China’s 2026 policies include several variables that will reportedly result in global benefit, with areas of focused attention on cooperation between the superpower and Dominica.
This is according to Chinese Ambassador to Dominica H.E. Ambassador Chu Maoming, who delineated these variables during a press briefing recently.
“This year, the Chinese government will focus on solid work in the following areas: building a robust domestic market, fostering and strengthening new growth drivers at a faster pace, moving faster to achieve greater self-reliance and strength in high-level science and technology, continuing to deepen reform in key areas, further expanding high-standard opening-up, advancing all-around rural revitalization, promoting new urbanization and coordinated regional development, taking stronger measures to ensure and improve the people’s wellbeing, accelerating the green transition across the board, and strengthening risk prevention and mitigation and security capacity building in key areas,” he said. “Many of these policies also bring new opportunities for Dominica.”
Firstly, he said China will further expand high-standard opening-up.
“We will adhere to win-win cooperation, steadily expand opening up at the institutional level, and promote broader international economic flows, so as to advance reform and development through opening up,” Ambassador Chu said. “We will promote the negotiation and signing of more regional and bilateral trade and investment agreements, and safeguard and develop an open world economy.”
He continued, “We will actively expand imports and promote balanced development of trade, and improve the level of cross-border trade facilitation.”
He noted also that China will pursue high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, strengthen strategic alignment with participating countries, and take solid, well-measured steps to promote stronger infrastructure connectivity, greater connectivity on rules and standards, and closer bonds with the people in these countries.
“We will coordinate the development of major signature projects and “small and beautiful” public wellbeing projects, expand practical cooperation in emerging fields, so that the fruits of cooperation will benefit the people of all countries more,” Ambassador Chu emphasized.
Furthermore, he leveraged that China has always demonstrated its sense of responsibility, practiced true multilateralism, advanced inclusive economic globalization, and promoted the common development and prosperity of the world.
“On the one hand, China is the second largest trading partner of Latin America and the Caribbean, and China’s super-large market offers broad prospects for economic and trade cooperation with regional countries, including Dominica,” he said. “Dominica boasts many unique agricultural products and high-value-added goods, such as coconut products, rum, and traditional handicrafts.”
He said he encourages the Dominican side to actively participate in exhibitions and fairs in China, including the China International Import Expo, the Canton Fair, and the China International Consumer Products Expo, to introduce these competitive products to Chinese consumers.
“On the other hand, under the framework of the Belt and Road cooperation, practical cooperation between China and Dominica in various fields has been continuously expanded and deepened,” Ambassador Chu revealed. “In infrastructure development, key projects such as the International Airport constructed by CR5 and the 6 reconstructed schools aided by China are being advanced with high quality and efficiency.”
He pointed out that the smooth completion and handover of these projects and their early benefit to the people are the common aspirations of both China and Dominica.
“Small and beautiful projects such as the construction of riverbank protection walls, house renovations, and playgrounds in communities have effectively improved people’s lives,” he said.
Moreover, Ambassador Chu explained that in agricultural cooperation, the Chinese agricultural technical cooperation team has been rooted in Dominica for more than 20 years.
“With rich experience, advanced technology, and hard work, the team has transformed Dominica’s superior agricultural resources such as abundant sunlight, fresh water, and fertile land into high-quality, high-value-added specialty agricultural products, helping Dominica strengthen food security and advance agricultural modernization,” he revealed.
In terms of medical cooperation, Ambassador Chu explained that the Chinese medical team has provided high-quality diagnosis and treatment to the local people year after year, cured countless complicated cases, and trained several clinical reserve talents for the local area.
“Next week, a new batch of medical team members will arrive in Dominica for handover. I wish them every success in their work here,” he revealed.
Another important issue of common concern to both China and Dominica, acknowledged by Ambassador Chu, is green development.
In this regard, he reported that China plans to accelerate the green transition across the board and will take carbon peaking and carbon neutrality as the guide, “make coordinated efforts to cut carbon emissions, reduce pollution, pursue green development, and boost economic growth, and vigorously develop a green and low-carbon economy.”
“We will improve the policies for promoting green and low-carbon development, foster new growth drivers such as hydrogen power and green fuels, exercise tight and effective regulation over energy-intensive and high-emission projects, and accelerate efforts to phase out outdated production capacity,” he noted.
Ambassador Chu also contended that several measures are being undertaken by China to mitigate carbon emissions.
He added, “ We will strive to build a new electric power system, accelerate the construction of smart grids, develop new types of energy storage, and promote more extensive use of green electricity.”
According to the ambassador, at present, China has established the world’s most systematic and comprehensive policy system for carbon emission reduction and has become one of the countries with the fastest decline in energy intensity in the world.
“Meanwhile, we have provided 70 percent of the world’s wind power equipment and 80 percent of photovoltaic module equipment, driving a significant drop in the cost of global wind and photovoltaic power generation and helping developing countries reduce carbon emissions,” he said.
Going forward, Ambassador Chu said China and Dominica can further strengthen cooperation in the field of green energy development, turning natural endowments such as solar and geothermal energy into environmental and economic benefits.
“ China will continue to safeguard international fairness and justice. At present, the world is undergoing profound changes and turbulence, with frequent geopolitical conflicts, a growing deficit in global governance, and prominent security issues; unilateralism and protectionism are on the rise, threats from hegemonism and power politics are mounting, the international economic and trade order is facing severe challenges, and the world economic growth momentum is insufficient with accumulating risks; major-country competition has become more complex and intense, and uncertainties and instabilities have increased markedly,” he elucidated.
