With hearts full of love and gratitude, we celebrate the remarkable life of Paul Anthony Brown, who passed away peacefully on March 20, 2025, in Miami, Florida, at the age of 74. Born on May 14, 1950, in Jamaica to Lillet Maud and John Brown, Paul lived a life filled with purpose, service, and love.
Paul’s journey of learning began at Mount Nebo Primary School and continued at Knockalva Technical High School. He furthered his education at the Jamaica School of Agriculture (now the College of Agriculture, Science, and Education), where he earned a Diploma in Agriculture in 1971. Ever eager to expand his knowledge and horizons, he later pursued advanced studies at Tuskegee University in the United States.
Paul dedicated his life to the growth and empowerment of others. His professional path was one of service and innovation. He began at the Social Development Commission as a Community Development Officer, where he played a key role in pioneering the Ebony Park Farmstead Development Project in Clarendon—providing land and housing to young farmers and planting seeds of opportunity for future generations. His impact extended across the Caribbean through his work with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations, the Jamaica Agriculture Development Foundation (JADF), and the Organization of American States (OAS), where he served as Director and Chief of the General Secretariat Office in Dominica until his retirement.
Throughout his career, Paul was a passionate advocate for agricultural development and community transformation. His leadership left a lasting mark—including a street in Ebony Park named in his honor, a testament to his enduring legacy.
Paul was a man of great intellect, quiet strength, and unwavering love for his family. In his first marriage, he welcomed three children: Tanya, Paul Marc, and Stephen. Paul Marc and Stephen have both passed. In 1986, he married the love of his life, Shermaine Green Brown, with whom he shared a beautiful life until her passing in 2024. Their union was blessed with three more children: Shakira (stepdaughter), Tiffany, and Kyle.
Paul leaves behind a loving family who will carry his spirit forward: his daughters Tanya Brown, Dr. Shakira Henderson and her husband Centelle St. Aimee, Tiffany Brown, and son Kyle Brown. He is also remembered with love by his siblings Fitzroy Brown, Althiea Brown, Donald Brown, and Phillip Brown, granddaughter Anatasia Brown, as well as many cherished aunts, cousins, and extended family members.
Paul Anthony Brown’s life was one of quiet brilliance and service to others. His legacy will live on through the lives he touched, the communities he uplifted, and the family he so dearly loved. We are grateful for the time we had with him and celebrate the light he brought into the world.
May his soul rest in eternal peace, and may we continue to honor him through the work we do, the values we uphold, and the love we share.
