This photo is just beautiful. As always, beyond words. Those steps leading to the water reminds me of the steps in the Botanical Gardens. I think it is 39 steps (correct me if I erred) except they do not lead to the water.
The thought just crossed my mind, they do lead to the water upwards to The Cross – The Spring, The Water of Life which Christians will comprehend.
I have passed Penrice but have not visited the area. Would love to do so on my next visit. It is something that I must keep in mind.
Great picture! Dominica has some beautiful sceneries.

So you live abroad, I take it to be US/UK or Canada.

Please tell me where in any of the above countries can you visit tourist sites for free (in the UK you have to pay even if you were born there/live there.

I’m a returnee and I paid for the first 3 months, now I can enter for free. I didn’t mind paying because I saw it as helping to pay for maintenance and staff wages, and knew that such natural wonders could not be found in the UK.

I am shocked that people have to pay to go to the Sulphur Springs and that Dominican visitors must also pay to enter there. I suppose all this is part and parcel of tourism, paying for visiting sites of interest. Call this progress and a way of supporting the revenue of the country. I do hope that the money is given to the government and is utilized for a good cause.
I guess, I, too, have been away too long and when I return for a visit., although I have visited several times, I may have to pay to visit the sulphur springs. I have bathed in those areas free of charge. Surely the security guard should know a Dominican from a non-Dominican. If Dominican natives are not charged, Dominican visitors whether they reside abroad and visit Dominica are natives too. Nothing can erase their status.
A Dominican does not have to speak patois to convince him. Is there a department that you could have reported this security guard who appears to possess no basic common sense and to know a Dominican from a non-Dominican? Something should be done about that.
Informing you that you have been away too long is discriminating and against his very own Dominican. He should have been reported.
If one set of people do not have to pay then all others should not have to pay. In other words as the saying, “What is good for the goose is good for the gander.” I take those matters seriously.

Dominican Residents are the only ones exempt from paying site fees. Visitors, Dominican Native or Not, are not exempt if they are not current residents….if Natives who don’t reside here start complaining about US$5 the next step maybe to impose a fee on those of us who do live here because there is a cost of maintenance. In other countries everyone pays for attractions and in Dominica we only pay for a few and there are still complaints be real. We want tourism development but that comes at a price.

    Admin,
You can tell me what you want about amateur photographer and all that, but I WILL thank you for raising the quality of the Pic of the Day.

Thank you for sparing us another photo of a pot of food, a roasting breadfruit.

ADMIN: We still awaiting a photo from you.

      @ Piper again

I am being nice to you. You have a problem.
You critic, what is wrong with a photo of a pot of food. All of us eat food and there are many delicious ones as other recipes. The Lord gave them to us.
DNO bring on those wonderful dishes. They are palatable. They are as beautiful as sceneries.
Have you ever viewed those recipes programs? I love to view them and also take notes of recipe tips and download recipes.
I am not a big eater, yet I love those programs and read the recipes, some healthy ones which I also clip out from the newspaper. I do try a few of them from time to time. You should do likewise. All these make for an interesting life. Variety is the spice of life.
