According to ongoing reports, the Dominican government has appointed Nigerian gospel musician Osinachi Egbu, better known by her stage name Sinach, as a global ambassador.
While the government has not officially reported on this development, the gospel singer shared the news via her verified Instagram and Facebook page on Thursday night, February 9, 2023.
Sinach reposted an article from Business Today on her appointment which she revealed was contained in a letter signed by Roosevelt Skerrit, Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica, and presented by Janet Charles, the Acting High Commissioner of the Commonwealth of Dominica in the UK.
The role was established, according to the Prime Minister quoted in the article, to rebrand and reposition Dominica as a prime tourist and investment destination.
“Given your international reach with a following of over 1.8 million and having demography listeners and followership cutting across over 100 countries, your assignment will be to assist in the promotion of the Commonwealth of Dominican’s national interest in various fields and more specifically to use your global influence to promote the Commonwealth of Dominica as an attractive destination for tourism and investment,” Skerrit stated.
In response, the internationally renowned gospel singer said, “I want to thank His excellency, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit for this honorable appointment as a Global Ambassador for the Government of the Commonwealth of Dominica. I look forward to serving in the development of the Commonwealth of Dominica.”
In 2022, Sinach traveled to Dominica with a group of over 20 people to celebrate her 50th birthday at the Kempinski Spa and Resort. The gospel singer was photographed with many government representatives while she was there.
The Ambassadorial role confers on Sinach the title of Her Excellency.

No doubt her ‘Excellency Sinach’ and her entourage of 20 also received Commonwealth of Dominica Diplomatic passports.
I presume this means she was presented with a diplomatic passport by Roosevelt Skerrit? You know what happened to a previous Nigerian recipient of such a document. She may well be still under house arrest in England.
