Dominica captain Alick Athanaze has left his national team currently competing in the Windward Islands Super 50 tournament in St. Lucia. The left-handed batter, who recently smashed a commanding 91 against Grenada on Tuesday, is reportedly en route to Florida to link up with the West Indies squad ahead of their upcoming T20 series against Pakistan.
Athanaze’s departure comes just days before the West Indies are set to kick off their three-match T20 series against Pakistan, beginning Thursday. While Cricket West Indies has yet to officially announce the squad, sources suggest that the team will feature three key changes:
The West Indies are expected to make three changes to their squad ahead of the upcoming T20 series against Pakistan. Shamar Joseph is set to replace Alzarri Joseph, with the change attributed to workload management. Alick Athanaze will come in for Shimron Hetmyer, who is sidelined due to injury, while Johnson Charles is likely to take the place of Brandon King, also ruled out with an injury.
We will continue to follow this developing story and provide updates as they become available.
They treat Alick and Kavem like chopped liver. Basically like pawns to be used and discarded as they see fit.
I am not oblivious to the fact that our two guys are caught between a rock and a hard place as they and their family have to eat like the rest of us.
Say what you want about Sammy but he has always tried to ensure the so-called “small island” players get a roster hit based on merit even in the face of strong opposition from the legacy “BIG” fishes of West Indies cricket.
Truth be told, the West Indies are currently loaded with a bunch of inconsistent, hit or miss batsmen who alternately suffer from chronic brain farts, lack of concentration and a propensity to donate their wickets to the opposition and charity.

I fully agreed with Sammy when Alick was DROPPED for the test matches against Australia.👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. Hodge should have played though, although he would have made ZERO difference. Unlike the crap you are hearing from some Dominicans on a Thursday night, Alick himself knew that he was struggling for form and Hazelwood, Cummings, Boland and Stack would be a handful for him.
So i thank Sammy 100000000% NOT to have selected him. Now he has a chance to get some form for the Indian tour.Hope he is DONE with just giving away his wicket.
I wish him well.

We have no real batters in the West Indies.That’s a FACT.
Imagine Brathwaite is our highest ranked batter. Yet some Dominican fools thought we could win Australia. Do they follow cricket?
All he have to do is score runs.. enough runs to remain on the team…
After Australia finish with you all now Alick Athanaze is considered. This feels like after refuse.
SMH…..
@Concerned
It was an extremely good decision to leave out Alick to play the 3 test matches against Australia. He was badly out of form in our very weak Regional Four Day Competition, and even during the opportunities he got to play for the West Indies ‘A’ team against South Africa.
Hodge should play the test matches, but he would make no difference.
Alick will tour India, so he better get into form soon. But to believe that an Alick who was out of form would fear well against Australia? Nope.
Sammy was 100% correct not to have picked him. Now he, Alick, is not embarrassed, but he needs to get into form soon, and stop gifting his wicket away to bowlers.

@ Concerned
Nonsense, as usual from you.
Was he prepared to play Australia?
If anyone asked me, i would say NO.
@Concerned
What difference would Alick make?
Do you look at cricket?
