After years of waiting, Dominica-born, US-based surgeon, Dr. Dale Dangleben has finally received his license to practice medicine in Dominica.
Dr. Dangleben said during a recent interview on Q95 FM that in 2018, he submitted a proposal to St. Vincent and the Grenadines to practice medicine there and his application was approved.
“I was invited to St Vincent by two young doctors as an investor, so I invested,” he explained. “I built the clinic…”
He continued, “In 2018 when I did my application in St Vincent it was pretty much the same thing to do for Dominica, but for some reason, I never got my license in Dominica.”
Dr. Dangleben further explained that long before applying in St Vincent and the Grenadines he tried getting his license to practice medicine in Dominica,” but I kept being told that my application was incomplete.”
“I went to St Vincent last July on some business and I was thinking of Dominica, like I always do, and I said, ‘you know what? I’m passed my mid-50s now and I am looking at Dominica. My parents are gone, but I see so much that needs to be done in the health sector,’” he emphasized. “And in my reflection, I said ‘you know what? let me see what I can do for Dominica in the capacity that I could’.”
He then started the process again to obtain his license.
“I came down three times last year…,” Dr. Dangleben revealed. “The application was in and they were waiting for my police record from the United States and that was the final piece. “When I came down recently I had an interview with them and a few weeks later I was told I got my license.”
Dr. Dale Dangleben was born and raised in the village of Pointe Michel. He attended Hunter College in NYC where he got his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Chemistry. Subsequently, he went on to medical school at Penn State University College of Medicine. He did his surgery residency and trauma fellowship at Lehigh Valley Health Network. Currently, Dr. Dangleben is double-boarded in General and Trauma Surgery and is Chief of Surgery and Trauma Medical Director at his hospital, Penn State Health Holy Spirit Medical Center in Pennsylvania. His deep passion for education and writing has fueled his publishing of several books in various genres.
Police record? A man who is a pure Dominican, educated in the US is OFFERING his services to DA and you all gave him a hard time while other islands accepted him? What kind of nonsense is that? Anyway, let us move forward: welcome Dr. Dangleben, we expect great things from you. Thank you
Glad to read that a fellow son of the soil and accomplished surgeon has been greenlighted to serve on island.
One would have to be extremely naive to believe that politricks did not play a role in the delay of the accreditation process. In Dominica and other small island states, the near impossible task of biting of the tongue is often required to avoid wringing of the hands and holes in the pocket.
If the toilet paper investors had waited, they would get their license maybe this year and continue manufacturing TP locally again so we could have something to offer Marco Rubio in trade and sacrifice China.
MY BROTHER YOU LOVE DOMINICA SO DEARLY BUT HAS BEEN LET DOWN BY AN ADMINISTRATION THAT HATES DOMINICA. WITH THAT YOU HAVE NOT GIVEN UP. YOU ARE A REAL PATRIOTIC CITIZEN. IT IS WORRING TO SEE THAT ST.VINCENT HAS ACCEPTED YOU AND YOUR BELOVED COUNTRY HAS REJECTED YOU. SHAME ON THIS GOVERNMENT. I WISH THERE WAS ANOTHER WORD TO USE INSTEAD OF SHAME BECAUSE THAT WORD SHAME HAS BEEN USED OVER A ZILLION TIMES IN REFERENCE TO DOMINICA. KING LIAR ARE YOU NOT ASHAMED? MY WORD….
So if the delay was due to the production of your criminal background check why were you playing political victim for all these years…??? Hypocrite…!!!
I thought you were going to explain why it takes so long for a bonna fide Dominican to obtain any business license, and you wondering what’s wrong with the victim. How long will it take for a foreigner, is this delay normal or incompetence?
I am waiting to see if he will use the services of the Dominica-China hospital. When Skerrit spoke about the Hi-Fu machine he,Dangleben and the media whore said there was no such thing called a Hi-Fu machine.I hope he stop criticizing our health system.
Well, is it working tho?
Who Jah almighty bless no man can curse no matter how hard they try or how long it takes the righteous prevails. One day someone will have to answer for the humiliating treatment Dr. Dangleben received. Careful that the same Dr. Dangleben is not the one who has to perform surgery on and save the life of his oppressors and their family members. Remember, Dca is a very small place.
I can just hear Mr. Arthur Dangleben saying from the great beyond; ” Well done my son”. May god continue to bless your brain and those gifted hands sir.
