy of Communism and embraced Democracy. Indeed there are several colleagues of Rosie from that era who failed to make the transition at reference and as a result have remained in the political wilderness of this country.

Robert Bernard Douglas (RBD) was a politician and businessman who served as an elected Member of Parliament (MP) in this country during the 1950s. It was from him that his sons Michael and Rosie got their early introduction to politics and apparently they enjoyed it. The record will show that the latter two individuals were expert politicians. On the other hand, Mac Douglas who sought to follow RBD’s footsteps in business cannot properly be characterized as an expert businessman. Hence over the years since the death of RBD in 1988, the Family Business, Arbeedee Ltd., has only been marginally successful. Accordingly, while the legacy of RBD in politics is superb, in business it is mediocre. A viable and profitable Arbeedee Ltd. therefore constitutes part of the unfinished agenda of the descendants of Robert and Bernadette Douglas.

Within that context, the contents of Sean’s article are not only misleading but are tantamount to “crying over spilled milk”. Sean has a historic opportunity entrusted upon him by fate in a manner not dissimilar to his Uncle Rosie in 1992 or Roosevelt Skerrit in 2004. His deceased “mentor” and Uncle (Rosie) as well as his Grandfather (RBD) would “turn in their grave” should he continue to shirk that responsibility. At least Mac took on the responsibility at reference albeit he was not successful at it.

Rest assured that most family members are ready to give Sean the encouragement and support that is necessary in this perceived new role within the present management team of Arbeedee Ltd., mindful of the inherent implications for Disposable Income, Employment and Corporate Social Responsibility among other benefits, notably for the north of the island. In retrospect, Sean’s departure from Government’s employment may be a blessing in disguise.

Eisenhower Douglas is the uncle of Sean Douglas.

I could say some things here that could seriously discredit Mr. Eisenhower Douglas and tell the world what I think of him in light of him trying to tell the DNO how weak of a man Sean is. I am a descendant of the Douglas’ but carry a different last name…and I am glad because the woman that bore me and raised me gave me her last name and I will always be part of her lineage.

I will say though that Mr. Eisenhower Douglas has absolutely no class or self control to air his nephew’s shortcomings publicly. It is truly shameful and speak loudly of his character as a man and father. In John 8:7 Jesus said “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her”…..Mr. Eisenhower Douglas should not be casting any stones at his nephew considering he has some skeletons in his own closet that would paint a different picture to others.

Education is great folks but seriously…who cars whether you are a PhD or not…you are who you are whether you are educated or…

Sean said there is a criminal system of government has taken shape under Skerrit where the government has been dealing in dubious transactions of state own properties, if this really happened he was part of this corruption and social economic disease which is rampant in our country, men and women who went into politics with honest intentions see all this plundering of the public purse, because there is nothing in the law to say they should not do so, unless they are exceptionally strong willed, they are swiftly drawn into the swamp of greed, why didn’t Sean intervene while he was employed by Skerrit, this was a cowardly act, he must have realised the consequences but his sense of entitlement and political greed was his motivation for turning a blind eye for the wrongdoing of the Skerrit government, I personally would tend to believe his story had he done the honourable thing and resign rather to wait and be pushed, now he is gone public after 12 agonising months as he said. What our people must understand politics is a dirty business, but at the same time it’s very sweet and lucrative.

Michael Douglas had a saying” coming events cast a shadow before them..” Is this the shadow or event…..?It is said that with every tragedy , opportunity presents itself ….. Micheal Douglas dies , prematurely I might add ,and his brother Rosie embraces the moment and propels himself to the leadership of the country …..keep in Ming the issues already existed within the Douglas family…… We got on board and road the wave all the way to ministry……
Fast forward and Rosie is dead , the family again is handed an opportunity through tragedy and we introduce Ian……An attorney , father and husband, who also happens to be the nephew of the late prime Minister..”remember Rosie ,vote Ian ” … One good Douglas deserves another ” and so on……It gets better , another tragic and untimely loss in the death of Pierre Charles… Ian and by extention the Douglas family gets another go @ putting a strangle hold on Dominican politics for the foreseeable future…conventional wisdom would suggest that Ian with all this political capital ,and sympathy ,( both family tragedy and a special needs daughter) would have made an attempt at the leadership of the party ,thereby reestablishing his family influence and power……He doesn’t….. He becomes a “marginalized Douglas” who is better known for his femaLe pursuits and alcoholic exploits….(.BTW it takes much effort to suck so bad @ the family business… How this guy isn’t prime minister ? I have no idea)……

