The women were decently clad. It is a decent sight to behold. I would think that this could be dating back to the 1940’s.

Very beautiful black and white picture; I suspect the photograph was taken in the late 1800/ early 1900’s.

The reason I suggest that time; is due to an reflection from the way the lady’s are dressed. In those daqys, there was a French influence in Dominica, that style of dressing from the 1800’s lasted into the late 1940’s in Dominica, and even in the 1950’s, women from Calibish, Woodford Hill, and in my Kingdom of Wesley dressing in those long and very colorful dresses.

Secondly, if one notice the police standing at attention, he is wearing a uniform that predates the 1950’s in Dominica.

The style of that uniform came from the French police know as the “Jhandam.” I am sure the word in the quote is not spelt correctly.

Bad enough, the manner some are dressed when going to church, sleeveless, dresses and blouses with straps and short and tight skirts etc. It is a disgrace and a scandal.
Some people of today do not know how to dress. We could also blame it on fashion designers and manufacturers.

DNO the most recent pix have been “submitted anonymously”., However, the source is antanlontan antillaise (Dominica section). I think due credit should be given

ADMIN: We will contact the source and if the photo was taken from there we will give credit…we have no problem with that.

Look it, I seeing ruins and the purple dragon in that picture. Anyway, this just shows that even in the past women had more class than today. Look at how elegantly they use to dress before. Like they were actually worth something. Now is short pants, short pants, short pants, tights, tights, tights.

Think and contemplate on this! Do you think the world is better today and people are happier? Since you made such a statement, it led me to make the following statements and as thoughts crossed my mind.
It was the norm in those days. They were comfortable wearing them and did not complain then.
Women did not expose their bodies to the public in those days as is done today. It was also acceptable for the men who expected it.
Women in those days, by far, the majority of them were also virgins.
There were arranged marriages with suitable partners. They were also chaperoned; were not allowed to go out with men alone. No matter what, marriages lasted “In sickness and in health. Til death do us part”. They recognized God and prayed. They attended Church.
They did not divorce or there were few divorces. If any, they created scandals.
They were married in a Church and not in City Halls, in a backyard, the air, on a yacht, on a golf course and in such places.
Children were children and enjoyed their childhood days as children. They did not have babies and not even as teenagers. If any, they were few and far in between. They could have been raped but they did not deliberately go out and be conceived and say that they want a baby or babies. They did not cohabite with the opposite sex. They got married prior to living together. Again, if ever, they were few. These also created scandals.
Note what is occurring today. Each year it gets worst. There is open homosexual and lesbian relationships and so-called same sex marriage.
Note the Jerry Springer, Maury, Dr. Phil Shows and others. What scandal, to mention a few. There is hardly anything good on TV; hardly ever a decent movie and a religious one at that, not even anymore at Christmas and Easter. Those movies are “viewers’ discretion advised.”
There were hardly ever a murder and the types of other crimes then and the list goes on…
As it is said, “People have lost their sense of sin” and “immorality is rampant.” It is a real mess. Will those selfish, miserable and unhappy people and those who lack love and peace ever obtain eternal salvation?
How the Most Sacred Heart of Our Lord Jesus Christ hurts to see the way the majority of people live. As patient as God is, He must be disappointed and angry with mortals.
We reside in a practically godless, sinful and scandalous era which are increasing.
I think in this case we better return to those good old days as it were “back in those days”. If only we could. Please help us Lord!

To be taken seriously. Times today have changed for the worst. As the years progress, it is not getting better. We are going downhill. Some of us, but for the grace of God, He will assist and protect while on earth and from the evil, eternal dilemma and fate.
