The Alternative Peoples’ Party (APP) is sensitive to the plight of Dominicans, and at this period, put the people’s priorities ahead of our party’s agenda.
In light of the current upsurge of COVID-19 cases locally, the leadership of our party has decided to postpone our first-ever National Convention which was scheduled for August 22, 2021, and, instead, place our attention on providing assistance where possible.
Additionally, we understand the Government’s restrictive measures in response to the dramatic increase in the number of COVID-19 cases. Because of these measures, our planned venue is now unavailable, and the logistics involved with a change of venue further compounds the situation, especially since the country will be in total lock-down on the weekend of our proposed convention.
We all can agree that COVID-19 is the single most significant issue affecting our country, and it demands 100% of our attention and participation if we are to successfully manage the spread of this deadly virus which has and still continues to impact our entire country in some way.
Our team agrees with the Hon. Prime Minister when he says that “We must all work together to prevent further spread of this disease to safeguard the collective health of our nation,” and in this regard, we ask for all hands, minds and hearts to be joined in the efforts to heal our nation; beginning with minimizing what appears to be the rapid community spread. We have signed up for duty.
On Sunday, August 22, our party will launch a campaign under the theme, ‘Covid Among Us,’ to connect and partner with the authorities, citizens, visitors and friends on Dominica’s COVID-19 response. This will take the form of a series of public social media virtual gatherings to help in the dissemination of information. By this token, we will also be receiving crucial feedback from the people. The media outreach will also take other forms which will be announced ahead of time.
APP has unreservedly embraced the call from the government of Dominica and our health authorities to partner in the fight against COVID-19. This is indeed our nation’s most significant health challenge yet, and if we are to prevail, we must work together, and if we work together, we will be better able to take care of one and other.

I do not like this Alex Bruno. I always have a feeling there is something else behind his motives when he speaks like a snake in the grass and I don’t like that at all, no Sir. It making me feel very uneasy. Now he is taking advantage of the pandemic to declare solidarity with the government. How cynical is that. Trust me, Tahira is only a mouthpiece for Machiavello.
While I will continue to say Dca has a place for all, I am getting sick of all the talk and no action. APP (Another Pawol Production) and its leaders should have seen that another party is not Dca’s answer to confronting the dictator. Unity of purpose is what will help us kick him out.
So, to APP I say if you are serious start the boots on the ground movement because doing the same thing others have been doing..talk, talk and talk ain’t gonna cut it. The dictator is the only one who will benefit from another party.
I’ve got news for the leaders of the APP party. You are either part of the solution or you are part of the problem. If you are part of the solution then your solution ideas can’t be a well kept secret. You must have heard the saying that Dominca is pregnant with issues and they are known by all who want the best for Dominca. The ball is in your court, APP. What are you going to say now?
In a time like this, that is what good thinking people who care about country and it’s people do.
APP I applaud you for showing and displaying to the nation of what a good OPOSITION Party should be like. Join force with the government and not segregating the people. What a BIG difference from the other one.
You have put your interest in the HEALTH OF THE PEOPLE. A healthy people is a healthy economy. Not a STIMULUS PEOPLE. You are presenting yourself as the REAL ALTERNATIVE OPOSITION PARTY. Continue on this path. WE THE PEOPLE AREWATCHING.

Is the APP serious about being the alternative to bad governance of Skerritt and the Labour Party in Dominca. This cadre of opportunists seem to be playing an all too cautious game seeking to not make errors or confronting the real issues affecting Dominicans and putting out alternative proposals for the way forward. There is vaccine hesitancy in the country and they won’t address the topic head-on but instead hide behind already accepted pronouncements for following the protocols. There is a matter of many citizens and businesses which haven’t received any assistance from the government whilst they are forced to stay home some with no pay and the APP simply says they agree with Skerritt’s recommendation for fighting the Covid-19 virus. Don’t they care about the real suffering of the people of Dominca? If they do then they must pronounce that and measures to address it. Sounds like an empty paper bag party.
Expertly said. Sound words that stimulate thought. The APP is an inconsequential and pointless abbreviated nonentity organization. They can’t even articulate a meaningful position on such a serious issue. Repeating well established protocols is of no consequence.
The real ‘leader’ of this loose group has tried multiple political parties and got no traction. Dominica needs much more advocacy and activism for justice, equality, equity and good governance not more dishonest, power hungry politicians.
One can stay out of politics and make such invaluable contributions to his/her country. Martin Luther King Jr. never sought political office yet his contribution to his country was so profound and well appreciated to this day.
Why does so many people just decide covid 19 needs a separate political response when there is a health dept. dealing frantically along with the rest of the world to mitigate and control? This is so absurd, these guys are losing credibility each time they act so shallow like people are stupid.
I do not think this govt and Skeritt are the permanent answers to Dominica problems but this national & pandemic health issue is not a political fight. We have done our own research, separated the noise from the real issue and know we all have to do this together. It’s not a black/white thing anymore(which understandably, we were looking for the signs to alert our people). China, Russia, U.S, India, everyone is affected and developing vaccines and treatments. We need to vaccinate, cut the political crap, you are losing credibility. Later we will run for election or reelection.

Most male politicians get into politics for three (3) selfish reasons – money, power and sex. The last thing on their minds is the well being of the people. In my most honest opinion, the founder of this political entity is no different from the typical politician.

Let me repeat my unapologetic opinion. Dominica needs more activists not more loquacious, dishonest politicians and corrupt, worthless political parties.
The APP was formed by Alex Bruno and others. He has admitted this in a recent radio interview. Initially, when he was confronted about this he was evasive and untruthful. Imagine, he put some young women at the front of the battle to take the heat while he hid behind them leading from the back. What real man does this? What serious political party does such a thing?
Politics in Dominica is extremely divisive. It is so contentious that It has made people enemies for life from the cradle to the grave.
Another political party would serve to further splinter the already fragmented communities. The country would be better serve if these people take their energy, ideas and resources and do some social activism. The country needs this much more than the selfish, mean and polluted politics.
The Alex Bruno that I have come to understand is a real genuine professional when it comes to politics. If that man is in APP, I am in it as well. Watch this party take off! Ibo, if you fail to see the progressive in this new party, you will ask yourself: “what just happened there” when the party actually win the next elections.

He wrote some articles that were worthy of commendation then. I gave in his due. Even a fool talks some sensible things at times. (I’m not relating to Mr. Bruno as a fool). A broken clock is right twice everyday.
Subsequent to those few articles I’ve come to realize Mr. Bruno’s true self. The man is a political opportunist, has a over inflated ego, power hungry, an impressionist, too verbose, no friend with the truth,.