So we come to the current state of affairs and the only conclusion is that Mike was right…… Coming events do cast a shadow before them…..let me say this ,I’m rooting for the family. Every body like a good comeback story( ala Michael Vick, )…..Leadership is needed. Like the kind if leadership Rosie showed the country……..Sean , don’t make this about Skerrit …. Make this about the inability to lead , whether it’s your family business or the Labour Party……dig deep, holster egos , recommit and show us what ur family is made off……………I see u Spa…… Tell Kim to be grateful and not a brat……don’t forget where u came from and who raised u

Stop blaming everyone else….. U guys were given much more than everybody in your town and more than most in your country and u know what they say about” to whom much is given”……the legacy u guys were left with by RBD is liken to the Kennedys ,(in more ways than one)yet you have managed to obliterate any political or social capital … If we had a Leno or letterman type show in Dominica , your family would make for good laughter….. I meant to state Athelene Douglas (Mrs. Murdoch)does not fit into any type of insults in relation to your comments. She is my adopted mother and I love her to bits and I can assure you she has access to enable her to view such comments that is being stated.

Eisenhower’s statement. You all post so much of your dirty laundry on DNO, now that someone else is going down that same path you all are trying to make it a capital offense. It is such a crying shame when you so-call educated people sink to such low levels when trying to get your point across.
Yet, when someone else tries to express his or her veiws there’s no word in the English dictionary to describe them.

You all think that anyone who supports Skeritt is committing treason. We are all Dominicans and are free to support whomever we choose to. So get off your high horses and pray for youselves and your country and stay out of family affairs. M.Y.O B. Better yet get a real life.

When Sean wrote that scathing piece on the DLP Administration, he included you and other family members by extension – deliberately or unintentionally – since you, his cousin Ian, and his Step-father are very loyal to and are deeply involved in the Administration.

By your response, you undoubtedly felt that you had a right and responsibility to defend yourself and your support of the Party and to right a wrong in the same forum that Sean used. You obviously saw his commentary as damaging to certain members of the Douglas clan and wanted to neuter him before he did any further damage.

But, being much older than Sean and the holder of a doctoral degree, you would have had many life experiences up to earning that degree that should have made you stop to think that this was not the best forum to make the type of comments that you made, unless the intention was to embarrass and denigrate Sean. Obtaining a progressively formal education through hard work, hardship and sacrifice is not easy and that experience should help one deal better with certain life situations – make one know and behave better in “certain” circumstances. I strongly believe too that the negatives coming from persons who are neither family nor friends are easier to bear than when they come from family and friends. Sometimes, it is better not to defend oneself because of the harm it causes to loved ones or innocent others.

With the natural business and leadership talent that your family is reputed to possess, added to the opportunities many are reported to have received for formal education, you would agree that no member should be singled out for insults when it comes to who is not doing what. Passing through the Hampstead area last month after a long time, I was amazed to see acres and acres of beautiful development land with no activity going on. When I inquired about it, I was told that the land belonged to the Douglases but no one was “working” it.

While the world reads on about this family squabble, know that many readers are not happy about what is happening even though they might not know you all personally.

You and the other family members within the Administration should encourage the PM to hold inquiries on some of the allegations Sean has raised. This would be very helpful.

