Fem inc. stands in solidarity in the fight against Covid-19

Family Empowerment Movement Inc (FEM Inc.) is a Dominica Family Organization which was registered as a Non-Profit Organization in 2019 under the auspices of the local University of the West Indies Dominica Open Campus whose main aim is to facilitate Psychosocial intervention for families in Dominica.

Many families are facing daily challenges, particularly involving broken relationships, abuse, violence, poor health and inequality.

COVID-19 has created another challenge for our families, resulting in fear, stress, anxiety and separation. To successfully combat this deadly virus, families are required to follow strict protocols that may reduce interaction with each other, including physical distancing among family members. Following strict protocol is definitely expressing true love as we protect ourselves and others from contracting the virus.

By not adhering to the protocol, we are exposing ourselves and others to severe illness and possibly death.

Another matter of concern is the constant debate of whether the vaccine is indeed a trusted fighting tool. However, like established safety protocols, the vaccine is scientifically based and was developed as one of the ways to fight against contracting the virus or to minimize the impact resulting in less severe illness or even to prevent death. If we take the vaccine, we are saying that we are less at risk and we are increasing the protection for ourselves, family members and others. We are encouraging everyone to listen to and read valuable information from health experts who provide the facts that the vaccine can serve as a barrier to the wide spread of the virus and that the vaccine can reduce severe health risks and even death. MAKE THE RIGHT CHOICE.

Vaccine is not mandatory in the Commonwealth of Dominica but, as a responsible Family Organization, Family Empowerment Movement (FEM Inc.) is reaching out to all family members and we are encouraging all age-appropriate individuals to take the vaccine. However, it is your choice to take the vaccine or not to take it. Please, make the right decision after reviewing the scientific information that has been given to us and be mindful of false, sensational information which can result in poor decision making. Safety is priority.

We are asking each of us to think clearly as we ponder our choice: Think of love for self, family members and our neighbours.

Our choice can also have an impact on the livelihood of families as curfews and lockdowns can result in physical, mental and emotional health issues and also economic hardships.

What will our reaction be if we are responsible for our family and friends’ contracting the virus and resulting in serious health or even death? How will we go to God in prayer knowing that we were not trying our best to be our brothers’ keeper? According to a religious leader, taking the vaccine is an act of love.

Our Family Organization takes this opportunity to THANK ALL frontline workers who continue to work tirelessly around the clock, to keep our families and our Nation safe and secure. Thanks also to the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica, particularly the Ministry of Health and Wellness, for putting the necessary procedures in place for our safety and well-being.

Finally, we at Family Empowerment Movement (FEM Inc.) continue to pray that our families are protected and we encourage everyone to do what is required, follow all the protocols (always wear your mask, keep your distance and wash and sanitize your hands and surfaces), make the right choice about taking the vaccine, and let us continue to invite God in our lives as we work together for the safety of all family members and neighbours.

There we go again. I expected you tell is that the vaccines contain XYZ, and what the possible side effects could be. And to add that, VACCINATED OR NOT, you can still get and spread COVID.

Instead, same old nonsense like you are another of the government’s propaganda machine
