
Tonight, history will be made as four former Madam Wob Dwiyet winners compete for the first-ever title of “Madam of Madams.” This extraordinary showcase will feature the talents of four of Dominica’s past Madam Wob Dwiyet titleholders. Among the distinguished participants are Roseau Native Veronica Nicholas, who was crowned Madam Wob Dwiyet in 2013, Gweneth Lazare, the 2014 winner from Grand Fond, Theresa Anthony of Trafalgar, the Madam Wob Dwiyet of 2016, and Dorothy Laurent, the 2019 Madam Wob Dwiyet representing Petite Soufriere.
Acting Chief Cultural Officer Earlston Mathew has revealed that the competition will unfold over three thrilling rounds. These include the talent round, where the participants will showcase their unique abilities, the Creole contemporary wear round, and the revered Wob Dwiyet round. To further elevate the night’s excitement, several guest performances are on the program, including a special appearance by the sensational Swingin’ Stars Band.
The stage for this historic event is set at the Old Mill Cultural Centre and it is scheduled to commence at 8:00 p.m.. Tickets are available for purchase, at $60 sitting, while standing tickets can be secured for $50. Tickets may be purchased from Bull’s Eye Pharmacy or directly at the Old Mill Cultural Centre.