dear Admin: please provide me with some square inches of space to put in my five(5) cent piece as a talk show host use to and maybe still says.
This is in realtion ship to Esquire’s provacative statement in rebuttal to Eisenhower’s article:Re Sean Douglas.
Eisenhower if you are frothing at the mouth after you read this and getting ready to off load on Esquire and I Let me stop you right here.(when you get to the end you may think twice.
let me introduce my premise: All D/cans are hyocrites and LOVE beouf.Poor ,rich nacotrafficant, bakers, vendores Doctores(the kingsof bouef- LAWYERS) P.M, opposition ministers ,priests, portworkers toutes mondes. Many if asked would deney how much they bouef and love it.Some love it more than saltfish(men) women love it more than you know what! They would deny it even if it is before their very eyes.Even if it’s like the geico ad onTV with the booloo l’argent wrapped around an eyeball.Spoke about his mom & dad, sisters brothers toutes mondes but never mentined the family secretes.
So many of us live with secretes/family secretes,I challenge the Douglases as wil talkshows, churches, workers by the water coolers, rumshops etc etc.Even the public libaries. Many of us live secret lives here on the commonwealth of DA.Some keep us awake at night or noodle their way into our lives. Some are making us sad some even embarrassing, some tragic But many are held captive.many characters in high places harbour secrets only a few are brave enough
to bring them to the light of day and find fredom and hope,
It may just transform your trials to triumphs.Who the cap fit let em wear it.
There was a statement coming from someone who said:” Rosie would want me to be P.M”

You Anonymous was the one who highlighted it was Medard RS who said so. So cut MM some slack. You sort of spoiled/ruined MM’s plan. You left nothing for thought. You choose to jump the gun. Ike! You hearing me? Why didn’t you seal that letter and deliver it to Sean-i-Boy? It would definitely come across as the concern of an uncle for a dear nephew. But now, after putting the family’s dirty laundry on the streets of Lagoon, how do you see the family’s image recovering from this melee? Ike! It would appear that Skerro comes before your family’s image. For you to take on Sean-i-Boy in public over his issues with Skerro, not you, is left to be seen by many commentators as you “singing for employment and gratuity”.
Why didnt one of you ask Sean-i-Boy to abandon Mac in Martinique and return to run Arbeedee? That would have been so simple! Why it’s now you want to hold him responsible for the void during Mac’s absence? There are many other “capable” members of the Douglas Clan who were on island during Mac’s absence. Did you ask any of them to fill the void? Pardner, wheel and come again.

Eisenhower Douglas has just proven himself “Judas” to the memories and works of Mike and Rosie Douglas. Rosie was a rebel at heart, a man with a vision for change, a man who would do what was necessary to get things right. When you are willing to throw your own blood to the wolves, you have sullied his reputation and should be ashamed to have partaken of the fruits of hate and division. If you would so much as dare to defend this article as a method of upending Sean, you need to have your head examined. Sean, Kim and Tiyani are true representatives of what Rosie and Mike stood for, you should ask yourself whether you were adopted. The fundamental principles on which our country has existed are no longer alive. Freedom of speech, the right to oppose what one does not like, the right to further yourself and your children without having to sell your soul or your beliefs, all these have been taken from us. Our neighbours report back to the hierarchy if we appear to be dissenting from the majority and now our flesh and blood are selling us out for “30 pieces of silver”. To each his own, nothing lasts forever and as London, Egypt, Iraq, Libya and many African nations have experienced, people will only take so much, give so many opportunities for change before taking matters into their own hands. Blessings

I have a question – it may be provocative.

As back ground; Eisenhower Douglas – the uncle of Sean Douglas put forward some context surrounding Sean Douglas’ earlier article. The other two Douglas’s articles did not help much but gave us a sense of division among the family and their dispute with Roosevelt Skerrit.

Now, I know that Roosevelt (Rosie) Douglas is Tiyani Behanzin father – thus he is a Douglas. I am based in the states, and, I took part in a discussion with some fellow Dominicans while I was visiting NY. The question of Sean Douglas and Tiyani Behanzin dismissals came up. A very prominent “Rosieit” who did not make the transition from Communism to Democracy as Eisenhower Douglas describes made a striking statement.

“He fired his cousin Sean then his brother Tiyani because the Douglas’ are fighting over the direction of the family empire”

Question: Is Roosevelt Skerrit a Douglas?

Feedback is saying that he is Roosevelt Douglas’ son. How true can this be?

i am no fan of sean … but if you refer to when he was press secretary …. that is what press secretaries do – they sing the praises of their government …. see how the white house press secretary operates

if you ask me the douglas clan needs to realise that in this new dispensation, labour has no need for them or to put it bluntly skerrit has no use for them

That reminded me of the days when RBD would publically declare that he did not trust Rosie !!!!! Anyway Sean must realize that his Tenbeer uncle had been “Water Boarded” by the current mafia system in Dominica and so his uncle was really speaking under involuntarily and under adverse conditions. Think about it Peeps- isn’t that the same “ Hogwash “ we here on the Penguine and womyal show on Kairi . ( DNO I did not call any names- I know you guys have been threatened by the little dishonest lawyer (Liar)man ).

