    Charlo My Dear,

You are somethng else and will always be. Is that what you called me to tell me that you were doing on Monday (Labor Day In New York) I tell you you are something else.

Go on Charlo keep it up!. I donot know how the Labor Day goes with the Dominica Bands, but here in the London (30th August) was carnival day here, we had a band representing Dominica by the name of “Mas Dominic” it had quite a few following with our friends and family from home and Portsmouth in costumes.

I am happy to view the photograph of yourself that you have sent me today , and also to read on Dominica News On Line you were the only one representing Dominica. If so is the case why dont you start up a Mas Camp to represent Home in New York :-) I am pleased for you. As usual you know all your endeavours I am very happy for you.

    CORRECTION TO MY PREVIOUS POSTING!!!

This photograph was taken in NEW YORK, on the Parkway in Brooklyn and it is already being presented for viewing. I thought the criteria states (Novice, Amateur and professional) IN DOMINICA.

The criteria also states that the photographer must be IN DOMINICA. This individual lives in New York!

    The criteria must state:

Anything Dominican (whether you reside in Dominica or abroad)

BE FLEXIBLE! THINK STRATEGICALLY AND MORE DOMINICAN WILL PARTICIPATE!

    ADMIN
We have about 200 yet-to-be-used Photo of the Day and others coming in daily, so your statement “and more Dominicans will participate” holds no juice. Not sure if we have to get so technical because no one has any problem. We Caribbean people like to make a big deal out of nothing. If you’re a Dominican and you take a picture of Dominica just send the darn thing. Do you think we have time to figure out where the photographer is from? Do you think we research photographer’s background to see if they are located in Dominica? Oh my God. Any way peeps, keep sending your photos, I am 100% certain know one was paying attention to “in Dominica” because for sure Mr. Shillingford would not have submitted anything – that’s because he is sensible.

WOW..to my suprise i received a call at work today from a Dominican friend, telling me i was featured in the dominica online news in my laborday costume.I am the original Charles Andrew from THE ZICACK area in possi.THOUGH i unfortunately spend 31 yrs, most of my life away from home..first 22yrs in ANTIGUA then remainder in NEW YORK.TO be honest am a DOMINICAN TO THE BONE..I LOVE EVERYTHING DOMINICA and i am proud of my country.Reference to that photo,i was in a nas troup from trinidad name SOUTH CENTRAL BOYZ..WE WERE DEPICTING (STORMS) AND I WAS REPRESENTING( FIRE STORM).I always feel left out and bad when i see all other countries are well represented and Dominicans,so many in NEW YORK cannot even orgainze a troup or even a teeshirt band.THE ONLYTHING MISSING FROM THAT BAND WAS MY DOMINICAN MUSIC..THE TRINI MUSIC WAS BORING..I HOPE I WILL BE ABLE TO JAM DOMINICAN STYLE AS WE DID IN 2008..AM THE GUY WHO PERFORMED AND DANCE WITH THOSE GIRLS ALONG WITH DADDY CHEST IN PRESENTING OUR COUSTUME FOR LABORDAY 2008..BIG UP TO MY PEOPLE AND LETS CELEBRATE IN GRAND STYLE 2011..

Beautiful picture of a Dominican showing his patriotism on the Parkway…Iovely!! I seem to have a issue with Dominica bands never being represented on the parkway(with the exception of last yr)..Every country have a band on the parkway even if it’s a t-shirt band nevertheless they’re on the parkway representing hard..I’m tired of seeing the disappointment on my fellow Dominican faces waiting for a D’can band to come up eastern pkwy SOME of them (D’cans) seem a shame to even hold the D’can colors/flag even perpetrating other Caribbean nationalities flags…SHAMEFUL!!!!…I love my Dominican people and country but we need to be more organize not just only for labor day but for other Dominican events especially if we looking to promote Dominica to the world..real talk…

Thanks to that brother for being the only person to take matters in his own hands and show our Dominican colours. But the bigger shame is there it is accordingly over 3 millions people from all over the world come to witness the parade on Easternparkway not to mention the television coverage and other media houses that cover the Labour Day PARADE. We are soon to celebrate out W.C.M.F next month and excuse me for i only reached as far as NOSTRAND AVE so if i mistate the fact i apoligise, but i did not see any thing or heard any thing as far it relates to our up coming celebratios next month what happened to at least having a band on the Parkway to advertise our festival to the whole world? TI–VICE, CARIMI–and the other HATIAN bands were the biggest band on the Parkway the least we could do is have a banner displayed on their trucks announcing to the World of our up comining festival. Unless some body can correct me to the contary. I say that was a big let down. I cannot do it alone i heard wadicks promoting at the various SwingStars dances and much respect to that brother and those who do the same thing. I have convinced at least 50 none Dominicans who plans to visit our shores and enjoy our country and by extention pattake in our festival but i cannot do it alone it`s not all talk but it`s talk with action and a lot of Dominicans have to follow suite.

Two years in a row and No DA band on the parkway, why? So many Dominicans were there with their flags ready to represent n support ours. People bought their Triple – K T- shirts and no band.

This is where the Festival Commission should invest their $$$$ instead of the press conference. I believe that they should ensure that there is always a band on the parkway, hence, more people to get their message across, more visitors for Creole Festival.

Haiti had three bands and Carimi was the best out this year. The Haitians always represent with 3 or more bands. Dominicans were so disappointed and although we had our flag high, but gloom was on our faces.

We were out in great numbers but divided in every other band except ours. please Make next Year better DFC.

I saw him yesterday and even took a pic. However he was part of a band. he wasnt a lone masquerader as stated above. he was the only one with a dominican flag in dat band however.

True patriotism!!!!! I am immersely proud of my Dominican brother!!!!

However, I agree with ‘NO NAME’. I submitted my photo about three weeks ago and it is yet to be presented for viewing.

Whereas, this was taken on the 6th of September on the Parkway, in New York and it is already presented for viewing.

    Rules are rules!

Probably the publisher needs to be more flexible and say, that anything Dominican (whether at home or abroad) will be presented for viewing.

THIS PHOTO WAS NOT TAKEN IN DOMINICA AND IT IS HERE FOR VIEWING.

Please change your criteria for submission!!!

    ADMIN
We’ve been getting a bunch of photos showing sunset and sunrise. After a while it has become boring. Photo of the Day is not limited to greenery, but animals, people, places and things. So we have begun to choose randomly. Yesterday we had a building, today we have a Dominican, showcasing Dominican culture. The criteria states “Dominica and things Dominican”…. So wheel and come again!
