President of the Grotto Home for the Homeless Ainsworth Irish has said the monetary contribution made to the organization by the Dominica Social Security (DSS) will be of great assistance to the Grotto Home as it continues to face several challenges.
He disclosed this while delivering remarks at the presentation of donations ceremony held at the DSS Board Room on Monday.
“Over the years the Social Security has really assisted the Grotto Home for the Homeless and of course, we have been going through some challenges at the Grotto Home and I have to commend both the Director and Deputy Director for working with the Grotto Home,” he said. “The DSS has been working with the institution tirelessly.”
According to him, the DSS has collaborated with the Grotto Home for the Homeless over the years.
“I cannot go into detail, but certainly I think the social security has been making a significant contribution, not just to the Community Hostel Inc, Grotto Home, but to humanity and the whole of Dominica by extension,” Irish stated. “And certainly, today I think it’s a noble occasion where you continue to give to the less fortunate institution like the Grotto Home.”
Irish also used the opportunity to appeal to the general public to make their contribution to the DSS.
The Grotto is a non-profit organization that was set up to cater to persons who are less fortunate and destitute in society.
The organization relies totally on donations from corporate citizens and members of the general public alike, as well as overseas donors to be able to meet its commitment to the residents.
The Grotto Home is presently equipped to cater to 40 residents.
DNO, how much is the contribution?
Just 40 residents and so much drama and melee for so? So it is only Ainsworth who really loves the dram? I have heard his cry for anyone else to take on the mantle. I guess so as every one is afraid to talk and walk so they are afraid of Grotto madness. So Ainsworth I have to salute you.