      Francis Chicago,

I have read your statement or comment, You are entittled to your views and opinions. however, I will not agree with your statement stating in reference besides Mike and Rosie. The two brothers are not the begining and the ending of the family.

I can assure you that the immediate family of Mr.Robert and Bernadette Douglas are very, very large.

I can also tell you this I have grown up with the Douglas Family. Athlene (Mrs.Murdoch) she is my adopted mother whom I love dearly and please donot insult them all nas she does fit into your catergory of insults. I am really and truly offended by your comment.

In response to me please be kind. Thank you

Garcon, for a response to a political article, this one is pretty personal wee pal.

Talk about airing the family’s dirty laundry in the public.

You have every right to have the opinion that ‘he crying over spilt milk’, but many parts of your article is unbecoming. No one can deny you the right to defend the Prime Minister, but this article from you is blind potoism and that makes you very scary, sir.

I have heard many a Douglas’ who does not agree with the way the current Labour Party is running criticize and otracise the party and its leadership, but I have never heard any of them come down on Ian Douglas that personal for still staying in the party. Shame on you, man. And you are a guy with PHD’s? Where is your refute to the allegations made by Sean Douglas, irrespective of his motives?

What kind of man are you sir? Boy is stuff like that that makes me so glad that I do not support any political party or particular personality in Dominica.

Well I guess Mr. Eisenhower Douglas wants Sean Sean to manage the business so as to increase his worth!! So selfish! By the way, where is Sean’s mother? Where is his step-father? My brother could blast my child on DNO? It would be war!!

Mr. Eisenhower, go work for your retirement. You want Sean to work for your benefit? You want him to make the company great to increase its worth and so increase the value of your shares? Well, sorry to disappoint you. Sean has a new agenda now; get married, have children and build a house!! Lol!

  46. LA VAYWITAY
    August 24, 2011

This article is really in poor taste. This is very personal family matters and is too much information for the general public. Mr. Eisenhower Douglas, I would suggest that in the future, when you are disappointed with the progress your family members have made in life, you address them personally. DNO is not the forum for family quarrels. Mr. Sean Douglas expressed his political views. You in turn showed your class by attacking him personally. We need not know whether at his age he is married, have children or have a house. As a matter of fact, if the Douglas family were that close, you would have offered him advice and help instead of airing out his dirty laundry.

With this said, I will again express my utter disappointment that you people use this forum to discuss your personal lives. We do not care who runs Arbeedee Ltd. Go home and fix your problems. We have enough problems in the country to fix!!!

” A HOUSE DIVIDED AGAINST ITSELF CANNOT STAND.” All these Douglas’ family squabbles on a public platform lives little to desire. Deference should be exercised when Ideological differences exist. The contributions that Mike and Rosie made to the political/social/economic arena is well noted and respected by many. However, many of what I have been reading lately from the Douglas’ borders on political trite. These fellas are riding the coat tails of Rosie and Mike instead of building a legacy of their own. They are diluting their family legacy by their infantile public displays and ramblings. I hope Tiyani stays away from these mudslinging. You guys are beginning to look like a bunch of jokers instead of people inheriting a legacy.

So you are saying basically that Sean being a 43 year old man has to take what he gets, tuck his tail between his legs and let even his family members control his actions and emotions? When Eisenhower was grovelling for a bigger post and griping don’t you think he expressed himself?? Not because he decided to do it like a little child behind closed doors does it make him a better man than Sean. Finally Sean has set himself apart from the “brown-nosers” and even his own family wants him to swallow his vomit but if I know Sean well enough (and I do) he will do no such thing so let the other Douglas’s who have been bought step forward.

Finally, stand corrected Sir…Roosevelt Skerrit DID NOT “promptly took on that responsibility,” he HIJACKED MY Labor Party with his new brand of All Shall Eat, just ask the Hon. Osborne Riviere how that covert operation went down!

Thank u sir for shedding some more light on this Sean matter. It has always been my opinion and that of many others that Sean was somewhat hypocritical in his accusations against the Skerrit led government and obviously not being honest about the termination of his employment with the government. Now having an immediate family member brings a much clearer understanding of the circumstances surrounding Sean’s bitterness.

