Antigua and Barbuda’s Prime Minister, Gaston Browne, has revealed that Dominica’s former Prime Minister Oliver Seraphin, tried to get his government to make a diplomatic appointment.
Seraphin is featured in an Al Jazeera documentary in which he was secretly recorded trying to sell a Dominica diplomatic passport for the exchange of money, an allegation Seraphin has categorically denied.
Browne said over the weekend that Seraphin visited him to try to broker the deal, however, his request was denied.
“I chased Seraphin so…I do not have anything to defend. They [Al Jazeera] could not call my name,” he said.
Browne told Dominica News Online (DNO) that Seraphin visited him at his office on August 26, 2019, to try and broker a deal.
“He did come and presented his letter saying that he had a wealthy man who wanted to be appointed [as ambassador] …” he said.
Browne said “I have a policy, from the time you said you want this from me and you are giving me this, the conversation ends,” he explained.
Antigua & Barbuda was featured in the Aljazeera report but the government was only criticized for taking too long to fire Alex Saad, a former Antigua diplomat who has since been indicted for money laundering.

Mr. Gaston Browne has categorically denied any involvement in any corruption of the sale of diplomatic passports. Meantime the main subject of the Aljazeera report, Mr. Skerrit, is thunderously silent. Silence gives consent. Where are the local media houses and the prominent and influential citizens going to call for this man’s immediate resignation. When are the masses going to come out in massive numbers and demand that Skerrit withdraws his name from the ballot. Skerrit’s continued participation in Dominica’s politics is detrimental to the country’s future. Can’t be a good thing for certain.
I am so sorry I listened to the program a few mondays ago with OJ, what a disgrace this man is. I have lost all respect for him, he is an opportunist and plunderer of our country.

I do not think that Mr. Brown is meddling in Dominica’s internal affairs. What I deduce from his remarks is that it paints a picture that Linton may have well planned with OJ via a third party to bestow Dominica diplomatic passport to someone.
Realist, stick to Skerrit and all his indiscretions to put it lightly. Mr. Linton has nothing to answer to. Conversely, Mr. Skerrit is caught in a tangled web of corruption. He has shaken the moral foundation like a 9.9 earthquake on the Richter scale. He should never be contesting any political election. He should be communicating with his attorneys to get the court to commute his sentence.

While Ross Medical School was in Dominica, he burdened the students with his outrageous tax, and that is one of the reasons Ross pulled out of Dominica after forty years.

Stop inserting yourself into our domestic politics by trying to take the focus off Skerritt and making OJ Seraphine the fall guy.
