Accident in Grand Bay claims one life; police are investigating

The Grand Bay police are investigating a fatal vehicular road traffic collision involving a Nissan pickup truck owned and driven by Philipson Letang of Pichelin who resides in Grand Bay and two female pedestrians: 67-year-old Margaret Rose Grace Fevrier and Joan Mack, both of Gran Bay.

According to police inspector Fixton Henderson, the collision occurred about 11.30 a.m. on Sunday, July 20, 2024, on the Granby Catholic Church Road, near the Pierre Charles Boulevard. He said Philipson, who was accompanied by his wife, was driving the pickup down the when the pickup truck when it apparently struck the two pedestrians.

Henderson went on to say that the vehicle then flipped over a culvert wall and landed in a ditch below the road. He said the driver and his wife who appeared to have sustained minor injuries, were treated and discharged later that same day from the Dominica China Friendship Hospital.
Henderson revealed that Joan Mack, one of the two pedestrians involved, sustained serious injuries to her left foot and remains a patient at the hospital. He said the other, Margaret Rose Grace Fevrier, was examined and pronounced dead by a medical doctor at the Emergency Department of the Dominica-China Friendship Hospital later that same day.
On behalf of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force, Henderson expressed sincere condolences to the family and friends of Margaret Rose Grace Fevrier.