Well Sean, Hampstead Estate and Arbeedee Ltd. these are the enterprises left to u by your elders and by virtue of your last name u probably own a piece if these Douglas entities. Can you believe that this is the man who wanted to represent Portsmouth after the death of Rosie. Note that he doesn’t even know Portsmouth people much less to say hello or walk around town whenever he comes to Portsmouth which happens to be once every 3 years to collect on the family business- whatever is left off it. By the way Sean is not the only one leaving on RBD foundation there are many other Douglases from the RBD clan who have never built a card board box for themselves- Rosie was just one of them, common knowledge can reveal the rest of them.
This is not about the Douglases but only about Eisenhower who is trying to gain the trust of the rogue regime of Skerrit , Tony ,Alick and the animal farm. It is about a man given the ultimatum – show me your true colors. Sean must now come out with all guns blazing as it is obvious that Eisenhower is not really acting on his own accord. It is only logical that if there is one Douglas who could feel obligated to chastise Sean should be Ian.With regards to the personal family affairs –this is very unassuming of Eisenhower- his actions and tells me that he is no better than the Laawtaaw on the street in Lagoon Roseau or a paro on the bayside in down town Portsmouth.

You will be called so many names and be accused of so many wrong doings that Satan himself will stand a better chance at the pearly gates than you…in their eyes.

    Good read…albeit an honest piece!

There are many people whose family had business interests and the Patriarch passed away and left behind something to improve upon.

Brisbane and DePooter come to mind. The sons/family then take up the mantle and try their hardest to improve and increase the business. Although some of these people posses more Capital or access to it than others in Dominica, the Douglas name certainly is on par with those who have access to this Capital.

The Douglas family holds hundreds of acres of land in Dominica and can easily seek the necessary Capital to undertake a sensible venture.

In most Democracies, land usually appreciates.

Land, especially now is very valuable and also a scarce commodity. Those who have it can use it as a vehicle to increase their wealth while providing a service to their community.

      Charles mingus,
      If Mr. Eisenhower Douglas
wanted to be honest he would have mention the reason why the said family lost the apartments at picard and who use family assets as collateral to go study and never return and pay a cent.
Also , he could shed some light on the reason why most of the lands remain unproductive , unsold and which member of the family is fighting for control and as result preventing the development of these lands.
Moreover , if he wanted to give Sean some encouragement, i see no reason why he have to come public. A phone call would have been more appropriate.
I have to wonder whats the essence of this article . The masses don’t care whether sean did not resign his contract or he was sacked ,whats importmant to us is that someone who held such office is alledging that the government is corrupt.

Please Mr.Eisenhower Douglas, deal with the important issue or shut the hell up. Don’t take your family business on DNO .
As a man with many Degrees and Masters – to include that Mphil in Economics that u were persuing while i was at the same university as you , i am very suprise that i haven’t heard your views on so many pertinent issues regarding the devlopment of dominica ,that has been discuss here on DNO.

Mr. Douglas i look forward on you using your expertise in the most ethical and impartial manner, while engaging and encouraging public discussion on the prevailing issues affecting the development of Dominica.
You can start by coming on DNO More frequent as i am ready and willing to learn from you.

What exactly are you trying to say? Speak man! Speak Damn it! You’re talking jibberish about other families that have built on the assets left behind when in fact, the purpose of this foolishness was to cast Sean in a horrible light! The writer wasn’t looking to give Sean words of encouragement on how to take up the mantle, but rather he trying to humiliate him by running to the defense of someone else – a none family member at that. Call it as you may, but there are many words for people like this. I’m afraid if I were to use them, then my response would be sensored and not posted! This piece is a disgrace!

