“The Store on Wheels, the first of its kind?”
Another simple lie!
What happen to those that came before that thing way back between 1960, and 1964?
As a matter of fact, when I returned to Dominica in 1964 for a brief period, Conrad Andrew got me a job at J. Astaphans & Co, and one of my job was to drive a Volkswagen van with all sorts of apparel and sell across the country!
There are days I would drive a Bedford truck; loaded with flour, sugar, and very other merchandise all over and sell; I did that for about six month until Johnny Astaphan fired me because I did not want to go and sell Christmas Eve, I wanted to go and spend Christmas with me grandmother in La Soie (Wesley).
Conrad Andrew is the same guy who was flying a small Air-plane into Melville Hall Airport, when he crashed into the sea in Wesley, fortunately he and three passengers walked away without a starch!
After I got fired by Johnny; I fled to Germany, and I doh ever going an live in Dominica again eh!
Any initiative that saves having to drive into Roseau is welcome; particularly for those who, like myself, have retired from behind the steering wheel.
Another innovative enterprise that I have recently subscribed to is Shopdm. Their efficiency sets the benchmark for doing business in Dominica.
