A Fond Cole man who was the victim of a hit-and-run incident nearly three weeks ago is appealing to the driver involved to come forward to assist with his medical bills.
Andy Roberts, 44, also known in his community as “Foot” or “Footy” told Dominica News Online (DNO) in an interview that sometime after 7:00 pm on Saturday July 31, 2021, whilst crossing the road on the Edward Oliver Leblanc Highway in Fond Cole he was hit by a white bus which caused serious injuries to his left leg.
“I left my home and I was crossing the road to go by the fisheries and all I see was a bright light, next thing I just fall on the road with a sharp pain in my foot. The person was driving a white bus but I didn’t get the license plate because as soon as they hit me they drive away like I was a dog or something. My friend who was driving in the same direction see me and he stop tp help me,” he recollected.
Roberts said he was later transported to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) where he was admitted as a patient for one week and informed by a Doctor that he needed surgery to his leg to correct the issue.
“The Doctor said the bone is dislocated so I have to get some screws and a plate to put in my leg. I have a cast in my leg but the Doctor told me I need to do that surgery as soon as possible before things get worse. I can tell you I am in a lot of pain.”
Roberts stated he has been quoted a figure of EC$4,500.00 for the procedure however he said he is not financially able to meet that cost and is appealing to the driver to assist him in that regard.
“I’m not looking to bring the person to court or to the police, all I want is a little help. I have a lot of pain so if they just show up and give me the money to do that operation on my leg it will be much better for me. $4,500.00 is plenty money and I doh have that.”
He further pleaded with the driver, “I have been down for almost three week, I cannot do no work to feed myself. Please just come and help me to pay that money to fix my leg, that’s all I’m asking for.”
The next time you break your foot, take pictures at your home. This background is not appropriate for your condition. The expression on your face indicates that you are in pain. So you should be home resting and have pictures taken there, if possible. Feel better soon.

However lower down you have for …. ” for me. $4,500.000 is plenty money and I doh have that.” That is four million five hundred thousand dollars. Boss if thats correct is only Skerrit or one of his chosen passport dealers would have that amount of money to help the poor man

I feel for you my brother and I hope that the person comes forward. With that said, I listened to your interview and you stated that the back tire did the damage. That would make it difficult for the drive to realize that he hit you and not a hole in the road.
If the person slowed down then ran then that is dead wrong. If there was no change in behavior of the vehicle then it is most likely the driver does not realize. He might be all now saying he hope the person come forward….not knowing is him/her.
Is there somewhere we can make donations? The driver may not want to come forward but he might donate.

The place(country) is in a crucial and tense state because of the rising cases of the covid19. Instead of persons(Useless Wicked People) encourage others to get vaccinated to help stop the spread and protect others of that deadly virus, they calling radio(Q95) talking about for Skerrit to give THEM stimulus package. To them the stimulus package is more important than protecting their life and that of their family’, That’s what you should consider heartless.
Where is the airport fund, where is the road improvement fund, where is this fund and where is that fund. Over the years at least 10 of these ‘funds’ were allegedly established by this PM. Sadly they all vanished into thin air. Has anybody seen any accounts for these ‘funds’… ?
