Abandoned vehicles removed during coordinated initiative

The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF), in collaboration with the National Authorising Office (NAO), Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC), and Rapid Response Recovery, conducted a coordinated operation to remove derelict vehicles from the communities of Bath Estate, Goodwill, River Street, and Loubiere on June 3 and 4, 2026.

According to a statement from the CDPF, “this operation forms part of the ongoing initiative aimed at ridding our streets and communities of abandoned and derelict vehicles that pose health, environmental, and public safety concerns.”

The statement further noted that derelict vehicles can become breeding grounds for mosquitoes and rodents, obstruct traffic, reduce the aesthetic appeal of communities, and even be used to conceal criminal activity.

“The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force wishes to remind owners of derelict vehicles that such vehicles should be removed from public roads and spaces immediately,” the statement added. “Continued efforts will be made to identify and remove abandoned vehicles throughout the island as we work together to create cleaner, safer, and more welcoming communities.”

The Force extended sincere thanks to all partner agencies and community members for their continued support and cooperation.
