POEM: Dominica cries

Dominica asks why? Why are my people silent?
Have they lost their love for me?
Have they lost their courage to fight?
I am in shackles, I need to be set free.
Dominica cries

There are those who are bent to do evil without ceasing,
To bring destruction to my name,
Hurting my own people and visitors alike,
I plead with you from crimes refrain.
Dominica cries

Many of my young minds seem lost indeed,
Help them find their way back to me,
Breaking those chains of bondage that oppress them,
From their oppression set them free.
Dominica cries

Have my children lost their joy, focus, energy, spontaneity and vibrancy?
Have they forgotten that love unifies and connects everything?
Wake up my children, rise from your slumber,
And feel the joy that true love can bring.
Dominica cries

In the darkness of midnight,
When no one seems to care,
And evil roams around us all,
And fill my citizens with fear.
Dominica cries

Lord of all nations far and wide help my people see,
May they understand their tasks in Life,
May they seek to do what’s right,
And end all bitter strife.
Dominica cries

When will we ever learn?
When will they have the wisdom to discern?

As the rain drops from the sky,
So are the tears of Dominica’s cry.
Dominica pleads! stop my tears my children.

This is an amazing poem…Beautifully written..It truly breaks my heart to see all of the things that are happening…Dominica Cry has allow me to reflect on the positives of this island and what I can do to help make it a safer place for all our kids..And as for Reader and Rudebwoy who talks about originality the saddest thing is you could not even be as original with a simple thing such as the name you use so therefore anything else that you have to say is not worth listening to.

I love this poem, if you read this poem carefully, you will see that this poem relates in some way to communism in China, where the Chinese citizens are silent because they cannot talk and express freedom of speech like we have in Dominica. Dominica is slowly moving forward to a communist type nation, one reason I say that is because the government still refuses to release the MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with China to the public. Dominica cries to know Mr. PM.

Proud of my aunty lynn!!This is a great poem, hitting the nail right on the head. Dominica is a beautiful island filled with potential but hindered by the uneccesary crime!!! This should be posted in the newspapers… and every where. Let us prove to everyone than Yes there are people on the island who are hurt by the senseless crimes that are occuring. Let us raise our voices about what is happening! I am very delighted by this poem.

Good poem. Everyone should post it on their refrigerators and read it often and then think about what it says because it says the truth.

We must have read two different poems because I did not find it good, great or interesting at all. It just sounds like the same old recycle stuff that folks post on blogs and speak on the radio everyday. It lacks originality, it did not move me, and quite frankly was all over the place.

Then Reader why don’t you do better!!!! Typical Dominican…just can’t be pleased no matter what. Everything in the poem is true so why don’t you do something to imporve Dominica instead of looking for originality. FYI you’re not an original either.

you must not just be a reader, but be a writter, show your true talents any body can critisice, not all has the talent to write. so write something that is original that people will find good.best of luck

Quite frankly you are just as every other arrogant individual on the island and in this world. Let’s generate positivity instead of producing negativity in everything that is goin on around us. INstead of seeking the BAD out of something seek the GOOD. As a matter of fact I consider you a lazy unproductive individual afraid of the outside world and lives behind the computer screen. Lets encourage our up an coming poets! Great poem martha Lynn! Keep it up!!

Here goes a very unhappy individual, cannot even appreciate the effort of others.

I have to agree with Reader on this. A good poem to me acquires its energy from realism and fantasy and should be rich in figurative language. The “poem” lacked originality, and while the writer had a good message, I believe she didn’t distill the details to create an essence. In a good poem, each word must serve some purpose. It read more like a monologue.

this poem is not about skerrit, it is about the crimes that are affecting the lives of the good citizens of this country and the country’s name.
let us not always have skerrit in everything
