UPDATE: Edison James granted $50,000 bail in incitement case after the matter was sent to the High Court

Former prime minister of Dominica, Edison James

Former prime minister of Dominica, Edison James who is facing incitement charges, has been granted bail in the sum of $50,000 after the matter was earlier today sent to the High Court.

Leader of the United Workers Party, Dr. Thomson Fontaine, told Dominica News Online (DNO) that Mr. James appeared this morning before Magistrate Michael Laudat who rejected an application by James’ attorney, Gildon Richards, to have the matter struck out and instead, committed the case to the High Court.

Additional information reaching DNO indicates that Mr. James’ bail had run out and so a new application had to be made. The application was subsequently heard by the Magistrate who granted bail in the sum of $50,000 with one surety.

James was charged along with former opposition leader Lennox Linton and current leader of the United Workers Party (UWP) Dr. Thomson Fontaine.

The 80 year-old former prime minister was charged with “encouraging, persuading, or instigating by words, causing persons to jeopardize the safety or endanger the public peace, following a UWP meeting at which calls were made for the resignation of PM Roosevelt Skerrit” which, according to the charge, occurred on February 7th, 2017.

Dr. Fontaine told DNO that his matter has been adjourned to May 24, 2024.

Dominica’s problem is huge and real because we allowed that demon to reign over us for too long. Right now our only solution is to cast out that evil spirit off, whether we have to use rocks or any other means, we just got to cast out that evil and wicked spirit out

The said meeting was very peaceful but when Skerrit saw the numbers his cabal did their nasty business and blamed it on the opposition . In fact the strongest and loudest opposition voice came from the then Deputy leader of the UWP opposition Joseph Isaac aka Juda Iscariot, who was also arrested . Since then money god and the cabal bought Judas Iscarriot for less than 30 pieces of silver and cleared him of all wrongdoing. Today Joseph Isaac is Speker of the house. But Joseph I warn you please don’t end your life like Judas Iscarriot because ur day is coming. As a then labor supporter and know what happened in Roseau after the meeting and know who paid guys for burning down Roseau, I as a man of conscience, decided to walk away from the Skerrit labor party. So what we have happening is those criminals that burned down Roseau are free and paid cash and some have bikes etc while innocent good people like Edison James, Linton, Dr Fontaine and others are made to look like criminals.

Sorry but this information doesn’t do justice to what led to the prosecution of the opposition members by Roosevelt and his crookid judiciary.
First the world needs to know that what led to that peaceful protest and calls for the resignation of PM Skerrit was when news broke that a man by the name of Alireza Monfared, an Iranian national that was wasted by interpool for corruption and other serious crimes, was given a Dominica CBI passport and PM Skerrit and the cabal had the known wanted man hiding in Dominica and was seen riding on government cars along with top politicians and senior officials. Monfared is now jailed in Iran for 20 yrs and not an arrest has been made in Dominica although we know who has his vehicle. Dominicans got upset and called for the resignation of the corrupt Skerrit and instead they did their…

Hold on Eddo hold on my brodda! Time is on your side because what goes around comes around three fold and its only a matter of time. Mark my words because the god that majority of Dcans, especially Marigot and Bawi people serve is by no means a crooked Dcan policeman. Just wait and watch. Magistrate Laudat , being a very good former police officer should have known better but , I guess when you still owe bank on your mansion past retirement age you just have to suck it up and obey your masters. Time will surely tell

That’s Skerrits “stalled truck coup”? A coup that occured only in his empty head, involving a stalled truck with speakers. He brought down CARICOM investigators to investigate. Dominicans have never seen the report, as the clown, (Skerrit), must have been laughed at!! Dominicans always remember Melissa “bigging up” her snipers, soldiers and navy seals and put 3 and 3 together.
Skerrit your turn shall come too brother!

Michael Laudat I am aware that you cried like a baby when you were informed that you were to retire from the Police Force. You begged for mercy as one who did not want ash Wednesday to go away. You prayed for 40 days & 40 nights and Skerrit answered to your cry. All this was done because you were so financially broke after serving for many yrs in the police service. Your banks were Daisy & amd Ray Carbs canteen, The Cabaways in Mahaut & a Hairy Bank in Stock Farm. These banks ruined you and your friend who ran to St. Thomas (that’s another story). Now you are big, bigger than Big in your black gown but I hope you’ve saved enough to be on solid ground for soon you’ll join the Dice platoon of “Wanted Man”.

This is how lawless, brutal and disrespectful Starboy of Stupidity and his Jack and Jenny as*es are. These gangsters are using the resources of the state to go after an octogenarian who is a former prime minister on bogus charges.

All this while murderers are walking free because the uneducated police and the incompetent DPP are not up to par.

Where are the combined voices and wrath of the media and all of civil society to this gross injustice?

Seven years and counting for this ongoing injustice; millions of dollars wasted on foreign lawyers on this phony case while the country’s main hospital is out of simple medical supplies; underpaid, overworked nurses, roads in a horrible state of disrepair, public servants receiving unlivable wages and salaries, but for this savage administration, persecuting innocent opposition leaders is these rascals #1 priority.

When anyone refers to the head and all his foot-washing disciples as heartless, ruthless and barbarous it’s true.

This thing was well arranged by the cabal as they wanted to make a point to the world. When we got up this morning news from Russia broke that Alexei Navalny, the longtime Russian opposition politician and critic of Vladimir Putin – died in prison. The local dictator who is just like Putin wanted to send a message to the opposition and indeed the world, so the cabal did what they did to Mr James. But I want to tell our local dictator that Mr James was put in jail innocently but when his time comes he will serve for life and maybe not just in Dominica and the US but other parts of the world too.

Mr. Skerrit all longstanding leaders always make that one mistake which will take them down. I am here to tell you that this one is yours. Man just leave this foolish coup thing and move on. Harassing an 80 year old man who have contributed so much to his country will only bring you dishonor. This despicable pathetic person(DPP) sees nowhere in law that this farce can be thrown out, but she see it in every other case. Time will tell.

“Man just leave this foolish coup thing and move on.” This “harassment” gives Eddison the perfect opportunity to clear his name. So….it is necessary for justice for Eddo.

It seems that you are trembling about the potential outcome of this case.

But haven’t myriad members of the so called Skerrit Labour Party done worst?
At Bellevue Chopin Skerrit, in a town hall meeting, called on his supporters to “DASH GLO CHOUD”, (throw hot water on) opposition candidates. Isn’t that incitement to commit a crime, (which could be murder)? Austrie (Tete Calbas), called upon his supporters to capture honourable Linton and just go with him. Lennox Lawrance said they will hunt Eddison and others like Obama is hunting Al queda. Chi-Chi also told his supporters whether it’s in church, funeral, in their cars, etc, wherever you see opposition candidates, go to them and call them TRAITOR.
So incitement has ONE meaning for Skertit Labourites, but a totally differrent meaning for OPPOSITION members?
There was a politician whose motto was:
Time Will Tell… Skerrit can NEVER be in office for all his life!!
