I’m now not sure where you are getting your information, but great topic.
I must spend some time studying more or figuring out more.
Thanks for excellent info I was on the lookout for this information for my mission.
Water as light is useful but they could be dangerous. The scenery is beautiful. The view of the river is also beautiful but uninviting and ferocious. It is really swollen. It looks like it will capture everything in its way and it does. It is saying, “Get away from me; stay away otherwise bear the consequences.”
They are a treasure. I doubt that I will ever see such a scenery of the snow.
I was determined. I do not mind walking in the snow even when it is falling as long as it is not windy.
That bed of water reminds me about a terrible snow storm Toronto had a few years ago. It occurred from Saturday evening to Sunday. In the afternoon, after the storm, I took my camera and went outside to take pictures. I love taking pictures. The pictures are beautiful and unique. There are also imprints of the shoes of people in them and obviously mine. I have the pictures in an album. To this day I tell some people that I should have sold copies to the Toronto Media.
To further inform you, it was after New Years. I had attended a party out of the city. Early morning the snow storm got worst. Few vehicles were on the road. I managed to go to Church that Sunday morning. I jumped/climbed over mounds of snow to go to Church. I made it. I found it exciting or was it the Holy Spirit within me, guiding me and was pleased that I made the effort on a morning like that to go to Church.
You will be surprised to know that there were approximately twelve of us, if not less, in Church. At the end of Holy Mass, the Priest thanked us for coming. God’s blessings and graces abound.
A lady told me that she took a bus, that it broke down and she walked the rest of the way to Church. Few buses were operating. On a day like that one has to be truly faithful to go to Church. I wondered how many people went to the other Sunday Masses. I forgot to ask Father. Memories and more memories.
Thank God for the rain, river and everything Amen.
when i read some of the comments,it make me sick, all over the world have old houses, let us all pray for our dominica and the peolpe down there and god is watching over us.
our Dominica is blessed
here we go again!
WOW and the storm havent arrived yet. what happens when the storm is much closer, let say on wednesday. “That dream?”
I love the sight, Very Unique. God bless Dominica.
Water ,Water, every where some countries need that water even as dirty as look. Dominicans remember we never miss the water till the wells runs dry. Imagine! If rain keeps falling and the river has no water??? Think of those things. the world is coming to its end. Repent Dominicans, stop the hate, Stop the violence,Politics should not be 365/366 days be productive and play your part no matter how small it may be, Love is the answer. Do not kick a man while he is on the floor.
Where would they need that type of water, in India and other third world countries. I do not think they would use that water. Their governments would advise them against it.
All those demanding positive comments etc. Cant you see the wooden shacks are about to wash down in the river!. Use your common sense!
@ Ringo
Why the insinuation about the shacks? Do you think other countries do not have them and that people do not live in poverty even in a big country? You need to travel to broaden your mind, i.e., if you have the capability of learning.
Pray for those people. Have you heard of landslides, cyclones, tornadoes and the likes in other parts of the world that destroyed and washed away homes even big, beautiful ones? Such bad weather does not discriminate. It spares no one, the rich and the poor, the haves and have nots. Pertaining to such weather, what is there to happen will always happen. By luck some people and their homes are spared.
some dominicans… sets of BS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
true dat.
look pon d SHANTY town dem have in the middle of Roseau, what a SHAME!
Those are not houses. Those are stalls by the market. By the time town shut down at 4 o’clock them tings there close.
Talking about the dilapidated and mismatched shacks housing the snackettes is not be negative but proactive. At Ross University the snackettes used to be similar, but Ross students complained and they were rebuilt up to 1st world standards and everyone is happy. So why can’t those in the capital city be brought up to similar standards?
The people who don’t complain and take things as they are are usually the most negative, since by their abject silence, apathy and complacency they are allowing things that can be remedied remain in a retrogress manner.
Having said this, the city council and other agencies have indeed made claims to having intentions of upgrading these said units when they construct a promenade, however that claim have been there for over 10 years, if they are not reminded or pressured it will remain on the back burner to the benefit of NO-ONE
blue blue toilet flush hipipip hooray

lol when the river take over the rats home like that, they going to put people out of their house.
Does the river bed to be dredged?
We should take heed from Layout.
hmmmm
At about 03:00am Monday 2oth August 2012 , I woke up from a dream I had . The dream started with myself and others at the Roseau market .The weather in the dream seemed fine but we heard rumbling like water coming in a rush from the mountains . We ran across the bridge which has the lions and headed to Texaco filing station . I heard screaming , and in the dream persons were exiting the market via the same bridge . The E.C.Loblack bridge was carried by the rushing water coming from heights of laudat , the same bridge with dragons was also split from the centre and the Westbridge also disappeared . In my dream I saw a huge landslide at the 3 rivers and at Odelice , the Rosalie river flooded and destroyed the Rosalie sea resort cottages , the Layou village flooded , a huge landslide came down at fondcole above the high way , many other slides were reported in the Delice link road and at Soufriere totally blocked , also huge/ massive slide at Dubique . I woke up from the dream terrified . The sound of heavy rainfall was heard from outside . My day was not spent without thoughts of this dream . I need an interpreter.
