The story of Blossom Dominica begins with the launch of Finesse Beauty – House of Fashion (HOF).

Ashtra Media Management states in a release that this brand was born from the story of a little Dominican girl in a yellow dress who defied all odds and paved the way for authentic couture and fashion on her home island, Dominica. Now, HOF is introducing its new project, Blossom Dominica, to further enhance the Dominican fashion experience.

The release goes on to state that the woman behind the Finesse Beauty HOF brand is Founder and CEO, Kimara Matthew. She is a passionate, forward-thinking, and critically innovative fashion designer. Her brand emerged from a story of ambition, struggles, empowerment, and strength. Matthew, who grew up on the Small Island Developing State (SIDS) of Dominica, is not shy to recount her days of humble beginnings. She remembers her childhood days of not having much to wear as times were often tough and clothing was viewed as somewhat of a luxury.

One of her earliest experiences with fashion was a birthday party hosted by one of the kids in her village. Sadly, she didn’t receive an invitation due to her typical ‘bow-man’ [creole expression for worn out] clothing. Understanding that the outfits she wore were only what her mom could provide or what she received through handouts, she made it a goal to use fashion to change her life. She wanted to be in control of not just what she wears but what she does for a living, and to build a solid foundation for a brighter future.

Kimara’s life changed when her mom bought her a simple yet decorative bumblebee yellow dress for Christmas. That was when fashion left an indelible imprint on her mind and soul. She remembered feeling confident, happy, and beautiful. From then on, she knew that no matter what path she took in life, fashion had to be a part of it. Hence, the commencement of the Finesse Beauty HOF.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, like other businesses, the HOF brand faced challenges and obstacles due to the global health crisis. However, Matthew saw the visible impact the pandemic was having on her business operations and also kept an eye out for potential opportunities. As a result, Blossom Dominica was created to address many needs which Dominicans both here and abroad felt were lacking in the island’s fashion industry.

Finesse Beauty, the Mother of Blossom Dominica, stands as an innovative fashion hub nestled in the heart of Roseau, Dominica. The brand specializes in meticulously crafting authentic Dominican national attire, traditional accessories, and delivering immersive cultural experiences.
