2019 election petition case in Dominica adjourned

Justice Raulston Glasgow

Illness of the judge hearing the election petition matter filed by the Opposition United Workers Party (UWP) has forced the matter to be adjourned to a later date.

The matter was set to resume on Friday, July 31, 2020, at 9 am before Grenadian-based Guyanese born, high court judge Raulston Glasgow.

Anthony Astaphan SC, who is the lead counsel for the respondents, was to resume his arguments in support of his request for the case to be “struck out”.

The UWP is seeking to have the court overturn the 2019 general elections results in the St. Joseph, Mahaut, Morne Jaune, La Plaine, Castle Bruce, Salybia, Roseau Valley, Roseau Central, Roseau South and Wesley constituencies.

However, the parties were informed by the registrar of the court that the matter had to be adjourned to August 10, 2020, because the trial judge was ill.

@de Observer, you made a fool of yourself in your response to my comment below, but you are so carnal, you don’t even know it.

If I had enough space to elaborate on the idea that “hell is a dark place” you probably would still not understand me because you are a natural man/woman with a carnal state of mind, you are not spiritually discerned.

But what I wrote has everything to do with the spirit. Let it be known that hell is not a “physical place” it occupies the mind of people like you because by rules you god of darkness.

People like you, are trapped in that state and rules of darkness in that you don’t know the way out of it; you are all are too blinded to see nothing else but darkness

With a Great God of Light, who is the “Light” meaning “Life” for the soul, everything and everyone who chooses to remain apart from Him dwells in the state of darkness and death–that is hell; that is where you are right now. You don’t even know it!

“But Linton, becoming the Prime Minister of Dominica, would create a very dark place in Heaven.” Heaven would be in Roseau.

“Linton is wandering the Earth with a dead conscience, hence his soul is dead–there is no Light in him.” You are literally claiming Linton is the Devil. Great: You will get to decide who goes to hell. Your Eureka.

“light is our Life in the spirit, from our conscience to our soul.” Where in the bible does it say that? Alas.

“everyone who chooses to remain apart from Him dwells in the state of darkness and death–that is hell; that is where you are right now. You don’t even know it!” How do you know where he is? Damien: Clearly you have made yourself a god (lowercase g)

“People like you, are trapped in that state and rules of darkness.” Lugubrious megafauna.

You ramble on about light and darkness, and who is going to Heaven or hell.
Based on you anger, clearly you do not understand the Bible, thus YOU DO NOT KNOW God: Curmudgeon, please…

    @Evilabeth

Senility and Alzheimer seem to be adversely messing with your cerebral cortex. You have totally confused, Mr. Linton, a decent, law abiding, erudite human being, with foul-mouthed, corrupt, dark, despicable, deplorable, disingenuous Skerrit.
By the way, stop the blasphemy, by using your lying tongue to involve God in your blind support for the most unscrupulous leader in the Eastern Caribbean.

Skerrit is a loser and will always be a loser.
Why ? All corrupted leaders always end up in jail.. check the calendar history.

    @Wallace Hussey

You stated that it would be a dark day in hell if Mr. Linton were to occupy the office of the prime minister. How laughable! Life as it stands now is both nightmarish and a living HELL for many thousands of resident Dominicans.
Money is a very scarce commodity; jobs are literally non-existent; personal savings for a rainy weather have long disappeared. Presently, Dominica is like a car with not one but all four tyres flat. It’s not going anywhere soon. The country is in economic paralysis. Corruption, avarice, selfishness, political tribalism, exclusionary policies, delusion are chronic diseases prevalent in the Skerrit’s kakistocracy. Hope is the very last thing that a human being loses. Hope for a better life under the stewardship of Skerrit is just a fleeting illusion. SAD❗

Who gave you the authority to judge the well-being of Dominicans or the state of affairs in the Country. How do you arrive at such nonsense. Do you think such nonsense can alter the facts and evidence as to the reality of the things that are happening in the Country. Your comment is not from someone with a rational mind but form an awful political operative whose sole purpose is to distort facts and evidence. When will you stop writing nonsense and think, hope is not the last thing a human being loses, it is life.

When you made the comment “Skerrit is just a fleeting illusion” I wonder if you really understand the meaning of illusion, is this an illusion, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l4TscxZyNHA. You seem to always enjoy the comfort of the opinions you express without ever giving thought as it relates to facts and evidence, how long can you sustain such deception.

@wallace Hussey, Hell is actually a dark place, so it would be no surprise to no one.

But Linton, becoming the Prime Minister of Dominica, would create a very dark place in Heaven, that is why it will never happen. For God, the Almighty, of Heaven and Earth, is the Divine Light in Heaven nothing and no one, regardless of the level of darkness cannot overshadow that powerful Light

In fact, this Light is our Life in the spirit, from our conscience to our soul. Linton is wandering the Earth with a dead conscience, hence his soul is dead–there is no Light in him.

Therefore, the God of Light, in the Spirit of LOVE and HOLINESS doesn’t know him, because the things of darkness are behind His back, Lennox is part of that darkness.

