        @ mahgs

To be precise, do you see anyone fighting and in that picture? Why bring “stop fighting” into it? It does not apply here and is not necessary. There are some people who cannot stick to the issue of what is contained in an article and comment solely on it.

You never miss the water till the well runs dry. I miss all that greenery and lush vegetation. What a beautiful sight. When we are in Dominica we really do not appreciate all that we have until we move away.

What happen? You living illegally in the State and cannot return home? If you miss it so much, why don’t you move back to enjoy it? Allu always miss everything about DOminica, but allu behaving like allu stuck in foreign countries.

      • Truth, Justice, Love, Peace and Unity
        March 9, 2011

        @ Piper

Envious of them residing overseas? They are not stuck overseas. The majority of them are legal residents who also have an overseas passport because they work (have worked) and contributed their fair share of taxes and other to the country in which they reside in.
 Use your basic common sense. In time, when it is convenient for them to visit Dominica they will visit. As much as they wish they cannot be in two places at the same time.
The majority of them are not idle people. They have to work and have certain obligations to meet. They cannot just opt up and take a trip to Dominica as much as they would like to. This is no reason for criticizing them and making sarcastic comments. Be understanding.
Put on your thinking cap. There is a purpose for everything. Those who have relatives in Dominica who are especially in need of also mail funds to them. Dominica benefits from this – their hard-earned dollars from overseas.
Residing abroad does not make them less of a Dominican and also love Dominica less. They are daughters and sons of the soil of Dominica. Their heart will always be in their land of birth – Dominica. They reserve the right, as Dominicans abroad to miss Dominica.
Their love for Dominica is such that they also promote their country and will not allow anyone, no matter who to cry it down. This is a true Dominican – a genuine Dominican spirit of those who love their country whether they reside abroad. They possess true love for their country and yes also their fellow Dominicans whether they know them or not. They want what is good for their country and its nationals, specifically those who reside in Dominica.
They reside abroad for personal and various reasons but their hearts are still at home, also encouraging people like you to be less of a critic, if none at all and do something good for your country since you reside there. You are the beneficiary of your actions.
While abroad and employed, in many respects, their absenteism does not prohibit them from contriibuting to the welfare of their country. They are also standing up for human rights and other rights which benefit every human being in the world, no exception Dominica. Be thankful that they are abroad.
Thanks to DNO they can read the interesting articles of Dominica, are informed of what is occurring in Dominica and also view the beautiful pictures of Dominica. These keep their heart closer to home. I compliment DNO for its reporting.
I am one who has benefited from the news, keeping my heart at home – closer to home, taking an interest in the goings-on in Dominica and providing my comments. Everyone one of us, no matter what our status can learn from each other. I love Dominica and always will, no matter how long I have resided abroad! There is no place like home.
Just think. If the worst happens abroad that Dominicans have a place to return to and a people who will welcome them. This is a great consolation. Nothing beats that. This is what which also keeps us going while we reside abroad.
Therefore, the next time you criticize them for being abroad and still loving and missing their country, its beautiful sceneries and others, keep this in mind. You cannot take it away from them. Be broadminded.
Thank DNO for doing a great job of this, keeping our hearts and minds closer to home. My many words are insufficient to express my feelings.

    March 7, 2011

this is in responsee to the person who said that wow is a fool.

i realize taht this is another problem. you stated that the house owners build their homes long before the government ….. most of these homes are situated in areas that were once used for farming. so you see famers who have a lwhole lot of land just sellng land for individuals, agian no planning is Done no roads are constructed and it just turns out to be messy in the long run. i’m not even asking that the roads be immideately paved but just construct the roads so ithere won’t be a heart ache when there is further development.

it’s a beautiful pic from afar but go driving in the villages and yu’ll get frustated so quick.

    Dear harry,

I Just logged on to DNO…saw this breathtaking and inviting photo…I made the mistake of reading the comments (which I have been promising myself not to do anymore); and to no surprise, your comment reinforces why I only try to read the news and not look at the comments anymore…

I love and adore my island. However, I am beginning to think that we are some of most self-inflicting people in the world. We are continually injuring ourselves with these types of comments. It is not the land that needs fixing or moving forward. It is the people’s mind. A land can only be as good as the people residing on it.

NATURE ISLAND OF THE CARIBBEAN, HARRY. GET MY POINT?

    • listen to reason
      March 7, 2011

I’m hoping that is sarcasm because if you’re saying that seriously I feel sorry for this world if you’re part of its future. Many of these so called developed countries are wishing they could get their greenery back. They are devising all kinds of ways to do so including a recent idea i read about where they are going to try to grow crops on the sides of skyscrapers. Many countries are going through disasters such as floods, forest fires and droughts because they’ve destroyed their environments for the sake of development.

they should start constructing roads in the mountanins befor any building is placed there. i need to buy a piece piece of land way up on the moutian. i want elevation and a very nice view.

      March 7, 2011

You spent 5 days in a foreign country and now you want everything they do in DA planned. Jess now, you will want a 6 lane highways running through the centre of Mahaut.

        March 7, 2011

huh? you really a country boookie. you mean one has travell to a foreign country to jgive such a suggestion? no, one has to just look around them. no our island is moutainous so our roads can’t be constructed as places where flat land is in abundance but can’t better be done? there is no need for 6lane traffic in da for numerous reasons, population, demography, size, landscape

        stop speaking like a fool

          demographics

        • wow...you are a fool!
          March 7, 2011

people who own the land there and the houses there have been there for a long time…. I guess they should just wait years to build their homes for the government to build the roads to your standards.

Maybe you don’t realize there is a road going through concord already.. and it is being widened. I’m sure you’ve been on the concord road before on route to the airport.

    March 7, 2011

i see building that are placed prabably haphazadly with no plannin and later when development begin to increase we have to plan roads around them and our roads will continue to be narrow. our villages road network will continuue to be a chaotic mess
