Address by the Hon. Dr. Kenneth Darroux in observance of World AIDS Day 2019

Minister for Health, Dr. Kenneth Darroux

The Ministry of Health and Social Services, through the National HIV/AIDS Response Programme, joins the entire world in observing World AIDS Day on Sunday the 1st of December 2019, under the theme “Communities Make the Difference”.

It has been over three decades since the HIV and AIDS pandemic has been affecting the people of our beloved country, and together with the World Health Organization, we continue to strive towards meeting the goal of eradicating HIV and AIDS by the year 2030, just one decade away.

Over the years, great emphasis has been placed on research and development, policy and programming, advocacy, and implementation as we confront the challenges that still persist on the journey to reaching this goal.

As a country, if we are to meet the mandate that has been set, provision for health care needs can no longer be driven by only the public health systems, but rather by every individual. The ministry, therefore, has adopted a more community-centred model of care which, we believe, is very timely and is in keeping with this year’s theme.

With this community-centred model we are encouraging every organization, individual, business and institution to join us in our quest to prevent further infection and eliminate HIV/AIDS. It is clear that every one of us belongs to a community and we should, therefore, commit to the fight against this disease.

The theme, “Communities Make the Difference”, lends to the saying “Your health is your responsibility”. As a ministry, we are also saying that your health is our health and your health is that of your country as well. This means that the goals of eradicating HIV and AIDS must be done in a collective approach, at all levels. The unchanging responsibility of informing yourself and others on the matters of health, to include HIV and AIDS, will forever remain constant.

The National HIV/AIDS Response Programme, under the portfolio of the Ministry of Health and Social Services, in collaboration with other relevant stakeholders, reaches out and empathizes with all individuals and families who have been affected in one way or the other by this disease.

The Ministry, and by extension the Government of Dominica, will continue to provide the necessary support to make the quality of life those affected as fulfilling as possible.

We, however, implore each and everyone to respect each other’s right to accessible, equitable quality and acceptable health care no matter what their health status may be.

The National HIV/AIDS Response Programme will be conducting testing and counselling services in districts and communities across the island from now until the 15rth of December.

Various activities, including engaging organizations and businesses to spearhead prevention interventions with the aim of positively impacting communities, will be the main focus in the months ahead.

We once again challenge everyone to be a part of the “Community that Makes a Difference” and encourage you to join the ministry on the observance of World AIDS Day 2019.

For someone who was unceremoniously dumped, and shamed by the supreme one, it seems that some of us here have no backbone. I believe most people who had experienced the type of disassociation from membership as this individual received (in the public domain), would not have accepted any invitation to re-associate with a situation that is prone to such instinctual and petty decisions. Most people would have distanced themselves from such potential debacles. But, it seems the lure of gold is too strong, and can lead to self-debasement and groveling. What a country! Oh, by the way, thanks for the AIDS tips, but you have no credibility Mr. Groveler, and no need to attack me I don’t own a gun.

“We once again challenge everyone to be a part of the “Community that Makes a Difference” and encourage you to join the ministry on the observance of World AIDS Day 2019.”
Ok Darroux, now we are gong to tell you and your failed incompetent immature Skerrit (Odd Minister) and your dumb, failed blind Labour government what we really think. This what we think Darroux:
We the suffering people of Dominica once again challenge this failed Odd Minister, Skerrit and his blind ministers to be a part of the “Community that Makes a Difference” and encourage you to join us patriotic Dominicans on the observance of “Take Back of Country Day 2019”. The Bold message is addressed to Darroux & Skerrit. Get that message to failed incompetent Skerrit, whom we feel was a mistake to be Prime Minister. He, Skerrit will exit our government as this Failed “Odd Minister”.
“We once again challenge All Dominicans be a part of our “Community that Makes a Difference”. Stay away from Darroux and Skerrit…

Mr. Earring (Monsieur boucle d’oreille), some will instantly dismiss you for your fashion choice of two-sided studs.

As for me, I have no such hang-up and am more interested in the value and veracity of what you share than your clothes or accessories.

Some of us can be unduly judgmental while finding fault when we have plenty of real blemishes and faults staring right back at us.

To the individual in this forum who reminded us that Mr. Darroux is a Pal Rep, I would like to know who or what are you?????

Folks, let us not sweat the small stuff!!!

Big in size and not in morals and scruples!!! Please tell me that’s a picture if what Darroux will look like in the next ten years. That surely cannot be the present day Darroux. Why has he aged so quickly? It seems lime he is trying to make sure someone does not catch up in age with him. I wonder if it is fear that when he loses his diplomatic immunity that he will be hounded by the American government that has him aging so quickly. Darroux please remember that your conversations were printed verbatim by Aljeezera. America is unrelenting when they decide to go after rogue politicians. I bet you to put yiur house in order because the day America outs hands on you is the last time you see Dominica except you decide to cooperate and become crown witness and rat out ‘the hungry hyena which runs things in Dominica”.

Your address has been totally drowned out by the Aljazeera revelations. Have you no comments on these findings? For once, get a backbone, stop being a caterpillar crawling at the feet of your Master. Not a word of admonition from any of the twenty underlings of Skerrit. Probably all are of the same ilk.

Get a life Kumba, low minded people. What does the topic have to do with the earrings. Get out from your Stone Age mentality and grow up. I can now see the weeds around you are very very strong.