There is no case! This should have already been struck out. What a waste of time and money. Ronald Charles had no chance of winning the Valley. Dr. Irvin McInytre is a force in the Valley, the people love him. Monel did everything to lose, and the results certainly reflected her poor campaign skills. I voted Chekira in RS, and I can tell you the supporters of Joshua knew he was going to lose, so much so, the young lady behind me didn’t have the patience to wait. She said, “we lose already, best I go home we.” I can go on and on. Judge, please get well soon, so this can be thrown out.

DC, I agree with you. I do not see how a judge can set aside 12 seats of the DLP and uphold 9, just like that. I can understand the whole election can be null and void vis a vis the constitution, but not just some seats.
The opposition contested the election. Those who won took the oath then took their seats. By this action everyone will think that they accept the results. Now they want to declare some seats vacant and allocated to the uwp. On what legal grounds does uwp have a claim to those seats.
Observers declared the the elections were fair. What about precedence ? Are there any precedence to support their case ?
If by some miracle uwp wins, the case will be thrown out on appeal. There is real evidence of uwp misbehavior to demonstrate their intent to influence the election.
I think a case is decided on (hard) evidence, witness and intent. Maybe I am wrong, but that is my opinion.

Maybe true. But except for the fact that Levi told the nation he was rejecting election reforms as recommended by CARICOM and OAS.

Surly I would agree with you if elections reforms, which would have nullify the advent of the diaspora, and level the playing field, had been implemented.

And now the wickedness and maliciousness in Dominica’s politics are very obvious by the fact that DLP deliberately did not fix the streets in Roseau until and unless Melissa was elected. In other words we have the money to fix Dominica, but unless our people are elected in a constituency, we will do nothing.

DC, is that the type of leadership you really want to support in Dominica, or just maybe you did not see it? Moving forward is up to you. Because if you believe Dominica in its current state, can create the conditions for your children and future generations to be able to compete on a level playing field with the children of Reginald and Skerrett (politicians), then I wish well.

No one can predict illnesses and that is acceptable. Having said that, it seems almost inevitable that some unforeseen circumstances will pop up to delay cases concerning national elections.
I want to submit that there are going to be other postponements of this case before any adjudication can be had.

Maybe the judge is sick of snow White Lennox Linton, and his boo – boo haha and don’t want any part of that crap lets wait and see what happens!

    • de Observer
      August 3, 2020

Oh, BOY. One time Linton is too black to be PM, then another time he becomes snow White; consistently inconsistent. Locally, a person like DAT is CALLED A SOT…….

I don’t usually respond to what you say because if you bite a dog (hmmmm), and is not afraid to let people see the acronym by which you choose to represent your individuality, your you, then what will you not do to remain in favor of the Men in Black.
The problem is that ignorant people are never eating on the table, they are usually “House ni…..,” in DA we call them the “boom-boom flies,” the ones who are always serving the tables; never in the grand times because they always make the best effort to betray the true patriots, and Massa knows also.

When there is a flip, and if you follow history you will understand that, either way, there is going to be a flip, I can just you like Jimmy Cliff: Mr. Hiltan, but you instead, Mr. Linton. Funny how people always hate what they cannot be. Linton is FREE, are you?

@Observer, I’ve call the opposition leader lots of names but never have I said” he is too black to be prime minister ” get your facts right in a matter of fact all that you written above is a load of crap!!! 🙊

          August 5, 2020

I was wondering how long would it take for you to hyperventilate and put a rushed with no deductive or inductive reasoning response; something I found very prevalent with political supporters in Dominica on both sides: ANGER. I can hit but don’t you dear hit back.

It seems like you do not understand what are references and inferences made in language. You have attacked Mr. Linton like a crazy greyhound, but you cannot deal with a tiny criticism designed to be educational. I am not surprised you wrote “is a load of crap!!! 🙊” this is right through the highway of your playbook, as you have demonstrated here on DNO.

I wish I had copied some of your vicious, animalistic, devilish, and antihuman posts you placed in this forum during the election campaign. I sure did not expect you to try to crawl away from the personality and disposition you displayed in this forum. Please remember this phrase “but never have I said” he is too black to be prime minister.” I will remind you.

    August 3, 2020

Another trip of Skerrit and Tony to drag the case. After hearing the first day argument and reading the facts of the case, the judge must have told his boss that he can’t help Skerrit this time so they told him to pretend as if he is sick so the results could be dragged some more

  11. August 3, 2020

So is UWP Get their way this means that Linton will be the PM? What a dark day in hell this would be . does Linton ever get tired of going to court? Is like every time you look he is in court why dont he make time for his constituency you would think instead of going to court he would be concern about building his party base and meeting the people but no he always thinking of a way to waste money then he accuse DLP of misspending.

Thanks much for the concern, Wallace Hussy   :-D !! Even if what you said is true, which it isn’t, you must surely know that on the majority of occasions, he has been dragged there by Skerrit: incitement, planning a coup by truck, etc. and they let them run for a long time for Tony to make more money, just as in this one 😂🤣.
And the issue is not “if he gets his way”, it’s ” if the COURTS find that his complaint is true accordingly to the LAW”
Don’t worry about his constituency, we ok. Can you imagine Wallace Hussy concerned about the Marigot constituency!!??🙈😁
I see too, that you agree Skerrit overspending.
Man, You made my day 😂🤣🤗