“China stands ready to work with the international community including Dominica to advocate an equal and orderly multipolar world and universally beneficial and inclusive economic globalization, promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative and the Global Governance Initiative, actively participate in the reform and development of the global governance system, and make the international order more just and equitable,” said Maoming. “We will join hands to build a community with a shared future for humanity and create a bright future of peace and development for our world.”
The ambassador stated that “Dominica is an important country in the Eastern Caribbean region and a trusted good friend and partner of China in this region.”
His recommendations are that, as fellow members of the Global South, China and Dominica should join hands to safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the international order based on international law. Additionally, they should strengthen coordination and cooperation within the United Nations and other international organizations.
“China is fully aware that as a small island developing state, Dominica faces special challenges in climate change, ocean governance, economic resilience building and other fields. China will, as always, support Dominica’s reasonable concerns and legitimate demands on these key issues, and work together to safeguard the common interests of the vast number of developing countries,” pledged Maoming.
Boy there is a difference between the Americas and America, every jacka knows that. The name is not Bronx,it is THE Bronx.Go read,it was never said China once own the Americas, the difference is the S.Stop your bs about native Indians. The thing is what have you done for Dominica, but live on Skid Row and post bs.I worked in America paid my taxes and built a beautiful and comfortable house in DOMINICA,unlike you I am a patriot. You spend all your time on Skid Row and Figueroa street.
Boy shut up, you do not even understand what I conveyed!
If you were not ignorant you would understand I spoke of a geographical area’ in which Dominica is located within that topography.
Do you understand the meaning of that?
You see, my education do not come from google, or from a cellular phone: I attend Wesley elementary, moved to Antigua, where I attended Hill Secondary School, later went to England where I decided to work and went to a two year community college at night. Later I moved to Cuxhaven West Germany! Returned to Antigua, where I operated an Electronic business, shut it down and I decided to immigrate to United States pursuing a higher education. I paid to educate myself in four year college, and university level!
What have you accomplish academically?
I may play politics, but I am not an idiot!
Francisco go back to your perch on Skid Row in Los Angeles. If it you not for the Chinese 90% of the criticizing them(UWP supporters) would be walking half naked. There is a Chinatown in every state in America,Canal street in New York is one of the biggest. How many police, teachers, nurses, farmers, fishermen, firemen, bus drivers, taxi drivers, prisoners, vendors, bank employees and civil servants are Chinese? How many Chinese parliamentarians are in Dominica?.At one time it was said America was owned by China
Kindergarten, I know you are semi-illiterate, and so I do not anticipate anything of significance to pop out of your cranium!
Whereas I am aware that you are not familiar with the term “ The Americas” of which Dominica is part of that geographic area.
Be informed and be reminded that the indigenous people of the Americas, are Indians. Hence, the indigenous people of Dominica were called Caribbean Indians “Carib Indians,” there is also a rival group known as “ Arawak.” And if you wish to know where to find some still in Dominica, you can find them in the Village of Penville, and the village next to Penville, where Roosevelt Skerrit Popeye, the sailor man big arm is from.
So, where were the indigenous people of America when your Chinese dog meat eating carnivores owned America?
I thoght thet the International Airport was being built with CBI Monies?
It is. No loan. No grant. All of it our CBI money.
Putin, you can only lie to the Russians. From day one of the International airport, King Liar had been saying about securing loans from China..
Loans from China? Possibly, but NOT to build the airport. Are you really that far gone, that far brain-damaged?
Take a closer look, you will discover that the Dominica Flag is flying below that of the Chinese: that indicates Dominica is under the dominance of that foreign power!
Dominica has become a colony of China! Soon a nation such as the USA will have to intervene into the affairs of the country, to free the nation from China’s influence and dominance.
Why do you write such nonsense, are you hallucinating, post us a picture what you are hallucinating about, lol. You that Francisco Etienne-Dods Telemaque.
He who argues with an uneducated fool is destined to become a fool! I do not wish to be like you; hence you are free to babble so that the world may see and find out that you are a simply a fool!
That term superpower means competition. its time black people rise up and stop being the world welfare race. Africa has resources, youth, brains, ability, like everyone else. we are physically strong why the opulence of Europe was built on our backs, we barely out of colonialism and have so called superpower who were just in 1938 occupied by Japan. They gained wealth through manufacturing and utilization of thier cheap labor force to attract the same industrialized nations looking to maximize profits. its about Time we stop allowing value to be based on who can help us just so they can flex thier superiority. Unless Blackman see themselves as capable, smart, creative and valuable then we will forever be slaves. I can feed myself and my family dont need another to do for me. That inferiority complex need to stop
The Chinese are always transactional. They are awarded the biggest construction contracts on Dominica; their own kind populates the work sites; the materials and heavy equipment used originate in China; most of the money made is repatriated to their country.
Their contributions to Dominica pale in comparison to the $billions they make and deposit in their bank accounts in
China. Their donations are equivalent yo subterfuge. Beware of the Chinese come bearing gifts. They have hidden motives.
Sony allow yourselves to be duped by foreign sharks. Their supposedly generosity should not be taken at face value.
