Photo depicts President of Dominica, His Excellency Charles Savarin, sharing a word with former Prime Minister, Patrick John, who is a patient at the Princess Margaret Hospital. The President was on his annual Christmas visit to the facility last week.

I’m glad to see that there are bed rails on this patient bed. I went to visit someone in the Womens Surgical Unit in July while visiting in Dominica this past summer. It was terrible to see that there were no bed rails on the majority of the beds. It is disturbing, this is a great fall risk, especially for someone who have had surgery. I do hope that in the new hospital these beds will be well equipped.

I would not say go as far as saying this is the best picture of the year. Rather I would say it is one of the most interesting pictures of the year. I suppose you have to know the history to appreciate it.

Charles Savrain is a statesman. He understands the bigger picture. i grew up during the coup and Patrick john……….. Yet he was an ex Prime Minister and even though he committed treason against his own country, he served his time in jail and came out not as a despot but a more humble man. I just wish he would have the intelligence to tell the truth and write books about the events that took place during his tenture.