As I read through this article and could not find any thing of significance in what Eisenhower Douglas is saying. In fact what I gather is just what many of us know- the Douglases have been fighting among themselves for a very long time. Those of us old enough will remember that Rosie and Mike just did not get along so much so that there wasa Mike Labor Party and Rosie Labor party. ( Mike in Portsmouth Rosie in Bense)
It is rather sad that Sean’s uncle would come out and dis his nephew and at the end of it claim that he will support Sean should he decide to adopt the family business. While Eisenhower is blasting Sean for not being married and off kids at 43- let us see- there are brothers and sisters of Eisenhower who are not married and have no children just the same. Note Rosie was not married and since Mack’s name was mentioned he to is not married and has no children. In my opinion Eisenhower is being kinder gardenlike in his level of reasoning. I thought better of Eisenhower – I’m still in shock.
It is also quite obvious that as Eisenhower journey unto the on going family betrayal path he conveniently avoided the legacy of the off spring Ian Douglas – need I say more. He also did not care to mention or even touch on the victimization of another Douglas – Rosie’s son Tiyanni. While Eisenhower is throwing family members under the bus he need to ask himself the obvious question. If there is and was a fortune to be made in the family business why it is that he spent all those years (from Eugenia to Edison to Skerrit) kissing up and keeping his nose brown by kissing up to the PIP.
I am not a Douglas nor a fan of any but I’m appalled by what was said about Sean by his uncle Eisenhower . In my opinion that is family betrayal and piggish. In spite of what the circumstances are some things should be discussed in the family domain and only a crab would destroy it’s family to get the approval or recognition of outsiders which happens to be cabals of Tony and Skerrit.

this is a very petty article.

Its more of a personal attack on Sean’s history and personality which is characteristic of the dirty politics we play in this country. So what if he is unmarried without children, or doesnt want to take over the family business? The main issue is whether Skerrit is corrupt or not!!!

This is a lame attempt at a distraction of the issues, and Eisenhower Douglas should be ashamed of himself. Pathetic

Sounds more like a family squabble than a political response. Mr Douglas seems not to refute the statements echoed by his nephew -Sean.

I simply don’t understand the point of this piece. This seems to be something that should have been addressed in a personal email/letter rather than to be portrayed as a response to Sean Douglas’ article.

  83. August 24, 2011

Honestly I believe that Eisenhower Douglas is loosing his marbles. In this article he is yet to bring any credible contradictions or dispute to what sean has written but rather he resorts to a very personal attack on sean. He should not seek to blame sean for the dismal business that has become of the so-called restaurant which is squarely the result of Macs incompetence. What about the housing project of Mike in the heights of Picard to?. As a so called professional Eisenhower should retort seans statement with facts and not this personal spew about the mans personal life and failed family business. Eisenhower is also in this article unable to refer to the state of governance as highlighted by sean but instead focuses on Mike and Rosie. Try to defend the un-defendable Eisenhower if you can…The shabmles our governance has come to instead of unwarranted personal attack on a family member. Shame on you. How can any young person look to you a senior citizen for guidance. You are the one who will make Rosie and Mike not turn but want to rise from their graves and pull your brains and tongue out of your head

Eisenhower Douglas its very sad that you have chosen publicly defend the prime minister and the labour party amidts the article posted online by sean.u have even gone beyond the call and indicated that sean has not yet produced any fruit at the age of 43 years, and crossed the line of becoming personnle.u are the uncle of sean, an it in bad taste for u to adopt such an un principlaed position to defend roosvelt skerrit and the labour party.u were acting as a ps, u no longer sit in that position, u were acting director of trade, u were releved and freash boold replced u. Eisenhower u have eucated yourself and hold a P.H.D., however u fit at the master table begging for bread and have become another member of the choir singing for your dinner. u made reference of sean taking up the mantle of his family business, however u have not gain that level of independence and depend on the labour party, and roosevelt skerrit to provide employemnt for u.having to the the public defender in oder to obtain a employemnt oppertunity, notwithstanding u are being kick around like a football all over the public service. what a shame on u, its time to grow balls and be your own man and adopt a principlaed position rather that potraing yourself as another one sininging for your dinner.what a disgrace u are.

Very bias and unprofessional piece by Eisenhower Douglas. This only shows how political these people are and will go down the gutter (even bringing their family down) for WHAT!!! This approach clearly stinks.

      You ask for WHAT?
Didn’t you see the statement made….”As RBD (Sean’s Grandfather) would often say, “a man who does not know on which side his bread is buttered is not fit to live”.
      Does that answer your question?
Lol i wouldn’t do that to my enemy much less a family member…Mr.Eisenhower douglas is HEARTLESS!!!!!
