That photo is living testimony of the inefficiency of our Traffic Police,Had the Traffic Dept been patroling the roads of Dominica with their various SUV’s which they ride aimlessly doing their personal chores this would have been avoided. Firstly, the vehicle is in the middle of the road secondly the law requires that a RED FLAG be conspicuosly be placed on all load projecting from the vehicle, not an old discarded onion bag ,thirdly all commercial vehicles have a TARE and GROSS weight requrement, had the Traffic Police been patroling the high ways looking for speeders and other people who abuse their use of the roads this would have been avoided

This photo is really funny. Yes! Only in Dominica you say! How could this truck be driven easily and safely? Note that this load is too heavy for the truck. Some people will persevere no matter what as long as they can transport their load to its destination. Surely, other means could have been used, a bigger van/truck for transporting those pieces of wood. If caught, the police will definitely issue a ticket for dangerous driving and transportation of objects which could cause an accident and injury.

  20. Picture Evidence
    April 27, 2011

Now let’s see if the traffic police going to do anything about this. This is electronic evidence that shows dangerous driving and the police know that they can use this picture in court to prove it too. The law was passed last year in May/June so no difficulty prosecuting this man for endangering others on the road with this non-sense.

Instead they walking around Roseau giving arbitrary tickets. Let’s see what happens.

    • sorad
      April 27, 2011

Why the big debate as to whether or not it is a van or a truck? We call it a pick-up (having taken out the truck part at the end), this is Caribbean english 101. What you are referring to as a van is called an SUV (mid-size i believe), short for sport utility vehicle. In today’s world it is safer to just call them all cars since the lines between cross-overs, small trucks, suvs, station wagons etc are distorted one can hardly tell what is what these days. Tiny when we say van we know what we mean. When we go to the states and them we know good well which to call a van and which one is a truck.
Just be like the rest of us and laugh your A off at the photo please!