Usually, the dream which you have has almost “everything” to do with you (what surrounds you, what you do, what is to come for you… all about you). Dreams will also try to tell you a story by using current situations or situations that you could easily grasp. The concept of your dream, depending on your general perceptions and opinions of things as well as your position in society could tell alot more. In your case, i would simply put it as: Dominica needs to review it’s strategies as well as the agreements that they make with other countries. if we are not careful, the majority will suffer. We will loss what we know as “Dominica”. See we crossed from our market to a “gas station”. Loss in the economy is obvious and evident. i am not saying that this is eventual but the general idea of dreams like these means that many many changes are coming. your lifestyle may or is changing, basically speaking .
woyyyyyy
@interpreter needed.
First things first if u r a believer in Christ, u &st pray then ask God to reveal ur dream. Most of the times dreams r our lives displayed b4 us.
So ask God & wait. If u know any believer with that gift feel free to ask them!!!
Might not have helped u but this is what I do bcz God give me dreams & they do come tru or pray & prevent them!!!
man please!!!! get a life!!!! find something to do with your imagination rather than thinking of doom and gloom and placing it here for people to read.
this dream aint no joke people take seriouly.my dear messanger go down on your needs call the radio station /tv dominica need prayer….jesus please hold back this disaster.and if d/canz dont want to learn deal with them amen
You are concerned about the possible effects of the impending storm on the infrastructure in the areas you mentioned. That and a wild imagination fueled by scaremongering from ever-present religious doomsday predictions and current political controversy (two mentions of the ‘dragons/lions’ on the bridge suggest that) have lead your mind to piece together all this information into this horrible nightmare.
However you can rest easy as that level of destruction is highly improbable for the anticipated strength of the impending storm. I can’t assure you that there will be no damage, however I can assure you that whatever happens as long as life goes on we will get through it.
@interpreter needed
God is Spirit, who does not sleep, so is the spirit by which you maintain Life in Jesus Christ.
You sound as if y0u are person who is alive in the spirit, the reason you are able to remember the details of your dreams so well.
It tells me that your mind is in a good shape being able to respond to the message of the Spirit, while you sleep; for your flesh has no control in your sleep, your senses cannot deny the work of the Spirit in you.
I have a severe hearing disability, but I am still living a vibrant Life in the flesh by my Spirit which is alive, whole, and complete. When I dream my hearing is perfect, because my Spirit takes complete control of my mind–unlike when I am awake.
So it was with you, you were sleeping in the flesh, but your spirit went wandering outside–at those places in Dominica, but it was raining heavily, and all of those things you saw, in your dream, were what was taking place–as your spirit witnessed them–the dramatic effect is probably the mystery that will be unveiled in the future–it is important that you take heed of the messages that you receive in your dreams.
Do not expect that God will send someone to tell you what this dream means, otherwise there would be no mystery for you to ponder about–causing you to bring God into your mind; that is what God wants you to do right now. Start pondering about Him and His ways of Love–the Life that is yours, through Jesus Christ. You will have no regrets.
“You sound as if y0u are person who is alive in the spirit, the reason you are able to remember the details of your dreams so well.”
false – I am also able to remember my dreams vividly, even better now that I have started the practice of keeping a dream journal.
“When I dream my hearing is perfect, because my Spirit takes complete control of my mind–unlike when I am awake.”
Also false. Your physical organ is most likely dysfunctional but the part of your brain responsible for generating data correspondent to sound stimuli is still working. To put it simply you brain can still generate the illusion of sound, even if you have that disability. This explains how wet dreams can occur even with no physical sexual stimuli.
“So it was with you, you were sleeping in the flesh, but your spirit went wandering outside–at those places in Dominica,”
Are you actually suggesting out-of-body experience? Because according to your religious canon (and this is assuming that you are a bible believing christian) this is impossible. The spirit can only leave the body at death. Religious nonesense aside, the reason that these things can be seen in dreams is because they, or things similar to them have been perceived in real life. Your brain simply regurgitates and transforms the data based on different influences. Your brain has a habit of piecing together random pieces of information to form dreams, which is one of the reason why they are usually so wacky. This is actually one of the ways you can detect whether you are in a dream. You stop and question whether the chain of events that are happening connect in any way. Hard to do though you have to actually practice this awake before you can do it in your dream state.
Only you can interpret your dream. You know the feelings it gave you. It was a scarey dream. Are your dreams ever prophetic?
I will inform you that it is not a good dream or either the storm/hurricane is in your mind. I tend to believe that some dreams are not without reasons and do come true. I have had a few dreams which came true or there was some similiarity. Pray and keep praying that DA will be spared any flood, storm or hurricane.
