Hope you realise that today is Monday and the day is more than halfway gone. As yet you have not posted the answer.
May I suggest that, in future WEEKEND FUN postings, you should post the answer at a definite time; such as 10 AM Monday.
My coworkers (people from Roseau) informed that it was Ma Hamlet Shop, where Sukie’s Bread Shop was on Independence Street adjacent to Kennedy Avenue.
I first thought it was Charlo’s Supermarket and ACS..but when I looked I can see the next little house and I can recognize it as the snackette.
This Ma Hamlet shop use to be on Queen mary street and the corner of Kaennedy ave. there are now building Burtons in its place.
The shop in the end close to the market opposite former Wayne Feed Shop
Just a brain teaser
This place is close to island icecream,it is downstairs cherry lodge guest house in Roseau lower down the Muslim store
this is Ma Hamlet shop I used to go there for my mom
This is in the Corner of Kennedy Avenue and independence this was Ma Hamlet Shop and the little house by it was Ma Saverin shop.
thats in lagoon on the corner of kenedy avenue
CORRECT!
Ma Hamlet shop..Corner of Independent st.(Queen mary st.) and Kennedy ave.
I walked that area recently and checked into the new Jay’s Book store to see how many of my book
“LOVE ACROSS THE ATLANTIC” were sold I was very delighted to see the improvements in that area of Roseau. This building I am thinking is right across Jay’s big new building in Lagoon,Roseau and it is on Independence Street(former Queen Mary Street) and Malborough ST.(Hope I’m right with the location)
In de 70’s it was Ma Severin shop not Ma hamlet then Ma Vera was there and after that Ma Hamlet. Ma Hamlet was not in de 70’s all you forget de girl working by the store by de bay used to live upstairs her chile working in de bank. 70’s is Ma severin shop

The lady in the hat is from top of Hillsborough street. I think she still has that hat and blouse.
dat is de State House!
Otherwise known as Queen Mary St and Kennedy Avenue, which now houses Sukies bread depot.Opposite Ma Samuel building (stop and shop)
Just looking at this pic you can see how people loved and cared for each other. The new Burton and Company building replaces this structure.
It is time to renovate the old houses in Roseau and make there look like a modern city , For real
This building was part of a movie in the late 80’s. Spent many a day there. This building used to be where the Burton building is now being constructed.
Interesting
Everybody saying Roseau an all kind of avenue lol…My son looked at the pic once and said River street,at the back of Save Alot opposite Chinese shop..My son was born in the 90s imagine that.

Charlo shop
Once upon a time, the street was called lagoon, and this was the old rum shop; still around.
That’s Ma Hamlet’s shop which was located at the corner of Independence Street (then Queen mary Street) & Kennedy Avenue. The building was the location for one of the scenes of THE ORCHID HOUSE, when the 4-part mini-series was shot here in Dominica around Easter time in 1990. More recently, the building was broken down, and we saw Sukie’s Bread depot occupy the spot until the start of construction of the Burton Building. Some how that pix looks familar, or did I see a painting based on that same pix?
You are very, very correct! Congratulations
My granny’s old shop! :-)Percillia Hamlet.Ahhhh memories of rough cake and squash after school…
Opposite Ma Hamlet’s shop to the west (now occupied by Jays) was Boyzie Thomas’ shop. That’s where little boys used to go buy their rolls of capsule for their capsule guns, or starlights, at Christmas time. And to the south was a shop owned by a short lady who had a kako-mill. People used to go grind their roasted kako (to make cocoa-sticks) in her shop LOL. MILO and Ovaltine were for “highty-tighty” people in those days. The lady with the kako-mill also used to sell mangoes, such as mango-bab. Anyone remember those days?
Sure I remember those days. There was a pipe right at the corner. The lady name was Ma MOEMA. She also sold shadec which was made with pink grapefruit. Those were the days. The place is now Stop and Shop for MA Samuel.
Queen Mary Street (now Independenc street) and Kennedy Avenue…Ma Hamlet use to have her shop downstairs…Sukie had his bread depot after the building was broken down….Burton building there now…opposite Jays….I KNOW because I lived near by…
