Customs officer Lucille Brenda Scotland of Fond Baron, Loubiere, and Josiah Michael Quammie of Eggleston were jointly charged for drug trafficking of 930 grams of cannabis when they appeared before Chief Magistrate Candia Carrette-George at a Roseau Magistrate court earlier today.
Scotland was arrested on suspicion at the Douglas Charles Airport on Friday, February 16, 2024, for drug trafficking.
The drugs were reportedly found in a FedEx box.
Scotland pleaded not guilty to the charge brought against her, while Quammie pleaded guilty.
She was granted bail for $6000, with Henry Williams standing as surety.
Meanwhile Quammie, who was unable to present a surety was bailed for $2000 on his own recognizance and was ordered to return to court on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, to have his bail conditions reviewed.
The trial is set for Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in Marigot.
Stupid and lazy, the law allows you to plant a limited amount of plants in your yard, if no yard plant them in pots. They might end up going to jail for something that was totally avoidable. The man pleaded guilty why wasn’t he sentenced?
Instead of passing new rulings for people not to smoke in public when there’s no such problem, just the occasional fella pulling on a joint if you lucky, legalize cannabis.
That 930 gms could be grown here locally, instead of being sourced from the U.S that is legalizing to Empower their people. Strengthen agricultural practices and also let the people buy/sell the oils legally, it’s medicine. This prison-for-weed thing is so so old and stupid.
Considering it was made illegal by the U.S, specifically the Jim-Crow kuklux Klan and used the U.N to have us all sign on to make it illegal in exchange for the dreaded AID, we owe it to ourselves to stop imprisonment of our people just for weed.
@Affa
Your grass should be smoked in private. You can full your body/system with as much smoke as you can or wish, but in public you should be heavily charged. I don’t smoke, so what the hell you are coming next to me with your cigarette on fire for? I just can’t stand the odor. I hope the fine is about $5000 -$10000.
As long as you’ll drink in private. I can’t stand bumbling messy obnoxious drunks. Your nose can survive the smell but who will survive the drunk driving, fighting etc? Get off of your high horse. If you can smell grilled chicken, or a candle or incense you can survive a little weed smoke.