PHOTO OF THE DAY: Roseau River on Tuesday morning………somehow all the comments are about the lil houses/bars/snackshops whatever on the side.why is it that y’all always look for the negatives and never the positives? y not a comment like “wow i remember when the roseau river used to flow heavily like that, only the water was cleaner” geez you people sicken me everyday with your negativity.
so why u think dno put that picture there. i dont think it was for compliment non.awa
That is the type of brains they have, always seeking out the negative. They analyze and parse everything. They look too closely. They also lack compassion for those who are less fortunate and who may lose their homes.
Jude,
I hope the Government think about the livelihood of those snack vendors when they alloting space in their new “Venezuelan Funded Promenade”.
Zor domnichen mem twoh soutiweh…
“little shacks that adorn the river” ????? oh please!
We are jus sitting on our butts and jus yapping our mouth let us com together to build the city if the goverment do it we have something to say if they don’t we have another thing to say how can we please ourselves some of you that is writing the comment are the one that don’t even have a job just to sit down and gossip on D N O so please for once give a positive comment. one more thing if you all don’t like to see the snack shack please donate one for each of those people and they will be happy to have it thnk you
i had a dream about the bridges at roseau being destroyed by rushing water coming from the mountains . I woke up at 3:00am yesterday Monday 20thAugust 2012.Miniya’s was flooded and the new dominica china bridge split from center . People this is not a joke . Watch it !!!!!
You have misinterpreted what the person wrote. The writer did not mean it as a joke but merely shared the dream with others and asked for interpretation.
Those so-called ‘shacks’ on the river banks are actually snackettes where you can buy anything from bakes, to accra, to fried bala-w, and all other local Dominican delicacies…..they might look out of place not “modern” but they do give Roseau a nice ‘touch.’
I guess all the foreigners think they must be up to American or British standards.
Leave them….that is where I go for my breakfasts in the mornings.
ok lets leave them because dorival says so………………i din not know that wanting to see a better buildings meant American standards..see how stupid you sound…..
What is wrong with the buildings idiot? They are not dirty, they are relatively colourful, they are well kept by the people who operate them. Only the one closest to the photographer have some galvanize stuck to it because of construction.
Go find work to do instead of commenting on everything and anything that is posted on DNO.
Oh well, is you that in them people country eh… And still have guts saying their skyscrapers that can easily withstand typhoons not ‘well built.’
Of a Truth Dat!
The town need the rain to clean up the nastiness which town council not seeing.
wow that is the development skerro boasting so, no wonder so many Dominicans go Red Clinic.
Wow!! Weren’t the shaks there before Skerrit was prime minister? Or wow what contributions have you made to DA?? Instead of beinLets see…what if Skerrit decides those sharks must go I would just love to see what your comment would be.@ Morihei.
Oh My God….Government (any Government) please enforce eminent domain and et rid of these broken down shacks and brighten the face of Roseau.
And as we are at it, do it all around Roseau please souplay
Roseau needs a make-over
These are not dwelling houses. They are snack shacks built for vending. However the are soon to be demolished to make way for the Venezuelan Funding Roseau River Prominade. Where modern vending facillities will be erected.
Project is expected to commence in September/October.
these are small business owners. will they be relocated and compensated when this endeavor begins? what will happen to their business… their families?!! I understand and welcome development in out country but something needs to done to facilitate the old when the new steps in. the poor gets poorer? i hope not. I hope that some of their family members have first priority to get a job to atleast work on this project while they re-establish themselves somewhere else
Congratulations jude Nicholas you siezed the opportunity to praise Venezuela for the vending booths they are about to sponsor. I sure hope that the project is not just a bunch of booths with no street widening and traffic improvement. To provide pedestrian and vehicular traffic improvement a new river retaining wall need to be constructed and 5 million dollars is definitely not going to cut it. The idea is great and i am behind the idea 100%. However i hope that some serious planing effort is put into the project. Let us not waste 5 million dollars on a project that if done right will cost 20 million dollars.
look out for more rats, the rain is going to cause them to look for new homes
you need to come down wi. Because for you to think is people’s houses dat there when is little snack shacks da there…. you really need to come down. I will pay your passage!
TO AA,
that would be so wonderful to pa my ticket, how about creole festival??????e eh lol
what are these on the side of the river….horrible sight….these shacks need to be bulldozed
Would you like for someone to bulldoze your home or place of work?
but wait, why are the house over the river.the green house look like it about to fall in .
Those are not houses. they are the little bars which adorn the river side. Across from Save Alot all the way up to the old bridge. They have been there for quite sometime and have seen many swells from this river. I have personally seen Roseau river touch the bottom of the First New bridge. Everyone was warned not to cross it, but if you did, you could feel it rocking. Thank God, we now have two extra bridges just incase any one of the old ones go down.
And what if the new ones are carried away?
Those shacks really need to be torn down… just wonder if the vendors there will be able to afford space in the Roseau River Promenade
