Antiguan national Denise Odelia Charles made her long-awaited return to the island on Tuesday morning, ending a 32-year unintended absence that took her over 800 miles south to the country of Venezuela.
Arriving on a private jet just after 10 AM at the V.C Bird International Airport, she was greeted with overwhelming joy and excitement by those present.
During the reunion, Prime Minister Gaston Browne was there to welcome her back home, having had a personal hand in her homecoming.
She thanked the Prime Minister for making her return to Antigua possible. Tears of happiness flowed as family members embraced her, celebrating this significant moment together.
Along with Denise, her brother Terrence Charles and nephew Tishorn Watson also returned home, thanks to arrangements made by the Venezuelan Government through a private charter flight.
Antigua and Barbuda’s PM Gaston Browne expressed his delight at the successful resolution of the situation–the details of which remain sketchy–acknowledging the vital role his administration played in facilitating Denise’s return.
He emphasized that her journey serves as a symbol of hope for all Antiguans and Barbudans, urging them to remain optimistic in challenging times.
Though she opted not to go into details with the media, in the coming weeks, Charles plans to share her experiences and the story behind her extended stay in Venezuela.
it is interesting that this coincides with the time the Americans are released and sent home. just wondering. something way out there.
what is behind the story other than overstaying in Venezuela. it is interesting hoping to read her story.
Gaston Browne so you know the story. the part you came in say it. What you know may help her relay her story and knowing you all she might never be able to tell her story because of you all.
We are a strange set of people. if she was locked up just say so. Why the half presentation of a story. Three people came back home after extended stay over 100 disappeared from Antigua most will never return. Gaston and his government need to use the same resources and energy to stop the disappearance of people in tiny Antigua
i sure she was in jail there or something so and have now served her sentance and was deported back to antigua
