The Implementation Unit of the Emergency Agricultural Livelihoods and Climate Resilience Project (EALCRP) is set to organize an official handover event on December 10, 2025, starting at 9:00 AM, at the DAPEX Warehouse Facility. The Ministry of Agriculture stated via press release that this occasion is part of a series of public transfer ceremonies valued at approximately EC$1 million, aimed at demonstrating ongoing efforts to bolster Dominica’s agricultural sector against climate impacts.
As the EALCRP enters its concluding stage, the project continues to be instrumental in assisting the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Blue and Green Economy (MAFBGE) in revitalizing and strengthening agricultural productivity across the island, said the release. The upcoming event will highlight two key beneficiary programs funded through the Contingency Emergency Response Component (CERC): the distribution of irrigation systems and the provision of beekeeping tools.
Distribution of Irrigation Systems
A total of 95 farmers and agribusiness operators will receive irrigation kits designed to foster climate-resilient farming practices and optimize water resource management. These kits include water tanks, pumps, and durable polyethylene piping, aimed at supporting sustainable agricultural activities.
Provision of Beekeeping Equipment
To bolster the honey and apiculture industry and increase sector resilience, 10 beneficiaries will be supplied with essential beekeeping tools. The equipment comprises honey extractors, hive components, wax melting vats, and filtration devices, all intended to enhance productivity and quality.
Long-term Commitment to Agricultural Resilience
Over the past five years, according to the Ministry of Agriculture, with support from the EALCRP, it has channelled more than EC$80 million into Dominica’s agricultural and fisheries sectors. This funding has financed a broad spectrum of initiatives, including inputs for crops and livestock, fishing gear and vessel construction, capacity-building training, and the refurbishment of vital government infrastructure such as the National Abattoir, Citrus Certification Facility, Central Livestock Farm, North East Agricultural Station, and various fish landing sites. Reportedly, thousands of farmers, fishers, agro-processors, and other sector stakeholders have benefited from these investments.
The Ministry shared that the ceremony on December 10 symbolizes the Government of Dominica’s unwavering dedication to cultivating a resilient and sustainable agricultural economy. They added that it reflects a commitment to empowering local farmers, improving production systems, and protecting livelihoods against the growing challenges posed by climate change.

in wotten waven we have farmers who do not get the attention we want to be able to do more in agriculture and livestock. I have a passion for plants and animals. we have bought seven acres only to cultivate to ensure
that there will be plenty food supply in a hurricane event. our goal is to cultivate as much land as possible to ensure food for everyone. we want some general assistance for greatest productivity.
